He cut our front lawn before I had time to. It was only about an inch or two taller than normal, is that a lot? He also did two neighbors on the other side of me. And the neighbor on the other side of him!!!

Now I have to think of some way to repay him. It is getting hard because he has done this three times in a row now.

We have only been here four years and I would trust each on both sides with keys to our house while we are on vacation.

anyone else have nice neighbors?

Yup I have one like that as well. He has a sit mower and says he actually enjoys mowing..says its relaxing. I repay him by buying his favorite beer to put in the cup holder!

Our neighbor across the street plows our driveway when he does his. He just enjoys getting out and doing something. They are really sweet. The wife is always bringing over presents for the kids and the husband offers tools and help whenever he can. He has parkinsons so DH helps him get in wood for the winter and other odd jobs that he can't do anymore. They were very glad that we moved in and renovated our house-- it wasn't very attractive to look at from their porch.

My husband often mows our neighbor's grass. We don't have gigantic yards and he figures it's just a nice thing to do. He doesn't expect anything in return. In turn our neighbors often do nice things for us though. Like this morning we had a huge box of cinnamon buns waiting. Mmmmm..

I don't have neighbors like that, but my parents do! Their neighbors are wonderful - the husband likes to mow the neighbors lawns and in the winter, he'll take his snow-blower and clear everyone's driveways. He loves doing this kind of thing and he is always the first one to lend a hand.

When he goes to Costco, he calls all the neighbors and asks if they need anything. If anyone in the neighborhood is having trouble with their car and needs to get somewhere, he gives them his car for the day. He is the "go to" guy in the neighborhood, no matter what the problem. He is an amazing, amazing, person and I'm so thankful my parents have him as a neighbor!

I'm sure he doesn't expect anything in return, but a cold beer might be welcomed. I wish my neighbors would come mow my lawn. Oh wait, they sorta do. Not my neighbor, but my friend's husband. He's being my surrogate hubby for lawn and garbage run detail for the year. :)

We have Chuck. He is long divorced, long retired, and happy to help just about anyone with anything. He used to be a contractor so he has a garage full of tools he is happy to lend. He is part of the snow-blower brigade and does half the block before the rest of us can find our shovels. He knows everyone and has a "guy" for all occasions so if you need someone to do concrete you call Chuck. If you need someone to repair a gutter, you call Chuck. If you need someone to rewire an outlet, you call Chuck. He has the ear of the mayor so if something is happening on the block, Chuck is on top of it. Plus, according to the kids, he has the BEST driveway for riding scooters and bikes and he doesn't mind in the least that they prefer to play in his driveway. He has a baker friend and ends up passing out fresh bread about once a month. The only thing he won't share is the name of his housekeeper, who comes every two weeks. We have other great neighbors, but Chuck is golden.

My mom has a great neighbor my dad passed away two years ago and this neighbor has mowed her grass fixed her driveway and he gets her wood every winter. Every time she asks how much she owes him he always say oh John(my dad) and I worked it out before he died. So once or twice a year she will buy him gift cards for resturaunts or places like walmart, about $100 worth a year he will refuse money but does accept these. I am just so thankful to him maybe I need to send him a thank you of some kind too:confused3

Reminds me of my dd-he would walk over to his neighbors and help, then the other neighbor figured he better help and suddenly it got to be 4 guys doing one lawn at a time.:rotfl:

When I saw the movie, "Having a Baby" with Kevin Bacon-they showed nutty neighbors cutting lawn and the men cutting each others, it was such a OMG moment, I laughed so hard, I cried.

My neighbor would do that too, so every time I would just buy him a gift Certificate for a Restaurant in town for him and his wife to eat at.
I always had one of my kids bring it to him and tell him thanks.

I would do the normal beers or candy, box of cinnamon buns, etc. But I think he is kind of a healthy guy and family. They grow their own mint leaves for cooking.

DW makes great toffee (with chocolate topping of course). I have snow blowed the same neighbors sidewalks in winter. But he has been beating me to that as wall the last few times. Heheheheheeee

We have a war! Hehehehheee

Our next door neighbor is great about mowing our yard and carrying our trash can back to our backyard after the trash man comes. DH had knee surgery last fall then has been gone most of the time since May with the Army so my neighbor (who is retired Army) has taken it upon himself to assume the trash/grass duty. Works for me!

He also picks up extra veggies at the Farmer's Market and shares with us and brings me the roses from his garden when they bloom.

I baked him cookies a few times but he told me he is on a diet now so I don't know what else I can cook or buy for him.
