My Name Is NOT Broccoli!

I was there last year during that weekend but I did not run.
I do believe it includes the MNSSHP ticket but I am not too sure about he Wine and Dine party. It is listed under the half marathon but maybe someone else who may know can jump in here.
Here is the info page for the weekend.

Wine-and- Dine Half Marathon weekend

I got the idea to run from a few others who were going to try it and I really need to commit to a fitness goal and what better way that to have it Disney related?

My DD and I are doing the princess 5k in feb. (My 2nd time her first) and I really wanted to do the halloween one last year but the party tix was for sunday night and she had school on monday so I could not see paying so much to not use the tix. :( I hope they make the party optional or somehow on a sat night this year!

Oh Memom I just saw that Disney announced new Disney stores for 2011 and I was hoping your neck of the woods would be included. I dont see anything closer than Atlanta though :( I am sorry.

Cute picture of the baby gorilla. I could watch them all day. They are so fascinating.

School is closed again tomorrow for us. I am starting to go stir crazy but the boys are loving it.

Happy Snow Day!

I totally agree about not hesitating to take kids out of school for a trip to WDW. Between AK and Epcot there is so much education!

Looking at your pictures of AK is making me somewhat sad that I only had a few short hours to spend there this weekend. :(

There is more to learn at Epcot and AK than we could have time for in many trips. ::yes::

I love that park. I don't understand why some people don't like it at all, but I am glad, in a way, because it leaves more space for those of us who do.

Love it!! But what are donut muffins? Were they created only for DIStown?

Ohh found them on Jackie's report. yum!

They sure looked good, didn't they?
And she has such sweet assistant chefs, too. :)

Great Animal Kingdom pictures! Trent sure loves his nieces. That always makes me smile.

I'm glad you mentioned not hesitating to take children out of school to go to Disney. I have wanted to ask your professional opinion on this MeMom. How do teachers truly feel about kiddos leaving school for a vacation? Is it a big bother to prepare work ahead of time for them to work on? Is a whole school week (5 days) pushing it? Do you think as children get older we should take them out less?

I'm struggling with this. Morghan will be in 7th grade on our next trip (Oct 2011). I worry about taking her out for a week. I will probably do it of course but am going to try and go during a week they have a couple days off already. Any advice? Thank you!

Trent adores those girls. About once a week I will get a text that says 'I miss my rats'.

I only have second-graders, but if someone is going out of town for a while, I only give them the few biggest things to do. If they are going to be gone for a funeral or family event, it's more important that they be a part of all of that than to be sitting in a corner somewhere doing a Math worksheet. I catch them up when they return.

In higher grades, of course it will be more of a factor. Just hope the teachers are understanding and do what you need to do for your family. If they don't like it, they'll get over it in a short time. That's just my very Disney-biased opinion, and probably not the one that all of her teachers are going to have.

Wow that baby gorilla certainly has a BIG head. I say that equals a big brain so she is smart!!
Trent is such a loving Bub trying to feed Bella to the hippo skeleton skull.

We are enjoying our day off here. Our big Hunny Pot dog was stinky so we gave him a bath....
Time for cleaning, cooking and having kids over to eat...
Think we will have Cr of Mushroom soup meatballs with mashed potatoes, some sort of vegetable and rolls. I'll be sure to make enough for leftovers...

Sounds good. I saw your little helper on FB just before I came over here. I was talking to Jill while she was fixing BBQ chicken and broccoli casserole.

I was thinking the same thing. Almost a bobblehead baby gorilla.

You girls better watch yourselves talking about that baby's head! I wouldn't want to make her mama mad! Brooklynn had a big head, too, but she's growing into it.

My Mom and I just decided that it will be a girl's trip and booked our trip!! We always stay at a value resort when we take the kids, so this time we are staying at the Yacht Club! We also decided that we are going to participate in the 2011 Wine & Dine 5k! After my surgery, I am only going to attempt to walk it, but we'll see! It's on my bucket list to participate in a Disney run and now I can cross it off my list!

We will be in the MK on the 1st for sure, so as we get closer we'll have to exchange phone numbers so that we can meet up. We also like to do rope drop, so maybe early in the morning will work best. I'm so excited to meet MeMom's family!

