On Friday, I get a automated call from GE stating that they would be here between 9-12 to bring our new oven....
I was ecstatic!! A working oven... a NEW working oven.. and best yet, a new working oven that was FREE...
Well, 11:45 (don't you just love waiting all morning long) a big white truck drives by slowly... ITS HERE!
Two men come in with it, and attempt to leave....
Hold On!!! This oven was supposed to be installed as well! The home warranty told us that installation and delivery were to be done by the person delivering the oven.
There was a large language barrier with the delivery guys and us (sorry!), and they don't understand that they we were told that they were to install it as well. They tell us they have NO IDEA and that they need to go to next stop...
We are trying frantically to get the home warranty people on the phone... (why does the 2 hours time zone difference never work in our favor... they were just getting in!) to straighten this up....
They try to take my NEW OVEN AWAY!!!!
Thats fighting words to someone who hasn't had a working oven since November 7th!
The delivery persons dispatcher is yelling at them to move on, we are telling them to stay because we were told that they were installing it.
Turns out, that someone dropped the ball regarding the correct install code. No one is admitting who dropped the said ball, but the oven stays eventually....
Well, after getting in touch with the warranty people, they wanted to send their own repair people and they can't come out until the SECOND WEEK OF JANUARY!!!!
Now this is a wall oven, stuck in the middle of my kitchen floor! (Incidentally it makes a nice island!) That is not acceptable..
DH starts his phone call chain. First to the warranty people, then to GE (whose oven it is), then to the the person who set up the order, then eventually to GE again, then to the home warranty person supervisor, and then finally the president of the home warranty in their corporate office.
The soonest they claim they can get someone out is the second week of January... as much as I like my temporary island.. that won't do!
So off we went to Sears.. and got a quote for install. They can be there in three days! GREAT, we pay for the install, and make yet another phone call to the home warranty people.
They, suddenly approve this installation charge!
So, possibly, by Friday, I will have a new oven installed...
The box is quite lovely! I can't wait to see what's inside!
