My newly adopted cat has declared WAR on my Crocs!

Our beloved new cat Abby has officially declared war on my Crocs. It started this past weekend. Up until now she has been the perfect kitty....very affectionate, good eater, very playful, sleeps alot....basically a cat.

She doesn't like it when we leave our shoes around. She will push at them with her feet and nudge them with her nose. On Saturday night we came home from a party to find one of my Crocs in the center of the living room with teeth marks in it! We have since put all ( and there are many pairs in our house) of our Crocs in the closet and we are very sure that we keep the doors closed.

This morning I awoke to find my Croc flip flops, which were under the bed on a shoe race in the hallway with the strap chewed to pieces! She is not bothering any other shoes but our Crocs.

Any suggestions?

I think it's the type of material that the Crocs use because it gives. My dog found more interest in my Crocs than any other shoe. She never destroyed them, but I definitely hid them from her. Heck, even DS (13 months) tries to chomp on them particularly during times he's teething. He will literally lay flat on his belly and attack them with his mouth. It's pretty funny to watch.

LOL I was just playing with my overweight kitty last night.
I was putting the feather play toy in my Croc, it was driving her crazy with the feathers peeking out of the holes.......It's a fun game

Oh no!! Maybe you could try finding a cat toy that's made out of similar Croc material and let it sit in catnip for awhile. Maybe she'll be more interested in that than your actual Crocs.

OR, since the flip flop damage is done, sit that shoe in catnip and hope that kitty will choose to chew that shoe only!

I thought we were the only ones with a teething-cat! One of our cats likes to chew on our (DD & I) flipflops, he's done some serious damage. We try to remember to put them up, but occasionally we forget and then there's a lot more punctures in those sandals! It doesn't help that he's HUGE, the biggest (not the fattest) cat I've ever seen outside of a zoo and therefore his mouth & teeth and the resulting toothmarks are also huge.