Doing a 5K would be a good bucket list item. :thumbsup2

Staying at Yacht Club - very nice!

We will see you in Magic Kingdom for the big birthday bash. :woohoo:

Since we have so many who may do the 5K, here is the flyer from last year. Registration for this year is Feb 14th.

Count me in this group. Now this snow and ice need to melt so I can train.

Mickey'sHalloween5KFR

Thanks for the information. :)

Thank you!! Does this mean you did it last year? I've only just decided to jump into this and have so many questions. Time to do some research about it and this will really help! The biggest ? I have though, is if this includes a ticket to MNSSHP on the following night? If so, I may have to change my reservation by a night to accommodate so we can attend. Also, if we participate in the 5k, are we able to go to the night party in Epcot? Sorry, like I said, lots of questions!

I hope you get all of your answers. I know I have none. :upsidedow

I did get the text - it must have just been slow. Who knows! I put it on our schedule. So far we are going for Feb/March, I haven't heard ANYTHING back from two jobs I thought I was pretty much a shoe-in. So, perhaps neither is where God wants me. We will see! This Friday is the cut-off, we have to buy plane tickets yet!

Wow! That is a LOT of snow! We are supposed to get 8-12 tonight too. Joe will probably be working from home tomorrow. Henry will be excited and playing tomorrow morning. He's like Brooklynn, he would play all day if I let him! I hope to get a snowman built this time since we didn't do it last blizzard.

The picture of your dog is so cute and funny!

Too funny!!!

I gotta get over to Jackie's report for that recipe, YUM!

Who ever knows about what people do or think on the other side of the interview table. :sad2: Just be glad right now that you don't have to go out in all the snow. If no one has called by plane ticket time, that can be your sign to just forget about them, I guess.

I'd have to be a walker, and I probably wouldn't be very good at that. If I couldn't live up to their time, they'd be picking me up ad driving me over the line, from the way I read it. :rotfl:

Oh, that baby gorilla is so cute! The last time I saw her (or is it a him???) she was still clinging onto her mama. She's really growing up!

Add me to the list of people who really like seeing how much Trent enjoys his nieces - so sweet!

It is a little girl. :cutie: That was the first time I had been able to see her. Once she was around the corner with her mom just out of sight, so I was happy to see her roaming around.

When I see pictures of Trent and the girls, I miss him even more.

My DD and I are doing the princess 5k in feb. (My 2nd time her first) and I really wanted to do the halloween one last year but the party tix was for sunday night and she had school on monday so I could not see paying so much to not use the tix. :I hope they make the party optional or somehow on a sat night this year!

Oh Memom I just saw that Disney announced new Disney stores for 2011 and I was hoping your neck of the woods would be included. I dont see anything closer than Atlanta though I am sorry.

I am sad that they can't see fit to give Nashville one store when so many other places have multiple stores and the nearest on to us in about three hours away. :sad1: Oh, well, it is saving me money, to be honest, so it's probably best.

Cute picture of the baby gorilla. I could watch them all day. They are so fascinating.

School is closed again tomorrow for us. I am starting to go stir crazy but the boys are loving it.

Snow Day #3 for us tomorrow. We now owe them some time. Jill is getting a little stir crazy, but I am happy at home. If I had known we would have all this time, I would have loved to have had the girls stay here again.

I love watching the gorillas, too. It will be fun to watch the baby grow.

Oh my GOSH! That picture of the dog is AWESOME!!! :lmao::rotfl2:
And thank you for sharing the cute pics of the baby gorilla!!! Can we hear an awww.... :cutie:

You girls better watch yourselves talking about that baby's head! I wouldn't want to make her mama mad! Brooklynn had a big head, too, but she's growing into it.

I will not be pointing and laughing at the size of her head with her mother anywhere in sight. :rotfl2: :scared1: I guess even gorillas have that proportion problem for a while. :rotfl2:

Doing a 5K would be a good bucket list item. :thumbsup2

I'd have to be a walker, and I probably wouldn't be very good at that. If I couldn't live up to their time, they'd be picking me up ad driving me over the line, from the way I read it. :rotfl:

Well my first time walking around the neighborhood I was pushing that time linit. I do not consider myself a slow walker but I really need to step it up so I am not swept up. :cool1:

Snow Day #3 for us tomorrow. We now owe them some time.

