MY NEIGHBOR THINKS I AM CRAZY  FOR BOOKING A VACATION AT DISNEY, THE SECOND WEEK OF SEPTEMBER...IN ALL OF THE TIMES I HAVE BEEN TO WDW....I AM SURE I MUST HAVE BEEN THERE DURING HURRICANE SEASON.I GUESS I JUST NEVER WAS AWARE OF IT. :confused3
I BOOKED TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE DDP AND LOW ATTENDANCE NUMBERS DURING THAT TIME! WILL I BE SORRY?,,,HAS ANYONE STAYED THERE DURING SEPT 10 THRU 17TH{APPROX} IN THE LAST FEW YEARS?HOW WAS THE WEATHER???? :sunny: HELP!!!!!

Its never crazy to go to DIsney!!! Hurricane season starts today, I think there will be alot of crazy people in Disney right along side you (including me)!!! Tell her you will bring an umbrella :rotfl2: !!!

The weather is hot and sticky. But . . . hot and sticky isn't so bad when you don't have to wait in line forever to ride a ride. Crowds were generally very low when we've been in Sept. We were able to ride all the major rides in all parks with little to no wait time (except Magic Kingdom on a Sat when we were there).

Before you go, head to WalMart and purchase some 88cent rain ponchos (in the camping section). They are packed small and easy to carry. You may get wet with an afternoon shower going in Sept. They are also good to use as a barrier--for instance, if you want to sit on the curb and watch a parade but something sticky, wet or just plain yucky is on the curb, then just pull out your handy-dandy disposable poncho and spread it out. Presto! A clean place to sit.

Have a good time and don't forget your sunscreen!

LOL, tell your neighbor he/she is the crazy one for not going at that time. Great rates. Better than that, tell her we cruise Disney Cruise Line specifically in September, have before and are again this September..lol.

You neighbor should keep in mind..the weakest tornado is stronger than the strongest hurricane, just for a little comparison about the weather.

Thanks soooooo much for the quick reply from all of you.........I have been so busy charting my ADR's that I forgot the "season" starts today!!!Best of luck to all who are on their way, and in the excitement of planning!!!!
My computer table is covered with printouts, abbreviations, pictures of DDP, I am going to have to focus on something else for a minute,,,,OK,,,,,,minute's up!!!!!BACK TO DISNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Hey Goofy ~~ I guess were crazy too.............. we'll be there the week before you!!!! LOL :thumbsup2

The poncho is such a good idea!!! Like you said , it can be used for a number of things,,,Even sitting anywhere after a rainburst so you don't sit in a puddle and spend the rest of the day looking like you :umbrella: {sat in a puddle!!} :goofy:

I just started a thread about this. Guess I should have read your thread first. We are going sept18-23. And I was wondering if anyone else going then was worried. I am not overly concerned, I hope that we have nice weather but you never know any time of year. Hopefully the weather will be nice for us all going in september!

Isn't it GREAT!!!!!!!!!! THE PLANNING,THE LISTS, THE EXCITEMENT!!aaaaghhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :dance3:

Goofy...I guess we are crazy too. we are going the same week! We went the first week in October last year. Still hot, still hurricanes. Got sandwiched by Wilma, and some other one that only turned into a tropical storm. However, we went prepared. We had ponchos...and also took flip flops with us to put on after or during rain so our sneakers didn't get wet. It's all about being prepared!! Where are you staying? Maybe we will be crazy at the same resort!!

We'll be there in mid September, but we live in S. FLorida. I'd rather be at Disney than here after a hurricane (during too, but I know I'd worry about my house, pets and family who live close by), since we've lost power anywhere from 5-9 days after the 3 'canes during the last 2 seasons.

It's an awesome time to go to the WORLD.

Hey Willis,,,,,,You're right!!You can sit at home forever and worry about the weather. The thing is..........I think we would all much rather at least be at Disney during Bad Weather than just sitting at home worring about it!! :rotfl2:

 I LOVE THIS NEW LITTLE GUY!!

And I will say that this is the first time I have ever purchased trip insurance because of hurricanes.
I WASN'T SURE WHAT THE TRIP INSURANCE WAS FOR
I didn't take it because my flight was paid for on my Discover Card,
and they give free flight insurance....I wasn't thinking about actual
"Trip" insurance....I wonder if it is too late!!

You may still be able to add it. I never take it. Also, explore other trip insurance agencies too. I've read that folks can get it cheaper and it covers more. But I don't know anymore details.

Last year I did the free DDP from the 7th to the 12th...the weather was gorgeous....this year I'm there from the 1 to the 6th....

Your neighbor is nuts..

Can be no safer place then Disney during a huricane.

That week in September is our customary time to visit. Sure, we think about the hurricanes and watch the weather closely but we have never had a problem. In fact, one of the best trips we ever had was a couple of years ago before Ivan. It seems that just about everybody had cancelled their trips because of him, and he went to the west coast of Florida instead. The parks were empty - it was fabulous. I hope you enjoy it! :flower:
