My Name Is NOT Broccoli!

Aww love the bow in Bella's hair!

YAY for Brooklynn figuring out how to get Bella to stand with her in pictures :) I can't wait to hear how she does with the characters on your next trip!

How often I have said that 'they' (which could mean anyone in the higher ranks who makes decisions about schools) should come and spend real time in a classroom. Not just come during Read Me Week to read a story and hand out Dum Dums. Teach a lesson. Line them up for lunch. Referee an argument that is being held over from P.E. Give out supplies constantly to a kid whose parent doesn't think it is important enough that they have a simple pencil and paper, yet every time they come in to question something that happens, they have their finery and their fancy nails and tatoos and such. Button the pants, or try to, of a kid wearing clothing two sizes too small. Tie shoes tighter of another who is wearing his big brother's shoes. Give some quailty time to a child who is serious need of it because she goes straight from school to her mom's restaurant and stays there until ten o'clock every night. Watch kids get that glassy look in their eyes when you tell them it's time for another test. Fill out 587 questions on three different forms on a troubled student. Really it's just about twenty questions worded a million different ways. I could go on.

Oh, MeMom, this made me cry because it is so true!!!

Love how Brooklyn convinced Bella to get in the pictures.

Brooklynn was a great big sister holding Bella's hand.

I am with you every time I visit the kitchen section I pick up the measuring cups and spoons. So far I have resisted, but this might be the trip temptation becomes too much. I actually need new measuring spoons and cups. Mine are over 30 years old. One of my favorite shops at MK is the little kitchen shop around the corner from the HH.

Great, great character pictures :thumbsup2 So happy Big Sis is helping out :goodvibes I really like the picture of Bella watching Donald ;) Too cute :)

So happy Carter is doing well

I laughed right out aloud about Bella and her potato parts  And then Heather mentioned her daughter and the gems....I bet this happens quite often because a lot of the merchandise is strategically placed at eye level.

Hope you are staying warm....I know your happy, sunny Disney pictures sure are helping me. It is frigid here and will be getting colder throughout the weekend. Sunday is a high of 10 and low of -8. I think I will just look at the outside from my windows!!

Tracy

I am happy to hear that Brooklynn's friend did so well in surgery. It is amazing what doctors can do.

I love all the character pictures. Bella is getting closer to the characters, she will be right up there with Brooklynn soon.

I have finally made it out of lurkdom! I've always read the DIS at work, but was unable to post from there. I now have a laptop at home and am trying to figure all of this out! I have really enjoyed following along on all of your trips. My last trip was before Christmas in 2006. I am hoping to go for my 50th in 2013. In the meantime, I will continue to get my disney "fix" from everyone's trip reports!

Coming out of lurkdom to say DITTO!!!! I wish the policymakers had a clue what it is really like to be in a classroom trying to make a difference for the students and jump through all of the hoops they keep throwing out for us poor teachers. Okay....end rant.

I am really enjoying your trip report. I live in Middle TN btw about 80 miles south of Nashville. My family will hopefully be taking our first trip to Disney World the second week of June. :yay:

Teachers are sooooo underpaid, underrated, and underunderstanded. my daughters word.:)
I often send little thank you notes to my kids teachers, even the high school teachers. Isn't it just so sad that they seem surprised to recieve them.
All teachers aren't great, but most are and for that

All YOU TEACHERS......THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!:banana::dance3::grouphug::teacher::hug:

KIM

Trying to catch up...can't even catch my breath during the week! Home with Brook today....sick again...poor thing.
Anyways, I am still chuckling over the the potato head parts..lol! It just reminds me of the ages when my children couldn't leave the house without having something in each hand. So cute.

What a great time at Epcot so far! I've never been right at the rope like that..cool. I am always a layer or two back. The meet and greet was so cute! Cracking up over Donald and all of Bella's reactions! Brooklynn is so cute with her little sister! I love her hair pulled back like that too!

I hope your Brooklynn is feeling better this morning.

As for taking things with her, Brooklynn loves to have her animal friends accompany her. Bella is satisfied just to have her little Mickey blanket (the one in the last batch of pictures) and her paci, but Brooklynn prefers a whole pride of lions in assorted shapes and sizes.