Snow day #3 for us too. It is messing up 1st semester exams for my DS. Well the information they are giving us is confusing us.
#1- On Friday they were told to expect an exam on Wed. even if they were off Mon and Tues.
#2- message today before school was cancelled- No exam the day they return- it will be 1 day later and the make up day Mon the 17th will not be an exam day.
With the 21st being the end of the semester we are wondering how they are going to get these exams in. It is going to be interesting.

Aw cute baby girl gorilla!!

Wow 3 days off!! I could get so much done at home. They are predicting 12-18 inches here starting before dawn. I know I will probably have to go to work but hopefully the city manager will send us home early. We shall see.

Have a great day off tomorrow MeMom.

Oh the baby gorilla is so cute!

My mom and my sister have the first snow day of the school year tomorrow -- it was called early this afternoon, after all the surrounding cities called it, but the fact that the superintendent called it soon after was amazing since it usually takes him several hours even in cases like that! My sister had to work today (she works with me at the same grocery store) and told our dad that it was the worst crowd she'd ever seen there. Being from Massachusetts does not mean that people don't panic over snow.

My friend (the only friend I have, locally, who "gets" Disney like us and is content to talk about it all the time), is in Disney right now. I wrote on her FB earlier, "so not only are you in Disney World right now, you're also missing a blizzard tonight into tomorrow, so I basically hate you right now" (totally joking of course), and she commented back saying that she is wearing an "I'm celebrating!" pin, but added "no snow" to it. :lmao: She's there with her parents and two friends -- one of her friends is there for the first time! They went to Epcot first when they arrived yesterday, and my friend texted me that her first-timer friend was basically speechless -- just walking around looking at everything. They took her on Soarin', and she loved it! She works with us, too, so I really can't wait to hear her take on everything.

I was hoping the "cute thing" would be the baby gorilla.
She is adorable! I want her for myself. :lovestruc

I'm sure her big momma would have a problem with that...

I could watch her all day.

All this talk about the October trips is getting me excitted! :woohoo:

Hi just catching up. It has been interesting reading all the posts about preperations.
Have to do my catching up tonight. Tomorrow my computer goes to the doctor for a while to get de-virused. :sad2:
I will miss my distime.
Hopefully my daughter will let me borrow her laptop some??

Well, I had an interesting weekend :rolleyes1  It was good and bad. Apparently my grandma fell and hit her head at some point Friday night/Saturday morning. She's VERY stubborn and decided that she would just ignore it. Then Jeremy(who was down for the weekend) went over there Saturday morning and called my mom who told him to take her to the hospital just in case. Grandma was not happy  They did some tests and everything was fine but they said she should stay over night for observation. Now she really wasn't happy(I wonder where my stubborn-ness comes from?) We had our late extended family Christmas on sunday, and luckily my grandma got out of the hospital in time(She's fine). After all of that, we had a very nice day with the family. I got to see my little guys together for the first time in a while. After presents and dinner, me, Josh, Jeremy, Kazin, Caleb, and two of my second cousins went into the other room...with the ping pong table. I didn't play, but I got to watch the very interesting Josh vs. Jeremy match :rotfl: Kazin decided he wanted to "help" so he climbed a chair next to the table and grabbed the extra paddle. Instead of hitting the ball, he just threw the paddle onto the table :rotfl2:

I'm so excited because we have a snow day tomorrow! :dance3: We almost never have snow days. Our district was the last one to cancel school. We're supposed to get 12-20 inches.

It is 13 degrees here this morning. Seven weeks from right now, I will be walking around taking pictures of palm trees. I will be much warmer. :cool2:

Stay warm and cozy on this Sunday before/of the winter storm, our southern friends!

Northern friends, I don't know how you take this for long stretches of time.

I'm used to it  I loooove snow. Winter is my favorite season. But by February, I'm ready for a break from the cold so Disney is a good place to go ;) But that plan kind of failed last year when it was 40 degrees the whole week :rotfl: It's usually in the 60's there in Feb so that was weird. But even when it's in the 60's I see people down there in winter coats. I can't help but laugh :rotfl:

I just had to comment on this, being in high school and such. Whether I'm going to Disney or a funeral, all of my teachers will give me the same amount of work.

