My neighbors have a habit of getting animals then not taking care of them. They have this little dog (Pappillion..sp?) that they make stay outside because it isn't house trained and they are too lazy to train it. The dog craps on my porch, sidewalk, yard, by the mailbox....EVERYWHERE BUT THEIR YARD!!! It's not just my yard...it's pretty much everyone on the street. They left to go on vacation and left the dog out. It was hungry. I secretively called the animal control and they NEVER came to pick him up. I would have taken him down there myself but it costs 50 bucks and this dog has already caused me enough grief. Now they are back from vacation, but the dog still runs the streets.
I have told them over and over again that the dog keeps pooping in my yard. They just laugh.:confused3 How is that funny?
They are supposed to be moving in June or July. They got transferred. But I am so mad that this dog is still roaming and pooping that I have been tempted several times to take the dog for a ride! (I can't do it though).
Anyone else out there have neighbors like mine? If so, how do you handle things like this?:headache:

I imagine they will not take the dog with them when they move.

Just keep in mind that none of this is the dog's fault, and doing that to him would be cruel on your part.

I know. That is why I haven't done it. I don't have the heart. Poor thing.

In my town, anytime you want to drop off an animal, you have to pay 50 bucks and give your name. I don't feel like I should have to do that. I don't have 50 bucks to just through away on THEIR responsibilty. Plus, I don't even want to get into it with them if they found out I took the dog off.

Just some background...my kids play with their kids outside so I don't want them to suffer for it. Also, these people have had 4 dogs in the last year. Two of them they dumped off because they decided they didn't like them, one of them died outside penned up with no water in the heat of the day, and now this one that craps everywhere. Let me say again, I HAVE called the animal control office and they never came. They acted very "put-out" that I even called them. We have a large amount of strays in the city and I guess the least of their concerns is a domestic crapping dog.:confused3

could you get the cops involved?

For a dog crapping in my yard? Probably not. Our town is facing layoffs of police and firefighters right now so this is not considered an emergency...rather a nuisence. I wouldn't want to bother the police when they have to deal with drug dealers and crime.

I just wondered if anyone else out there has neighbors like mine and what they do to deal with it.

I think given the history it would warrent a non-emergency call to the local police. Them leaving the dog outside is animal cruelty. If nothing else hopefully the local police can make a call to animal control and stress to them that they need to go to the house and pick up the dog.

Can you clean up the poop and drop it in their yard? "Just returning what you left."

If they feed it when they are home it isn't. If anything they are violating the leash law. But again, I don't want to bother the police with this. Plus I have to live next door to them. I have already anonymously called but got nothing. BTW....a sheriff lives NEXT DOOR to them on the other side!!!! :scared1:
Chances are, if I do call the police, they will be the one who answers the call...and the dog craps in their yard too!

:rotfl: Last night, my husband took the garbage out and there was a hot pile by the trash cans! He was soooo mad! I asked him if he scooped and delivered but he didn't. I told him we should start doing that but he just isn't that way.

Sorry I meant the part about leaving the dog that died outside in the heat was animal cruelty. Hvae you talked to the sheriff that lives next door about this? What does he say?

They know about it because the dog's pen was up against their side of the fence. They (the neighbors) said that the dog was "poisened" or it was bit by something...I think the sheriff neighbors just turned the other cheek on it to be honest. I mean the dog had been penned up out there for months and they knew about it and didn't say anything. :confused3

It's sad and pathetic. Just typing the circumstances makes me realize just how pathetic it all is. I am just not a rock-the-boat kind of person when it comes to the neighborhood. But I needed to vent and I just wondered if I am the only one out there with half-witted neighbors.

Take the poop back to their yard. I returned a neighbor dog's poop yesterday because I am tired of their dog using my yard as a potty. :thumbsup2

I have a neighbor across the street that I suspect their lab is pooping in my yard. I've seen it running loose down the street. No tags. They had a cat that used to visit me, I would pet it if it came on my porch (I love cats but don't currently have one). He looked like Morris (name was Rusty). Then I didn't see him for a long time and I mentioned it to one of my other neighbors and heard he was hit by a car. :sad2:

If the dog is roaming free and since the owners are clearly neglectful, I highly doubt that the dog is up to date on its shots. Animal control might want to know about *that*, rabies is a real problem in many localities.

I'm just sayin'...

agnes!

You know, you are right about that Agnes! I KNOW they have NEVER taken Gizmo to the vet. When I did call about picking him up, I never told them that information. But I can not tell you how disinterested the guy on the phone was when I asked if they could pick the dog up! Maybe mentioning my knowing he hasn't been vacinated or fixed would help. :thumbsup2

Also tell him how dangerous an unleashed and neglected dog who isn't vaccinated can be to young children. Bet that'll get them out there.

ETA- There are rescue's out there who may take the dog, or be interested in the information about this dog. They may be able to get something done quickly, and find the dog a good home.

What do you guys think about this....

I just had a co-worker ask me if i could possibly write an anonymous letter to our HOA and see if they can send my neighbors a "nasty gram" about their dog. Do you think that is a good idea or do you think they would do the same thing they always have when we have asked them to stop allowing him to crap in our yard? :confused3
