Alyssa answered the phone and announced that Mickey said for us to get up. That’s when I discovered that I had received another insect bite, well, actually two additional bites on the side of my hand and it was swollen and feverish. Paul insisted that it must have been sand fleas from the beach at the resort. I didn’t agree with him until he said that sand fleas were vicious creatures. So the injury report now consisted of one scraped knee and one huge gaping wound between her toes for Alyssa and one insect bite on my leg causing a swollen, bruised/red streaked knot on my leg and two insect bites on the side of my hand causing a swollen, blistered, red streaked, feverish spot. We must have looked like a motley crew. Alyssa and I actually considered knocking Paul down so he could scrape his knee and not feel left out of our walking wounded group.

We showered, dressed, and had breakfast in the lounge. Well Alyssa and I did, Paul lovingly stared at his favorite attraction. We walked to the bus stop and waited for a bus to MGM. We were not seated very long when an unsuspecting couple joined us. Alyssa had someone other than us to talk to and she took full advantage of the situation. Paul and I delayed her when we got off the bus so they would have time to get lost in the crowd, otherwise she would have wanted to spend the entire day with them.

Alyssa’s goal was to ride the Tower of Terror; this is one ride I will not ride. I rode it once that was enough for me. We got fast passes for Alyssa and Paul and went to the Great Movie Ride. On to Star Tours and then the Muppet Movie. It was time for the fast passes so I waited for them at the exit. She did not come off the ride laughing; Paul said he thought the darkness might have bothered her more than the drop (she sleeps with a night-light). She told me she liked it, but did not ask to ride it again as she did with all of the other rides.

It was time to leave MGM and head over to Epcot for lunch. Paul had endured two character meals and he selected our lunch destination. He felt it was time for his own character meal and he requested lunch at Restaurant Marrakesh. After all of my trips to Disney, I was not aware that the belly dancer was an official Disney character but as far as Paul was concerned, she was. However, Paul missed his opportunity to visit with this little known Disney character because Alyssa went into a full-blown meltdown. I swear I had nothing to do with the timing of the meltdown. Also, I would like to say that Alyssa’s meltdown was nothing compared to others I have seen at Disney, she’s not a screamer but a quite whiner.

Back to the resort for her nap, three hours later (I knew she needed a nap), she awoke behaving much more like a proper princess. I earlier thought I might have to call a meeting of the princesses to discuss her very un-princess like behavior, but she assured me it would not be necessary because she had all of her grumpiness out of her system.

We had reservations at Le Cellier for dinner so it was back to Epcot. When we reached the waiting area for the monorail, the cast member asked if we would like to ride in the front. Boy, it’s a totally different experience riding in the front looking straight down the track instead of looking out a side window.

The only ride at Epcot Alyssa wanted to go on was Test Track, so we stopped to get fast passes. The wait at the restaurant was short and we were seated in no time at all. Paul and I both ordered the steak and lobster and Alyssa ordered the kid’s sirloin indicating to our server all of the things she did not want on the steak – remember, she’s a picky eater. The poor server at Restaurant Marrakesh is still trying to recover after he made the mistake of including a tomato on her hamburger after she specifically stated NO TOMATOS!

Talk about a Kodak moment, the server placed Alyssa’s plate in front of her and her facial expression said it all. Oh my gosh, what was that horrible looking orange stuff on her plate and not only is it on her plate but it was touching her steak. She looked at our server with total disgust and stated that she didn’t order any orange stuff. For the record, it was cantaloupe and I removed it from her plate as quickly as possible and spared the cast member any further belittling for their foolish mistake.

For some reason, Alyssa decided to call Paul daddy. And of course, the server walked right up to our table when Paul was responding, I’m not your daddy. I’m sure she was wondering what kind of step-father (Paul and I are in our mid-40’s and look more like Alyssa’s parents than grandparents) would remind the child that he was not their father so we felt compelled, ok, down right embarrassed, to explain to her that he was her grandfather. I could see her running into the kitchen and calling Disney security telling them that this family was insisting that they were not the child’s parents even though the child kept lovingly looking at them calling them mommy and daddy and they needed to come and check our id’s.

We left the restaurant after enjoying a wonderful meal and entered the Test Track fast pass line and waited for about 4 minutes before entering the briefing room. This is one of my favorite rides at Disney and Alyssa and Paul really enjoyed it. Paul and I skipped dessert and wanted something sweet to eat so we walked to the Norway bakery and got some Rice Cream and ate them on our way out of the park.

Boarded the monorail back to our resort, watched the Disney channel and went to sleep.
