My official Crocs testing weekend. . .

So I have been a skeptic of the crocs since first reading about them here. So this past weekend I decided to test them out. I wore them all day Friday at DLC and DCA then all day Saturday and Sunday at the San Diego Zoo.

I have very sensitive feet and get hot spots VERY easily when I wear the same shoe every day so this was a BIG test for me - especially since I was wearing them without socks.

The good:

My feet never once got hot or sweaty. That is the biggest plus for me. In my addidas my feet get hot. I also liked having the option of wearing the strap on rides where I thought my shoes might fall off (i.e.: Soarin) - unlike thongs which I sometimes wear. On water rides I didn't have to worry about wet socks - the crocs dry pretty quickly and can be dried off fast, if desired, with paper towels in the bathroom. No squeaky, squishy shoes for the entire day after a water ride. I have a callous on my right big toe which has been there forever and gets painful at times. No issues with the crocs at all. Even after three full days in warm weather of walking all day long, my feet never hurt and my legs and back never got tired.

The bad:

Sorry folks but these shoes are UGLY - but that will not stop me from using them. At the zoo, my feet did get somewhat dirty - its a zoo after all. There were times when I felt I could use a more supportive shoe, but with no leg, foot or back soreness this morning I feel that this shoe is a real winner.

Some suggestions:

Don't buy them without trying them on first. Don't wear them for three days straight without first breaking them in. I have been breaking mine in so they mold to my footbed - I do have a little bit of soreness around my callous this morning but not bad like it would have been if I had worn my addidas for three days. If your feet are subject to dryness and cracking, may I suggest using a good foot scrub nightly as well as a good moisturizer to keep your feet in tip top shape for your entire trip - make sure your moisturizer is completely soaked in before you put your crocs on. Don't allow your feet to slip and slide around in them or any other shoes for that matter.

Don't buy substitutes. They are not made of the same material as crocs. They are rubber and heat up from the temperature of your feet and the heat of the pavement.

Well, that's my review. Hope it helps some of you out there.

I also just got my first pair and have been wearing them around to break them in. I agree that these are the ugliest shoes ever created, but I don't care if I look so hideous that you have to turn your eyes away. If I can get through 8 days on my feet with no blisters or backache, I'm wearing them in all their lime green splendor :thumbsup2

Thanks for the tips!

I just got my Mary Jane Crocs this weekend and I've been wearing them around the house...gaining the courage to wear them outside the house is the next step! Though for comfort on my feet I could care less!

Thanks for the report. I am about to buy the whole family Crocs in preparation for our trip in June. Plus I think they will be very handy for the kids to change more quickly for swim lessons and soccer practice. It's always good to hear the positives and negatives (yes, they are ugly although I think little kids look cute in them with jibbitz) about something that will be well over $100 for all of us to get.

We love these shoes, I have several pairs and rarely wear anything else.
My fav part is the tan lines...:lmao:
Check out DH's feet on a camping trip last summer.

What a hoot! Looks like some horrible disease!

Thanks for the warning! Is it ok to put sunblock on your feet or will that make the Crocs not feel the same? The picture is so funny though.;)

I love my crocs and wear them everyday during my walk to work, changing shoes once I get to the office.

Yes, they're ugly (they look like clown shoes when paired with work clothes) but it's amazing the number of people that swear by them once they wear them and see how comfortable they are.

I wear mine pretty much all day, every day. I have to. They are the only thing I can survive in with this plantar fascitis. I have several styles and especially love my Athens (flip flops) which I normally hate wearing flip flops, but the Athens are fantastic. I can't wait until the weather warms up and I can wear them again. For now I'm surviving in my Aspens (Endeavor), Disney and Beach models - with socks until the weather warms.

thanks for the post... i look forward to buying a pair and i will listen to your advise... :cloud9:

I have the Cayman which is wide. Would you recommend the Beach version or stay with the Cayman since I have those already.

He keeps putting them on and then says " boy these sure are comfortable but they are ugly, so I don't want any." I then "yell" at him to take them off because they are supposed to conform to my foot not his :sad2: What to do?:confused3

Seriously kick his butt out of them. I used to have some Birkenstocks and hubby did the same thing after I had them for a few months. They started hurting my feet after he did that. I'm making him get his own pair of Crocs.

Hey thanks for the review! I was thinking about getting a pair for my trip in May but wasn't sure. Now I am definitely going to get a pair. My boyfriend will definitely be making fun of me because they are so ugly, but I'll be the one laughing when he complains that his feet hurt after a nice long day in the parks!! HAHAHAHA

Am I the only one who thinks they are kind of cute?

I just got a pair two weeks ago. When I put them on, I can not resist the urge to sing, "Tulips are blooming in Holland, Mi-chi-gan..." whilst clonking my feet together.

They are very comfortable so far. I even got me an Eeyore Jibbits, a butterfly, and I made a ladybug one out of a button.

Of course, my husband rolls his eyes and says, "You are actually going to wear those out of the house??" Honestly though, he can't say much. He went to Detroit the other week, and wore a camoflouge shirt all over the place!

I also bought my oldest daughter a pair. I tried to buy Lydia some, but there were no crocs that fit her foot, so I (GASP!!) bought he a pair of fakes! They both love them.
