My Points.....

I had been trying to scrape together enough points for the last year and a half to buy an Olive Garden GC. Sure enough I finally have enough and Olive Garden is gone from their list. It had been on there for years, I don't know what happened! :confused3 I'm hanging on to my points for a while and see what pops up. Where do you find cracker barrel GC's? Is that the same as under RFC?

Ok just a few random thoughts because I'm having a lazy day at home.

Has anyone ever emailed MyPoints and begged......errrrrr I mean asked them if they could get Disney GCs or Disney Dollars? I wonder if they would try if we all bombarded them with the request in the same week?

Another way to rack up points is to get the MyPoints credit card. I know it's "rewards" aren't as good as other places but some of the rewards other places just aren't as easily used as the points or are limited. Not to mention the points don't expire and MyPoints if one of the few rewards sites I trust not to go belly up like so many other have in the past. Beenz anyone? :rotfl:

I cash out for restaurant, fuel, or WalMart GCs then put the equavilent amount of money in my vacation fund when I spend it. The WalMart GCs can be used for fuel here. And the WalMart, Target, CVS, Walgreen GCs can be used to purchase items you'll need for your vacation like film, memory card, photo batteries, sun screen, travel water bottle, and photo printing when you return.

I remember awhile back on another site someone mentioning that you could use a either CVS or Walgreen's gift card to purchase the cards they offer in their stores as long as you were buying something else in the same purchase that was equal to the amount of the gc you were buying. :rolleyes1 I think I almost confused myself on that one. To simplify many of us go to CVS or Walgreen's and regulary use sales combined with coupons to get stuff like toothepaste and shampoo for free but yet our total may start out around $25 so if we tossed in a GC for $25 then possibly the register would allow the purchase of the GC because our original total was $50 before coupons. Some mentioned then it was unethical but others see nothing wrong with it.

I went to MyPoints and clicked Assistance at the top, then clicked member services contact form. I then asked if they could offer Disney GCs or Disney Dollars as a redemption. Maybe if we all contacted them it would help.

I feel your pain!:grouphug: I've been racking up points like crazy for the last 2 years. I've already cashed in for (5) $25 RFC GC's, (2) REI (1 $25 and 1 $10) for water bottles, and (2) $25 webcertificates which COULD be used to buy Disney GC's. Unfortunately, MyPoints permanently discontinued the webcertificates so that option doesn't work anymore.:sad1: Now, I am sitting on over 10,000 points trying to figure out what to do with them. I will probably let them grow until we plan another Disney trip (currently, our next one isn't until 2012 and my dad is paying for that one!:yay: ) I guess I could keep saving. I'm sure by 2012 I'll have enough to redeem for RFC GC's so I can pay for our family of 14! I'll bet they'd love to have to swipe 15 GC's as payment!

I would not keep that much in there for to long... I love mypoints.. and have been a member for a long time.. but reward companies can and have gone under.

Don't give up hope!! Sometimes they just run out and I'd guess with the holildays they really got nailed by people cashing out. I know Applebees disapears sometimes too.

As for finding a specific GC simply go to Rewards then scroll down below the pics and choose "All Rewards" There the rewards are listed alphabetically including Cracker Barrel.
Cracker Barrel
1,450 Points $10 Cracker Barrel Gift Card
3,500 Points $25 Cracker Barrel Gift Card

I was going to say the same thing. Cash them in, don't wait!

yes, they run out. Just keep checking, they'll have them again.

someone posted once upon a time that Walgreens had the Disney gift cards. Double check with your local Walgreens to see if they have them and if you can use a Walgreens GC to buy a different GC. I am considering doing the same thing- I have enough points for $75 in Landry's gift cards, enough for lunch at Yak n Yeti for my family, but if I get more points before the trip I want Disney GCs!

I was thinking of the Landrys gift cards also......I want to be absolutely sure I can use them at Yak & Yeti though. Is there any reason to not think we can?

Also - is the new Dinosaur restaurant a Landrys also?

Yes, the new Dinosaur restaurant is a Landrys.

I have a friend who ate at Yak n yeti last month and she specifically asked, "Can I use Landrys gift cards here" and they said, "Yes." The gift cards say, "can be used at any Landrys restaurant." Yak n Yeti isn't listed on there, but I'm sure it can be.

I don't see anything wrong in holding the points. I've been a member since 1998. I remember when 100,000 or something similar would buy you a cruise! LOL

Same here.. since 1998. You just never know... if the go under one day you will be out of luck. Also point amounts have gone up over the years.

I cash out when I hit enough for $25.00

Me too, usually because a couple of times I have gone to cash out, and the gift card I want is no longer there! So as soon as I have enough points for what I want, I cash out. Few days away from another pending to clear, and I will get my 3rd $25 gift card for Landrys for June. I hope to earn one more, so I can treat my parents to lunch as well. :cloud9:

Check out the Walgreen's website. They even sell prepaid Visa and Mastercards that can be used anywhere.

Also, DianaPrincessofWales I just checked MyPoints and they are now listed as Red Lobster/Olive Garden.

I thought of this as a roundabout way to acquire Disney GC, but the signs at my Walgreen's state the prepaid Visa/MC's must be paid for with cash or CC. Ugghh...

FWIW, I have e-mailed MyPoints on more than one occasion to try and get either Disney GC's as a redemption option, or get the webcertificates back. I received some sort of "canned" reply about "constantly working with merchants..." and to "..check back frequently..." I know that I should cash mine in soon. We're contemplating a second Disney trip this year (either a cruise or land/sea trip) in which case I would need either the $100 Marriott GC or more RFC cards. That's why I am still holding on. With my luck, I'd cash out to zero and Disny would suddenly appear as a redemption option!

Thanks Kristenrice, knew it was too good to be true. Unfortunately we do not have a Walgreens close. The nearest one is 1 hour away. Oh well, guess I will continue to save for RFC. I use them to buy gifts with at RFC and save lots of $$ because I go down during Free Dining.

Olive Garden is under Red Lobster. I checked they do have them. I am sitting on points and I just wish they had Disney. Be careful getting Walgreens or Walmart for any of the restuarant cards because sometimes it cheaper points to get the restaurant cards directly from them.

WOW! Is the Yak and Yeti Landrys? Can I use my rainforest gift cards there? I just cashed out for 175$ worth from MP.
