Our Gracie is almost 4 months old. She is potty trained, however she has developed a rather embarrassing problem. When we take her for a walk and she meets a stranger that stops us to give her a nice little pat on the head she........well she......how can I say it? She um, piddles on them   . Luckily she hasn't actually piddled on them parse, but she gets so excited and piddles  :rotfl2: . They think it is funny, but well it is getting rather embarrassing to be know as the neighbors with the piddling puppy :lmao: :lmao:

I need some help, anyone know how to stop this :confused3 Any ideas would greatly be appreciated, I know Gracie would appreciate it also :teeth:

My Beagle did this for several years, every time someone came into the house and gave her attention, she would pee on the floor. It is a sign of submission for some dogs, and for some is just excitement.

For our dog, it was submission and nervousness. People who were familiar with her stopped giving her attention until they had been in the house for a few minutes. It really didn't stop until we got our yellow lab who turned out to be even more submissive.

When the beagle started feeling like the alpha dog, she stopped doing it.

Get use to it :rotfl:

My dog still does that occassionally and he just turned 1. The vet said it's because he hasn't fully grown into his bladder (or the other way around). It's not something they can control.

DD took her for a walk tonight and someone stopped to pet her (Gracie, not DD :teeth: ) and Gracie peed. DD was morified.

Grace doesn't really seem to have a problem with her bladder. She can hold it for several hours. She has gone all night without having to go out since the second day we got her. She was 3 months. She can also hold it during the day if we are gone for a long period.

Maybe it is what the other poster said about submisison. She sort of does a little piddle on her way to falling on the ground on her back. I hope there is another way other than getting another dog :dogdance:

Toby can hold it too for hours at a time but when they get excited (meeting new people), they can't control it.

One of my labs, Sambuca, used to do that. It was definitely a submissive behavior in her, and continued well into her adulthood. She would just get so excited and so nervous when meeting new people...

She did seem to FINALLY grow out of it, and lots of socialization and opportunities to get to know the neighborhood kids while on walks seemed to help.

Gracie's such a cutie.

Harley did the submissive peeing, too, for his first year of life or so. At the vet, at his training class, when meeting people at PetsMart, etc.

He eventually grew out of it.

Our Golden did it also, until about 2. She will still do it be very rarley and only if she is really excited.

My black Lab did that till she was about 7 or 8 months old, mainly when she got excited (like when we came home, etc.--we'd have to rush her right outside before she got all into greeting us & lost it.) Accordingly, my parents nicknamed her the "Whiz Kid."
