Update..

Took my dog to the vet at 10 am this morning... The vet said it wasn't a bb or airsoft shot of any kind, thank god. Even though the hole was on the rounder side it had some rigidness to it. The vet thinks it could have been a bad bug bite or a cyst that popped. They shaved her hair all near the infected area and gave her an antibiotic shot and I need to clean it out 3 times a day and put a perscription suave in it to make sure it heals correctly.

Thank you everyone for all your good thoughts about my dog. Yes, she was shot at over a month and a half ago so you couldn't imagine how I felt when we thought it happened again.

I am so mad about a month ago my poor golden who is always fenced in and never, ever barks got shot in the butt area near her tail. Took her to the vet $350 later it finally healed.

Today...lt happened again! Now it's her back theigh what the hell! Why would anyone shoot a dog that is in their own yard that is fenced in a never really stays outside or never barks?

All my neighbors that surrounds my house have dogs people to my left is an older couple with a little dog which my dog likes, behind us which there part of their yard is a fenced in wooded area we never really see them but they have a dog too. Now my other back yard neighbor has a dog which barks all the time it's a dobie its still a puppy but maybe so done thinks my dog is barking?.

Well tomorrow we are off to the vet again, my poor dog has that silly collar on her neck so she won't lick the wound, poor baby :sad2: Btw she got shot from what the vet said last time with a bb gun or an air soft gun :(

Two times in one month? Certainly no accident. Sounds as though someone means business! I'd be keeping my dog inside ALL THE TIME until I knew who had done this and why. Those wee wee pads would be all over the floors in my house.

I'm so incredibly sorry. to all of you and especially to her. Sighing. Unreal.

Being shot with what? BB gun, regular gun? Have the police been notified?

My dog was in the crossfire of the kids behind us playing paintball. She came back up to the door with pink paint all over her.

It's either a bb gun or air soft gun the police hasn't been called yet. We are going to call tomorrow and my husband will most likely talk to all the neighbors.....

I hope you are calling the police. I would not let him outside without me being right next to him. I hope his is Okay.

Did you call the police the first time? That's something they should have been involved with all along! Why are you waiting now to call them? That poor dog. I agree with the other posters. That dog wouldn't be going outside without me right by his side.

Please don't let your dog back outside until you figure out what's going on.

Oh my gosh. I am so sorry. I can not understand why anyone would want to hurt an animal. I hope she heals quickly and you can find who is doing this so that it never happens again!

Any tween age boys in the mix? I grew up pretty rural and in my neighborhood the boys would shoot at anything that moved.

Not smart, not thinking, not even knowing that the BB would go through a dog's hair. Finally were caught when they killed a tiny dog.

OMGosh! Horrible! I'd call the police, now!!!

It has to be a BB. I've been popped with an airsoft, playing around with my boys and it's a sting, like someone got you with a rubber band - not anywhere near enough to cause a would. And I was at close range.

I got him back. ;)

That is horrible! Definitely call the police. It sounds like someone is targeting your dog. Don't let the dog out alone until they find out who is responsible.

If it's a bb gun or airsoft gun, I think they need to get pretty close to your property to manage it; like another poster said, to do DAMAGE with an airsoft gun, they would practically have to be on top of the dog. (My sis got tagged in the arm from about 10 feet away and it only left a welt that turned into a bruise.)
Even if the police want to help, I'm not sure how much they can do. It's not like they'll be able to stake out your yard until this jerk comes back. I'd invest in some outdoor lighting and a goodish security camera to videotape your yard. Get the little weasel(s) on film and take it to the PD (or their parents, if this ends up being kids, and you actually think the parents will do anything about it). This just honks my horn!

If anyone shot my dog they better hope the cops caught them before my dh did!:scared1:

I would only take my dog out on a leash until you find out what's going on. Make sure you notify all the neighbors, I might even make up flyers and offer a reward for any info ($50) is a nice chunk of change to a young teen... I have a feeling someone's pet will have to be seriously hurt or killed before this gets resolved.

I would make a report with the cops. Then I would go around to all my neighbors door to door letting them know that your dog was shot and that the cops were notified and to keep an eye out for their dogs. Most likely its some kids and I'm sure they don't live that far from you. Hopefully if you go door to door it will get back to the kids and they will cut it out. If my kids owned these types of guns and your hubby came to my door, after he left, I would for sure talk to my kids and let them know that I better not find out it was them.

I am so sorry to read this, your poor dog. Is it ok? can it walk ok?:sad1:

reading this reminds me of something along the same lines that happened to us. few years ago we had new neighbors and their 18 year old loser son and his dishonorably discharged loser fried were messing with my dog but I was slow to realize it. My fluffy friend was outside in the fenced in yard barking which isn't typical. I was looking out the window doing dishes talking with my DH when I saw an apple flying through the air aimed at my dog.

There are no words for how angry I was. I charged outside screaming at thos guys without a word To DH and with soap still on my hands as he followed me out the door confused. Once I got close enough to the fence to see he number of apples I lost it. They got told off By me & threatened with a call to police pressing charges. with my DH behind me I told them to come over and pick up the 50 apples around my fence which they did. they were warned by me if they ever did it again it would get ugly and as I turned to leave DH's parting words were, "Yep because if there ever is a nexttimeyou'll be dealing with me, not my wife." The guys were terrified and they never did it again... I would have been scared too if I was them. Thinking about it still makes me mad... My poor dog. And your poor baby.

what is wrong with people?!?!

wow, that is sad, I hope that you do make a report for both incidents. Some one may think that your dog is doing all the barking. Seems like they are tired of barking dogs.

I wouldn't let my doggie out w/o knowing why my doggie was being targeted.

This has happened to DD's dog at least 3 times that I can remember and it was usually a bee sting or bug bite that we weren't aware of at the time that it happened.. They must have extremely sensitive skin in the tail area because it would swell very badly and the poor dog was in horrible pain! :sad1:

Hope your pup feels better soon - and I'm so glad it wasn't another shooting!!!!

Good news that it wasn't another shot. Hope your pup is doing okay now that the vet has seen him. :)
