Oh goodness, here I am again... haunting the DIS like an old drunk who can't leave the corner tavern. It must mean one of two things: either I'm needing a Disney fix or I'm planning another trip. Yay! It's the latter!
Give your mouse and keyboard a rest for a bit, grab your favorite beverage, and allow me to dish about the details. I think this is going to prove to be quite the journey, and I'd be pleased to have you along for the ride.
First, the cast. This particular production will feature a much smaller cast than my previous WDW trips. In fact it will be just the two of us...
Zippa (me) 45yo... husband, Dad, WDW lover, manly man, teller of tall tales, daily wearer of Disney paraphenalia, encourager, and dreamer.
DW 39yo... my wife of 16+ years; more important to me than oxygen; forgiving; loving; sweet; practically perfect in every way; world class Mom; WDW lover; creative; maker of scrapbooks
We've taken our two children to Disney World 13 times over the past nine years. WDW is the favorite place on earth for everyone in our family. We fit Disney's advertisements perfectly, because that big ol' patch of former swampland in central Florida truly is 'where dreams come true' for my little tribe.
But this next time there will be no kids with us. Not to worry. Bad fortune has not befallen them. They remain healthy and happy as can be. In fact they'll spend the tenure of the vacation time being spoiled by grandparents.
Ahhhh, but not as spoiled as DW and me.
I have arranged a stay for us at the Polynesian.
Did you hear me? I said the Polynesian!!!

. Sweet Georgia Brown! This will be the first time we've ever stayed at a deluxe resort. The best part of all is that she doesn't even know about this trip yet!
Over all these years of going to WDW DW and I have always looked so lovingly upon those monorail resorts. The beautiful trains whisking guests into luxurious oases of themed glory... ah, yes. This is the dream we have shared for over half our married life now -to stay one day in one of these palaces of sensory overload. I suspect you and your significant other have such a dream too -the sort of fantasy you hold hands and giggle about as you lay your heads on the pillow some nights. Perhaps yours is springtime in Paris, a South Seas adventure, or a vacation home in the tropics. Ours is nothing more than a child-free vacation at a deluxe resort at WDW.
In mid-October I decided this dream of ours should wait no longer. I worked furiously to cover details here at home to make the trip possible. I made sure grandparents could keep the kids, made sure DW and I would be able to take off work; arranged care of our dogs; etc. It became clear that this would make a fine Christmas present to DW. So I set about planning to make it happen that way.
We wouldn't be happy going to WDW around Christmas, so we will travel January 15-19, 2010 instead. On Christmas morning I will unveil this surpise to her.
There are so many more details to share. I look forward to sharing them all, but for now this post will have to do. Until next time, gentle reader...
