Made a quick trip to WDW today. I have not yet visited or stayed at the Grand Floridian so I decided to visit the resort and have lunch. I went to the MK and parked my car, then hopped on the resort monorail from TTC over to the GF. Wanted to sit up front on the monorail but I waited for two trains and no luck, o well. While I was waiting for the monorail, I was talking to the CM there. I told him I was going to the GF. In a nut shell, he said Disney had wanted the GF to be a Five star resort, but since the monorail runs to it, and anyone has access to the hotel, therefore the hotel is not "exclusive" it will never be a 5 star.
Anyway, arrived at the GF and I wandered around the main bldg. and the grounds a bit. It is very lovely. There is alot to do at this resort, from different dining experinces, to a spa, salon, shops, pools, beach, etc etc. I liked what I saw. Then my stomach was telling me it was time to eat so I decided to go with my lunch plans and dine at the Grand Floridian Cafe. The CM's there were very nice. My waitress was "earning her ears" and she was very good, i am guessing this is not the first restaurant she has worked as a waitress. I oreder the 'Floridian Burger", which is a burger with bacon, guacamole and jerk sauce, it was very tasty! Only bad experience i had, the "expediter" who brought my lunch out to me, just plopped the plate in front of me without saying a word. I said 'Thank you" after he "ploped" it in front of me, but he didnt even look at me or respond, just walked off, thought that was rather rude but o well. After my lunch, I wandered around the grounds and out to the marina. The I retruned to the main bldg to catch the monorail over to the MK. Arrived at the MK, and as I was waiting in the bag check line, the security guard was confiscationg 6 cans of beer from cooler from the family in front of me. Guess people will never learn..lol
Spent a couple hpurs in the park. It was crowded, but not as bad as I had thought i would be for a Sunday in July. Went on TTA, did some window shoping on Main Street, bought a coke from the Main St bakery, saw the parade then came home. All in all a nice day spent at WDW.
