My personal thought on yesterday's Disney Parks Parade special on ABC

I thought it would have been nice if they threw in a character show/performance. I understand the Disney Channel stars, but Cee Lo Green? One Republic? Even Justin Beiber.......I cannot STAND him, so I'm very biased, but it would have been nice to replace any of the above with a character show or AT LEAST have a couple characters on stage with the performers. The kids really liked the Phineas and Ferb song.

Also ITA about Kelly Ripa and never ever thought I'd miss her.

I tuned in to the show, but I only lasted a half hour before turning the channel. I've enjoyed it in the past, but not this years', unfortunately.

I had been so looking forward to watching the parade but was also very disappointed  I agree that it was not much more than a 2 hour commercial

Can you imagine what all the other people out there were thinking if we die-hard fans were so disappointed with it?:confused3 I too couldn't wait to see the parade and my kids asked about it for two hours before it began, but after a few minutes they lost interest because they wanted to see the floats! Imagine that...they actually wanted to see a parade during the Disney Christmas Parade!! DH, who likes Disney, but is not the diehard fan, grumbled about it being one big commercial and Disney being nothing but a money sucker. It didn't do much to help me in my quest to get him back there a little sooner. :sad2:

I agree...very infomercial like. A few characters here and there, some singing, some floats...but LOTS of talk about vacationing.

I was really excited about watching it for my first time, and I found it to be really Busy.

Nick was screaming at me the whole time and did they really have to introduce the characters??

Plus Tink is not Terraces girl!!!! seriously even my girls knew that one.

SIGH defiantely not a parade. It was maybe 10 minutes of parade.

I was just telling my daughter that it was one of the worst parades I have ever seen. There was no parade. I fast forwarded the commercials and still did not see a parade. I could not put my finger on it, but reading all the post, I agree with all of you.

We dvr'd it, so the commercials weren't boring. My daughters thought the part with phinneas and ferb were the best, and they are14 & 11. Just enjoyed seeing the parks.

It was very chopped up - sometimes I had to look really close to figure out which park they were in.

& of course knowing it was taped weeks ago kinda kills it too...

I watched .... fast forwarded ... through the parade again last night. The thing I don't understand is if they want to make it a 2 hour commercial, why not show more of the parks? Did we see any Epcot, AK or DHS? Why not show the Osborne lights? Some of how the countries in Epcot are decorated for Christmas? Some of the Jingle Jammin Jungle Parade? I hear the decorations at DL are amazing, but we didn't see much of them. Show Liberty Square, show Small World with it's Christmas overlay, ect....Like I said earlier, the parks sell themselves...showcase them.

They need to bring back Regis. Make it seem more like a parade, not just chopped up performances.

We have a tradition of watching it during breakfast.

I wish I could talk to the advertising geniuses who want to make the filming division just "Disney" and this "Disney Parks" nonsense. It's just plain stupid.

I was disappointed too as it was just a ploy to market their newest resort Aulani and the DVC. It seems there was far more advertising than there was actual parade. I recall thinking this same thing last year, and I doubt I will even watch it next year because it was just like people said, a two hour long infomercial. Thanks, but no thanks Disney. Does money have to get in the way of everything??? :confused3

I thought that I was just tired and cranky......we actually all fell asleep during the parade - def. a first in this house.

Christiana Agulara really really messed up one of best Christmas songs ever and yes the whole thing was pretty bad.

It was really bad. Why was nick cannon yelling all the time? Thanks for reminding me nick who your married too, cause that's why he got the job right?
Duffy in every shot.. So bad, that I think I will just dvr it next year and watch it later.

Interesting comments. For many years I've viewed the Disney Christmas parade on television as a big advertisement for the parks. I've never viewed it as anything but a big travelogue. To me, this year was no exception.

That being said, I was a bit annoyed that they showed a float of Disney Princesses and their rare to be seen Princes for all of 3 seconds. The back of the float had Mulan and Shang. I have NEVER seen Shang at a park and was annoyed that we saw him for about 1/2 second before it cut away to something else. It's rare we see any male face characters so I was slightly upset when they took away our chances to see some much needed eye candy. :rotfl:

One hour and 45 minutes of infomercials, commercials, and movie tie-ins with fifteen minutes of parade.

It reminded me of the old Johnny Carson Tonight Show skit where Johnny is the host of a T.V. Late, late, late, late movie show and spends most of the time doing commercials and stops to show three secs of the movie.

I know I'm dating myself but now seventies television farce is modern day "good business" model. Incredible! :confused3

throwing in my random two cents...

I woke up Christmas morning and thought to myself "We never watch the Christmas parade!" Five minutes after putting on I knew why

A. "Phenomenon" Justin Beiber
B. And PLEASE shut up, Nick Cannon. I know that's not entirely his fault....they wrote him too much shallow obnoxious commentary....

I have spoken.....
