I am sorry but I have to vent about my neighbor. It may seem stupid and petty but it is getting very frustrating. My neighbor has 5 vehicles. They all run so my vent isn't about junk. He has his truck, wife's car, vintage car, daughter's car and an old truck he uses for things like hauling wood. The cars are all kept in the garage or driveway except the old truck which has had a 10 ft long trailer attached to it. He has decided to park the truck & trailer in front of our house. This has been going on for about 6 weeks. He hardly uses it so there it sits everyday. We can't park in fron of our house (we have 3 vehicles and only 2 will fit in the driveway) and the way our house is located we have to park the 3rd vehicle about a block away. When we have company they can't park anywhere near our house unless we remove our vehicles and let them take our spots. He doesn't work and has numerous people coming over everyday and they will work on their vehicles, other projects and even they have ended up parking in front of our driveway. I decided to try and politely ask his if he could move his vehicle because we were having guests over and he answered 'I could' but he didn't. Ever since then he has had someone 'save' the spot for him whenever he needs to use the truck. He doesn't want to risk losing the space.

Anyway thanks for letting me vent.

I would be so irritated. Our neighbors across the street used to park their cars in front of our house all the time even when they had an empty driveway or space in front of their house. They are the only people on our street that does that.

Can you park in front of his house?

Can you park in front of his house?
Not sure I would want to. His yard is covered by so many trees and bushes I couldn't see my vehicle from my house (we live outside the city limits so its not set up like a regular block...but not out in the country either...I call it country-lite). Remember a Christmas Story? In the second one you got to see the neighbors with the annoying dogs...the Bumpusses? That's my neighbor.

We used to have a neighbor that did this. He would park in front of our house instead of his own. We'd see his van in front of our living room window yet his view was perfect out his front windows. Ask him to move the truck again and be firm. You shouldn't have to park your car a block away.

He get a view of beautiful mountains we get a view of his old truck. There is no reasoning with this guy. Right now he is on vacation and is using his 5th wheel and his newer truck so he isn't home at all. But there is plenty of room to put his old truck on his driveway while gone. We can't even water our entire lawn (because it will hit his truck and we have hard water)...or can we :rolleyes1

Do you know someone who as a tank? maybe they could park over there driveway, then when he cant get into his drive and ask could you move the tank...your answer...yes I could...then go in and make dinner, chill, watch a movie...lol

Seriously, this stinks, could you park your car so close to his drive it causes him issues, you have asked nicely nows the time to play his game, go for it.

Good Luck

Is the truck in good condition? Does it look abandonded....maybe report it to the police....just wondering

I say it's time to fire up that hose! :cool1: He didn't happen to leave the windows open a bit, did he?:rotfl2:

You're concerned about getting hard water stains on an old truck??? If that is your "ticket" to getting him to move the truck...I would so be watering it about 24/7.:rotfl:

Why not. It's your lawn. It's just terrible the way people are getting more and more inconsiderate. :headache:

I agree! I'd be running those sprinkler day and night, and especially when he was planning on using the truck. And a lot of the sprinkle would aimed right at the trailer.

I'd also try and relocate some ant hills to right by his tire and wheel wells.

1) are there any laws in your town about unmoved vehicles... for example, some state that a vehicle parked in the road must be moved every 3 days or something. While he's on vacation is a perfect time to make that point.

2) what's wrong with parking in front of his house ? So what if you can't see your car ? Are you worried he'll vandalize it ?

3) I would water and water the lawn. Not your problem to avoid his truck.

4) For all the bashing that HOA's take, this is exactly why I like them. The HOA could (and some will) levy fines for each day after a warning.

Yes, we can water our lawn.

Water the vehicle, errr umm the lawn.

Contact your local police dept and see what your course of action can/should be. Neighbors like your are everywhere, I would like them to all move into one neighborhood and torment each other!!

I have the same situation.

My neighbor's kids used to come home on weekends. Their cars and their friends cars would line both street sides of my house. Not one car would be in the driveway or in front of the parent's home. I never complained, since this was only on the weekend. I should have spoke up sooner.

Now my neighbor's kids have all moved back home, along with their new significant others and other's children. Their youngest 18 year old son moved out in June to return in July with a new wife and her two children! I understand how bad the economy is, especially for young, right out of high school kids, but now I have a fleet of old 30 year old cars in front of me. Cars that were old when I was their age. :lmao: I know the parents don't want them to park in their garage, driveway, or in front because of all the fluids these eyesores leak.

I've politely asked about it, but they only made an effort for a week or two. Rather than fume about it, I've just closed my curtains. It keeps the house cooler and my temper cooler.

Now their dogs are the really issue with me. Everyone moved back in and brought their dogs! There is 6 dogs living in that house! All huge dogs with names like Drooler and Snots. (reminds me of a Christmas story, in fact I now call them the Bumpuses)

I ignore it, but it's starting to get to my husband. He makes a point each morning to walk our dog past their house at 5 am each morning. I swear one day those dogs are going to break through that picture window!

I would see if there's a violation for leaving a car parked on the roadway. Then call to have it removed. After paying a hefty fine to get it back, he might be willing to park it some place else. Where do they park their TT??

One I'd check your local laws. Parking a trailer on the street is illegal in some towns. Two I'd inform the local police that the trailer does not move. Some towns also have a policy about vehicles left parked for more than so many hours in a row. Around here it's like 72 hours.

The only way to get a vehicle removed is if it is obviously abandoned (like on the highway) or if the tags have expired.

I would talk to the police, sheriff, city/town administrators. There is no reason why this man cannot park his vehicle in front of his home. He is infringing on your rights and value of your property.

No more Ms. NiceLady. The gloves would be off, and the feathers flying.
