As some of you know, this is my first week at my new job at Deloitte. Let's just say people at Deloitte aren't the warm and fuzzy type, at least at work. Today I had a bit of a breakthrough.

After my boss James finished our meeting, he glanced at my desktop image and said "Is that the Disney Dream? I SOOO want to go on that." Turns out he's gone to WDW every year for the past 14 years. We started talking vinylmation (which he's into), DVC (which he regrets not getting), resorts, dining, all of which left the others in the board room looking at us like we had three heads.

Hopefully we can "bond" on this issue, and they may keep me on as full time after my 3 month contract ends.

DH is in management consulting. He hasn't worked for D&T, but has been at E&Y and is currently at GT. Every once in a while, he gets a client who's a Disney Buff and it does wonders for the client relationship. It's something fun to discuss. Good luck with the job and I hope it turns into something permanent. :thumbsup2

It certainly couldn't hurt.... unless you start a debate about refillable mugs! :)

Good luck on the new job. I was wondering if you ever got a job. Last time I was following one of your post, you had an interview for something that had to do with Disney. I don't know you, and have only followed you on here, but I think you are a great dad, and I am sorry for the loss of your wife. Your kids sound amazing and well adjusted. :flower3:

Wow!!! It's so cool that your boss is that into Disney too!

Love it! I recently left another Big 4 firm, and I know what you mean about the type of ppl that work there and their apparent lack of extracurricular activities ("you mean you are taking time off for vacation!!!") I'm glad to hear you've found a kindred soul at your new gig. Best of luck!

I'm guessing your new job just got a whole lot better. Having a good relationship with your boss is a crucial component of enjoying your job.

That is so fabulous. Nothing like having a coworker (in this case boss) understand our Disney addictions.

:)

Congrats on the job, and best wishes that it turns into a permanent gig!! :thumbsup2

My good friend is a few days away from 1 year since a layoff. And my employer has cut 10 people in the last 3 months. Things are tough all over! :grouphug: to everyone who is looking for work!
