is ANYBODY ELSE out there not allowed to walk anywhere?!

I want to go down my street to my friend's party, two houses up from my GRANDPARENT'S HOUSE, and just a street away from my house. I can't go.

I want to go to the mall. I can't walk there, even with MY FRIEND.

I want to go to a park. I can't walk there either. It's just like 5 streets away!

And everybody else I know is allowed to walk there, and I'm just left there, saying my parents don't want me walking there, feeling like an idiot.

Has this happened to anybody else?
I know my parents are just trying to keep me safe, but really. Doesn't this seem the least bit crazy to you? Thanks for listening to me rant. :headache:

I'm sure your parents have good reason as to why they dont want you walking places.
Have you asked them?

My parents are kind of like that. I live in Chicago, but it's not a "sketchy" area, it's an alright area, not too bad but not too nice as well. They'll let me walk with a big group of friends but they barely let me go out anyway...

When I was younger (like...9 or 10) I wasn't allowed to walk anywhere by myself. Mostly because our road had no sidewalk and several blind curves.

Then we moved to a bigger city and I was allowed to walk or ride my bike wherever I wanted.

Now, I live too far from anything to walk anywhere but the neighbor's or the river (it's 2.4 miles to the main street alone, over a large hill). So I drive places.

Wow, that's a little over-protective. As long as I know the area, I'm allowed to walk around alone. On my cruise my parents let me and a friend go on St. Thomas alone, but that was my third time there and his second. And when I'm in Cincinnati they even let my little bro (12) and sis (10) walk alone as long as they have their cell phones.

Are you locked in the house all day?

There's got to be SOME reason why your parents are so restrictive.

How old are you? Your parents just want you safe, that's it. Can't you have someone drive you to those places?

I'm sure your parents have a good reason for not letting you go. Do you have a cellphone? Maybe ask them if you can go to the park and you'll call them once you get there. Or something like that...

Yeah. Thanks, everybody. I know it's just for my safety, it was just a little maddening at the moment. I'll attempt to bargain, maybe using the whole cell phone thing.
Hopefully it'll work :confused3
But yeah it is a little too overprotective of them, in my view. we live in a relatively quiet neighborhood. seriously; we must be so boring. NOTHING ever happens here! lol.
But thanks everyone.

my mom does a job that makes a lot of stupid people really angry at her. i was never allowed to walk anywhere, because people would death-threat her/her family. she just didn't want to present a target to them.

most of my friends/i drove when we wanted to hang out though, and if no one could drive, my mom would drop me off, so it wasn't too big of a deal.