I don't understand this thought process. If you're going to a funeral you should have some slack. My friend Reid had to go to a funeral on short notice and missed the day we had to turn in our biggest essay of the year and she gave him a zero. I just don't get it.

Thoughts, teachers?

Great update - a really good set of pics!!!
I love the baby Gorilla - so furry!
I am SO excited we're going THIS YEAR!

Yesterday it was 7 months until we go - so this time in 7 months we will soon be waking up for our first day - and guess where we're going??? MAGIC KINGDOM!!! xxx

Snow Day #3 for us, too. I am with Jill -- going a bit stir crazy. I made a to-do list for myself today -- I sat around and read all day yesterday and ignored my family, so today I am going to be a better Snow Day Mom.

In case anyone didn't see the recipe for the Doughnut Muffins on my PTR, here it is again:

Doughnut Muffins

Charles asked what the bakery was making today. I think I will try these since I have an unopened jar of strawberry preserves (surely that will work instead of apricot).

Apricot Bars

:lmao: about the Naked Mole Rats. Too funny! Heaven knows, I hear Connor asking why those two aren't with the others every time I see a picture of them.

The Okapi stuffed animals are very cute, but not nearly as cute as the baby gorilla. It's growing up very quickly! :goodvibes

Question for Jill and any other Mummy's & MeMommy's of under 3s!

What do you do with feeding your toddler at Disney, in the parks, resorts etc... Toby will be 2yrs old when we go and he has a pretty good appetite. We have no problem with paying for him to have his own meal but the menus all seem to state 3-9 yr olds so I am worrying they won't let him order anything (not that he'll order himself :rotfl: ). Or does he eat off our plates? I'm guessing buffets will be easier?

I have posted on the restaurant board too. I hope you don't mind me asking! Just worrying a bit

Apricot Bars

Have you tried some Main Street Bakery recipies? Since Charles is such a foodie maybe the final nail to loving Disney would be a thing or two from Disney?
Then again, if you can make things from Disney he may decide just to have you make them and not want to go. :sad2: ooooh tough call.

Of course we want to see the strawberry bars. YUM.

AT buffets he can have his own plate without paying. At other table services he can eat off your plate at no charge or you can opt to buy him a kid's meal. Same thing at counter services you can share with him at no cost or you can buy him his own. My suggestion would be to just buy an extra side and you should be able to easily split your meal and that with him. Don't mind you asking at all. Glad to help you get prepared for Toby's first trip.

Great Animal Kingdom pictures! Trent sure loves his nieces. :lovestruc That always makes me smile.

I will probably do it of course but am going to try and go during a week they have a couple days off already. Any advice from a person I know is a wonderful teacher? :goodvibes Thank you!

Here's my experience of taking the kids out of school... Elementary (k-6) no problem and the teachers were really cool about it and the kids didn't have any problems with getting/doing homework...

Junior High (7-8) is a whole different ballgame... DD was in 7th when we took her out of school for a week to go to Disney and she had TONS of homework to do... And catching up was tough... She still got straight A's but she told me NEVER AGAIN was I (the mom) allowed to take her out of school for a week to go on vacation!!!

I say try it and see how your daughter does... And hopefully you won't get the same lecture I got...

Trent adores those girls. About once a week I will get a text that says 'I miss my rats'.

Awww!!! :goodvibes

Thank you so much! I always feel like I have to justify things, all the time and in any situation. But as they are getting older and I can feel the years start to slip by, I realize that family time is just very precious. I like your Disney-biased attitude! :thumbsup2

Hey Kelli - thought I'd throw my two cents in here for you too. I never had a problem taking the kids out of elementary school, but as NancyLuvsMickey said, Jr High was totally different. The work load is just so much heavier. If there is a week when they are already out for a couple of days, I'd lean towards picking that week to go on your trip. Make sure you talk to Morghan's teachers early and let them know she'll be gone, maybe she can get the work earlier and have some time to work on it before you go, that way she won't be so far behind when you get back. :thumbsup2
