I guess you could say her teeth are "too strong"!! My daughter is 12 and still have 5 baby teeth. Unfortunately, these teeth are still "firmly attached" and all the permanent teeth are starting to come in! She needs to have them ALL pulled!! :earseek: That REALLY doesn't sound pleasant!! :bounce: I had made an appointment for the kids to have sealants put in for Christmas eve....I think it might be wise NOT to have the teeth pulled that day!! Forget the "ho ho ho". She'll be saying "oh oh oh!!" :crazy2:

DD (age 7 1/2) just got top braces and an expander for the bottom.

DD (age 10 1/2) has already had 5 baby teeth pulled in 2000 to try and get ready for the braces thing...but she was just terrible about putting on the "spacers" before the braces...that I gave up!!!! She now, has just had 2 baby teeth pulled last week and is having 2 more pulled next week....to wait til the adult teeth come down and then we can start her braces process!!! I believe she is quite a bit late in loosing her baby teeth too......

DD Morgan (10 1/2) who is quite the chicken when it comes to anything...did just fine getting all the teeth pulled. I think she had them pulled about 1pm and ate normal that night. They gave her a little of that gas, which I was quite apprehensive about....but it was fine. She came out last week and said "it didn't hurt a bit"..."next time it will be a breeze"

Between the 2 I must have had (have) 9 appts withine 2 months...all not together either!!!

Good luck!!

I had to have four permanent teeth pulled before I had my braces. Actually, the novacaine shot was worse then the pulling of the teeth.

I also had to have baby teeth pulled when I was a kid. The permanent teeth were coming down and the baby ones were hanging in there tight. I can remember the dentist pulling one that was in there so good that it went flying across the room:eek: Later I also had to have teeth pulled before I got braces.

I had a few baby teeth pulled when I was a kid too, I actually didn't mind at all. The worst part about the process is novacane, and when the dentist realized I was really afraid of the novacane he said we could try with out it, we did and it worked out well. good luck.

tricia.

My daughter had the same problem. This was about 4 years ago. We didn't have dental insurance at the time so I told her I would give her $10 for every tooth she pulled out on her own. She had 8 that she needed out. She got them all out but 2 !!!!!!!! She has since then had braces on and now off. She has a beautiful set of choppers! We have 6 kids and 4 of them so far have needed braces!! I think my ortho puts braces on anyone that walks through his door.LOL

Isn't that so true nowadays!!! I have a babysitting business, and every child I known by age 7 (about 20 different kids that I known) already has braces or already knows they are getting them - not one kid is avoiding the ordeal!

My 5 year old niece had 4 baby teeth pulled at once, and she survived pretty easily. :) Whether in her case it was necessary is another story ....

When Matt was 8 he had 10 teeth pulled in order to get braces on, he did really well with that and by the time he hit 8th grade his teeth were beautiful.

My dd is 9 and a half and still has not lost her front teeth. She had one baby tooth pulled already on the bottom...other tooth had already grown in and the baby one was jutting out the front. When that tooth came out, the root was twice the size of the tooth!

The dentist gave her 4 little shots around the tooth. I had her close her eyes, so she didn't see the HUGE needle. She did fine.

Good luck!!!

I had 10 adult teeth pulled prior to getting my braces. You're wise to wait until after the holiday, but it wasn't that bad. I went to sleep as soon as I got home, not due to pain, but just the idea that I had to get that many taken out!

Here I am, 25+ years later, and I started with a new dentist...I told him that he will need to use pediatric stuff on me...my mouth only has 20 teeth! It was amusing to see what he though was going to fit in my mouth when he did the impressions! Then last visit, I got a fluoride treatment and it was in the kiddie one...I joked that it wasn't bubble gum flavored!

Good luck to your daughter. See if you can get her an appointment during the Christmas break, after Christmas day!
