My Neighbor's Dog!!! VENT

It couldn't hurt to send an anonymous letter. If it were me I would keep calling to complain until something is done or and start scooping up the dog poop in my yard and leaving it on their porch right outside the door to step in every time they come outside.

Have you called your local humane society instead of animal control?

Don't just leave the goodies in their yard try the porch.

Wow.....that is total animal neglect and in my municipality, that would not be tolerated. Animal services would be here so fast after just one complaint!

No, I wouldn't return the poop to their yard. Return it to their porch!

If the adults are neglecting their animals, I would bet that their own children probably aren't well cared for either!

I would just keep calling animal control. I wouldn't even tell them its a pet--I'd just tell them there is a stray dog running around.

I wouldn't call the cops unless it was an aggressive dog and you are in fear. They are so slammed with real calls and the people who call over dogs, lawn clippings in their drive,etc......just really take up time they have to write all their reports and answer other calls.

Can you clean up the poop and drop it in their yard? "Just returning what you left."

:thumbsup2, my husband would do that in a hot second and then ring the door bell to let it be known it was him who did it and why:eek::rotfl2:

Take the poop and put it in a clear bag, so there is no doubt what is in there, and go to their door when you know they are home. Give them the bag and say "I believe your dog left this on my doorstep by mistake" and see what they have to say.:lmao:

I would call animal control again and if they do not respond, call the local shelter and the police. These people will probably move and not take the dog with them and you will get stuck feeding it and cleaning up it's poop all the time!:scared1:

I have a history of returning poop to the owners. If I wanted dog crap, I'd go to the dog crap store in the mall and buy some. Oh wait, there isn't one.....Because no one wants it!

Sometimes I fling it with a shovel. Sometimes, I bag it and leave it on their door step. Returning poop has never failed to make the point and has always stopped the problem. We have one nice neighbor who has a dog that sometimes escapes and poops.....I just tell him his dog pooped and he comes and gets it. It's a rare event and he takes care of it, so I overlook it.

But rude folks get poop right back at 'em.

Yucky situation. Hope it works out for you and they move sooner than expected :thumbsup2

Gee, I'm sure glad my neighbor's dog is trained:

scoop all the doggy turds in paper bags, set them on the porch, light em up and ring the doorbell and RUN! :lmao:

If they feed it when they are home it isn't. If anything they are violating the leash law. But again, I don't want to bother the police with this. Plus I have to live next door to them. I have already anonymously called but got nothing. BTW....a sheriff lives NEXT DOOR to them on the other side!!!! :scared1:
Chances are, if I do call the police, they will be the one who answers the call...and the dog craps in their yard too!

Do you have a Dog Warden in your town who enforces the leash law? If so, that would be the person to call - rather than the police..

Most dogs - if left to run free - will make a habit of pooping everywhere except their own yard.. It's their odd way of not dealing with the issue of uncleanliness.. On the other hand, a dog can be trained to do their business in their own yard, but only in a very specific area - which makes clean up much easier.. Obviously this poor little dog has had no training at all..:(

Also - a dog of that breed should never be left outside alone - let alone while people are away on vacation.. Another dog - or wild animal - would consider the poor thing either a furry toy - or a tasty treat..:sad2:

It seems a little strange that your neighbor that's a sheriff wouldn't get involved if the dog is such a nuisance and being neglected.

It's a pretty big problem around here. Our dog stays outside a lot but it's on a runner during the day or in the pen. animal control might come pick it up if you call, but only if it's growling or being aggressive.

Many people around her have cows and livestock and would either take the dog for a ride and drop it off on a back road somewhere or would accidentally spill antifreeze. I'm not saying it's right but it HAS happened. That's why we keep our dog up.

And around here, if it weren't tied up it might not last too long outside. Coyotes attacked a neighbors dog a few weeks ago.

Have you tried putting it back in the pen when it gets on your property? if they ask, tell them you're tired of the dog poop in your yard so you put it up where it belongs since they aren't handling the situation.

I'd take that poorl ittle dog to the Humane Society next time I saw it running free and see if it could get into a goood home.

And I'd feign innocence when they asked me if I had seen the dog.:rolleyes1

I might mention that since they let the dog run free, it probably got hit by a car or ran away.
