My President the Cowboy

In my opinion

And where your linked site says "He got his man" is bull. Bush was never in any peril in order to "get" Saddam. There was no gunfight face to face. He took no physical chances and we're no safer or freer because of it. But a lot of American soldiers and Marines are dead because he likes to play cowboy. And Cheney's continuing line about Saddam and Al Queida being connected is also bull. I wear a flame retardant suit and sleep with an old Marine who saw too many dead and wounded American sons in Vietnam. This fight was not worth the cost.

Cowboys are honest. And, GW really doesn't strike me as being comfortable when he walks in boots.

While I understand the sentiment of your thread, I don't believe America is made from cowboys. I believe America is made from all walks of life, even those who are not native born Americans who have no idea who or what a cowboy is. :)

That's got to be the dumbest website I've seen in a long time.

You do realize that none of those people listed on that site were really cowboys?

Especially Bush....The thought is funny though.

Should he make like a cowboy and ride off into the sunset?

::yes::

I normally wouldn't even bother to look at sites like these, after seeing DawnCt1 response though, I decided to check it out. I'm glad I did! Thanks for sharing this, my husband enjoyed it every bit as much as I did. :)

You might want to consider who pushed west when the environment was less than welcoming. Who drove the cattle when that was the only way to get them from one place to another. Who help make America a country that could be a country made "from all walks of life". While they may not have all been cow boys, the pioneering American spirit is what got us here in the first place. My heros have also always been cowboys.

Um, I believe it was homesteaders who 'pushed' West. And it took many types and ethnicities of people to build this country, certainly not movie cowboys and politicians. My heroes have always been those who did the real work instead of just wearing the hat and sittin on the horse for photo ops.

What's with the "UM"? I do believe I said that they may not have all been cowboys but the pioneering spirit exemplified in the personification of the "cowboy" help build this country. I would guess that they did "real work".

Well we must remember that before we conquered the West, there were people living there.

Didn't Lewis and Clark start the westward expansion of the United States in 1804 followed by Gold rushers and homesteaders around 1849?

Most cowboys came later; they drove cattle and existed, as we know them from the movies (see OP), from 1860 - 1890.

Real people who might be considered significant in US History:
Robert Leroy Parker
Henry McCarty
Harry Longabaugh
Jesse James
Frank James
Cole Younger
John Younger

;)

Actually the early cowboys came across the Rio Grande from Mexico into New Mexico in the 1600's. So yes, there were already people living there. The 1860's ushered in the Cowboys from which legends are made and represent a unique part of Americana.