We have a system at Epcot rope drop. One person (usually Jill, as she is fastest) goes for Soarin' fastpasses and the others get in line for characters. We let a few people get in first and if she's not back by the time we're close to the front, we let a couple of families pass us. By then, she's back, and we're good to go.

Bella is really making progress with the characters! Thank goodness for that sweet hand-holding sister!

Brooklynn does an A+ job at posing with characters. She knows exactly what to do, so hopefully she will show Bella how to do the same.

First, what great news for Carter! Prayer does indeed work.

What awesome character pictures!! So cool!! I'm
glad they've figured out a way to get Bella in there.

Jill thinks Bella will do better with characters on this trip, as she is starting to understand it all and know who the characters are.

Wow! You took some fantastic shots of the characters this morning! *Almost* makes me think about rope drop... almost. If only it weren't so early.

Rope drop is not for everyone, but it works wonderfully for us. Especially in Magic Kingdom - wiping out all of Fantasyland with no lines is something we love. ::yes::

awww! so much fun. i'm going to be an aunt next month and i'm already {secretly} planning her first dis trip!

It will be such fun to plan and dream of taking her on all the kiddie rides. :woohoo:

That's awesome that Brooklynn figured out a way to get Bella in the pictures! I also love Brooklynn's haircut, it looks adorable. The matching outfits are super cute, too!

We didn't end up getting that much this time -- maybe five or six inches, but it was the light, fluffy stuff, and now the sun is out! It gets humid up here in the summer, but nowhere near as hot as it gets for you guys. My friend went to Alabama to visit a friend over the summer a couple of years ago and she said it was awful. I'll just take her word for it, since I am the opposite of you and have a much harder time handling the heat.

We were supposed to get more flurries last night, but it looks about the same as it did yesterday to me. We've got more coming Sunday night and Thursday, I believe, but I hope it's just flurries.

The air does get thick down here in the summer. It's hard to breathe sometimes, and just walking to your car you can break out in a sweat.

Aww love the bow in Bella's hair!

YAY for Brooklynn figuring out how to get Bella to stand with her in pictures I can't wait to hear how she does with the characters on your next trip!

She is warming up to her Disney friends. We'll see how she does again in five short weeks! :dance3:

Oh, MeMom, this made me cry because it is so true!!!

Love how Brooklyn convinced Bella to get in the pictures.

I just think it would be good for the lawmakers to spend some time in the trenches. :thumbsup2

Brooklynn is a good big sister. When I put up those pictures, I just wanted to give her a big hug. :lovestruc

Yes, I love the kitchen stuff! My kitchen isn't decorated for the red & black or for the light blue & white sets WDW sells, but just having certain little things in the drawers to pull out and remind you of Disney when you cook is nice.

We're thinking of doing a Chef Mickey Day with the little cousins, so I am betting I will finally make a couple of those purchases that have been on hold. We were going to do it at spring break, but since Bella's party is the first part of April, I think I'll see if they'd like to do that in June. I'm going to try to find some cheap little chef hats and let them make their own pizzas, salads, and desserts. Don't you think that would be a fun Disney kids' day?

Great, great character pictures So happy Big Sis is helping out I really like the picture of Bella watching Donald Too cute

Tracy

I guess I won't complain about our overnight 15, then. We'll be in the high 20's today. Yes, you should stay in!!!

I guess other people's kids have probably strolled away with stuff, too, so I'm not going to feel too bad about it. They probably have 500,000 parts in Once Upon a Toy, and Bella didn't make away with any really great ones. ;)

I am happy to hear that Brooklynn's friend did so well in surgery. It is amazing what doctors can do.

I love all the character pictures. Bella is getting closer to the characters, she will be right up there with Brooklynn soon.

Jill thinks she'll do a lot better this time. It may take her a day to warm up, but she'll probably do well when left to her own decision.

It is definitely amazing what they can do with heart issues these days. We've had people at church who had what sounded like really serious stuff, and they were home in a couple of days. Chalk that up to lots of smart people and good research. They have made great strides in so many areas in the medical field.

You will love being in Disney World on your birthday!
The DIS is the place to get your Disney fix, alright! :goodvibes

I know, when I typed all that I thought to myself - RANT!
Most people just don't have a clue what it is like in the classroom.

