Thank you so much for all your kind thoughts and words
We've found a great photo of charlie - really shows up his character. DH is framing it so Charlie will be on "display", even if he can;t be around any more.
DH has said we will not be getting a dog now because he can't bear to go through that again (oh dear, we've still got another two cats and Charlie's sister isn't getting any younger - nearly 16 - but she's so cantankerous and stubborn she'll hang on until she's ready
). But like I said to him, you can't not enjoy the animals by being afraid of what will happen - if that was the case no-one would ever have any children! But I know what he means. I wanted to go get another dog as soon as my childhood companion - Cindy The Dawg - had to be put to sleep back in 1988, but my parents couldn't think of another one so I left it. Hence the two cats Darryl bought me for my birthday the following year
DD Katie (12) has always wanted to be a vet and she says this has made her even more determined. I was a bit nervous because she was insistent on visiting Charlie to say goodbye before the deed was done, but would not stay with me for the injection. However, she now understands how kind an act it was and says she thinks it wonderful that vets can actually stop suffering, bless her to bits, I'm so proud of her
Anyway, thanks again, your support has been very much appreciated.