You'll have to come the next time we have a Nashville DIS meet. It'll probably be at Cool Springs, since there is no Opry Mills any more.

Teachers are sooooo underpaid, underrated, and underunderstanded. my daughters word.

KIM

I'm liking that underpaid part. Can we make her the head of the Teachers' Salaries Department??? :cheer2:

I'm not greedy. Maybe if I could just have enough to cover two Disney trips a year... ;) I'll pay for the others out of my regular salary, and then two out of my new raise.
Yeah, that sounds good! :goodvibes

I'm not one of them, but we do have some AWESOME teachers that hang out around here. I just know they have some incredible classrooms and put so much time and effort into making things great for their students. They do need to be applauded, for sure!

Look at the little boy's face. He is thrilled!

SSRStayOct2010391.jpg

so sweet! i recently looked at a client's disney trip pictures on facebook and they had lunch at hollywood & dine with handy manny. her little boy is a HUGE fan and the pictures of him with handy manny actually made me cry....they were SO SWEET! made me realize why i do this disney travel agent thing (other than living vicariously through my clients). i can't wait to see seth there! i really, really hope he doesn't freak out when he sees the characters. it will break my heart. but he's a very laid back kid so hopefully he'll be okay.

so i don't mean to be rude but i have to ask, what did brooklynn think of the little person CM? did she even notice?

Donald was playing Peek-a-Boo with a CM cleaning windows.

SSRStayOct2010404.jpg

:lmao:

Bella is interested in what Donald is up to.

SSRStayOct2010406.jpg

great picture!

glad the hand-holding trick worked! i'm sure bella will be running up to characters and giving them a hug in no time!

Continuing on in Epcot.

I wanted to get a good picture of this for the project I was/am working on for school.

SSRStayOct2010416.jpg

Due to us being out so much for snow and conflict with making up testing, we've decided to postpone this until sometime after spring break. We were going to do it in January, originally, just to have something fun to help get us through the long, cold, boring (no holidays) month, but all the time off has helped us breeze through January. Doing it later in the year will allow us to cover more skills and gather more goodies for our store. :thumbsup2

SSRStayOct2010418.jpg

Next, how about some fun with Nemo and some DIS kids?

SSRStayOct2010419.jpg

These are laashley's kids, Chloe and Noah.

SSRStayOct2010420.jpg

We all went under the sea together.

SSRStayOct2010421.jpg

What a great queue this is!

SSRStayOct2010422.jpg

SSRStayOct2010423.jpg

You can barely see some of these, but I'll leave them in and you can use your imagination to make them bright and clear.

Educational stuff. :)

The kids are fascinated with all of it.

I'm a big slobbery baby when it comes to Disney magic. I can watch a youtube video of people I do not know, nor will I ever know, and it brings tears to my eyes to see some of their interactions.

We are all looking forward to seeing Seth's first Disney trip in pictures and videos. This has been a long time coming! :yay:

Brooklynn looked at the man for a second, but were were too busy moving through the line, getting the autograph book ready, etc. for her to say anything then. It seems like she might have said something about him after we were finished, but if she did, I really can't recall what she said, and it must have been no big thing. That's really a good place for him to work, because he was right there with them to guide them along.

*************************************

I would love to take my class here!

SSRStayOct2010439.jpg

SSRStayOct2010441.jpg

Hidden Mickey.

SSRStayOct2010442.jpg

The kids were just going from one window to another following the sea animals. I loved watching them!

I would love to have an information center like this set up in my classroom.

SSRStayOct2010444.jpg

I have a Nemo center where the kids match the characteristics to the sea creature. It's just laminated cards and pictures put together with a Nemo party table cut-out, but they love it.

Where to next?

SSRStayOct2010446.jpg

SSRStayOct2010447.jpg

Mr. Ray!

SSRStayOct2010448.jpg

Okay, I admit, and I know you are not surprised...
I want a stingray tank in my classroom, too. :cool1:

SSRStayOct2010450.jpg

I could work at a place like this and be very happy.

SSRStayOct2010451.jpg

SSRStayOct2010452.jpg

SSRStayOct2010453.jpg

Off we go to see the turtle dude.
Neither Brooklynn nor Lola wanted to sit down front.

SSRStayOct2010454.jpg

SSRStayOct2010455.jpg

I hate this part, and I am always glad when the big guy finally moves.

SSRStayOct2010456.jpg

After seeing Crush, you must go and be eaten by Bruce, of course.

No flash.

While we were exploring this area, another DIS family appeared!
LoveMyTwoPrincesses and her daughters, Erin and Ava, joined in for a big DIS picture. Noah didn't want to be in the picture with all those girls.

SSRStayOct2010463.jpg

Sorry I've been MIA for so long. First you, MeMom, being a thief and now sweet Bella?! It must run in the family.:lmao:
One time, when Emily was little we were waiting for our buzzer to go off for Cape May and my MIL was in the gift shop with her. She manages to walk out with a Minnie Mouse doll that is bigger than her.:lmao: I was surprised the alarm didn't go off. When I brought it back to the CM a minute later and I said that my daughter accidently walked out with this she gave me the "Mhm, sure" look.
Glad to hear Carter is doing well.
I agree with everything you said about teachers. How fun to be family of the day and get treated like royalty at Pizzafari.
I love the seas! It always surprises me at how fast people walk out after the ride.

I'm not one of them,

You did not just "say" that!!!!! That is so not true! It's so obvious that you care about your students.

but we do have some AWESOME teachers that hang out around here.

This is very true! I wish Hannah could have all of ya'll for her teacher!

OH YES you are!!!!!!!! :goodvibes

Weare supposed to get another storm. They are saying Tuesday. we shall see, none of the weather people will committ.

Thanks for the pm. We had so much fun at the dismeet! The seas was a perfect place to chat and see the fishies:thumbsup2. I think Noah decided playing with the sharks was less scary than being around all the girls!:lmao: He loves that play area!

Hurray for Carter!!!
I would not worry about the head or parts-it happens :)
Great pics and some fun Dis meets!!!

You are an awesome teacher!!! I agree that you all need more $$ more time and more support

You are the ring leader of the awesome teacher club here on the DIS. Don't discount your value to us all! I totally look to you for inspiration!:worship:

A big Minnie doll, huh?
We're having a Dalmatian party for Bella in April.
I'll have to see what they've got in black and white and spots all over.

There is so much that people overlook in Disney World. I know I see something new every time.

It's so obvious that you care about your students.

This is very true! I wish Hannah could have all of ya'll for her teacher!

I do care about my students. If I won the lottery, though, I could walk out the door and never look back. I think good, good, good teachers would be the ones who could honestly say they would still teach. I might want to work part-time, but it would be down at Animal Kingdom, not at my school. ;)

That is a whole lot of DIS girls!

A very cute bunch of DIS girls, too. :)

Weare supposed to get another storm. They are saying Tuesday. we shall see, none of the weather people will committ.

It is in the mid-30's here and feeling pretty good. We are going to rejoice at anything in the 40's when it gets here. We'll see what happens this coming week as far as snow and ice days out of school

Thanks for the pm. We had so much fun at the dismeet! The seas was a perfect place to chat and see the fishies. I think Noah decided playing with the sharks was less scary than being around all the girls! He loves that play area!

That's such a neat area. All that shark stuff is cool.
Maybe we'll have trips at the same time again sometime.

Hurray for Carter!!!
I would not worry about the head or parts-it happens
Great pics and some fun Dis meets!!!

I agree that you all need more $$ more time and more support

I am blessed to have a job, but if the numbers on my checks were higher, I'd be good with that. ;)

You are the ring leader....

That's the only part I am keeping of your post. I might be a ringleader, but it's not of awesome teaching. :rotfl: If I ever won the millions or a wealthy Prince Charming (in his lumberjack clothes ) ever swept me away, I'd take my pictures and pin board out of my classroom and put in my two weeks' notice in a heartbeat. Neither one of those things is going to happen, so I muddle through as best I can. ;) I think a great teacher would win those millions and still keep teaching.

Aren't you supposed to be trying on dresses right now instead of over here saying crazy things?!?!?

Jill just texted that she put up a picture of Brooklynn in a hamster ball. I'm going to go look at it for about one second.
