Spread cement on the bedroom floor where a good size area had lost a lot of material. Now the floor is more level, which is a good thing for our rug installation later in the week.
Spread three bags of mulch outside and put down some grass seed in an area that has never shown any desire to let grass live. Maybe I'll get lucky if I really keep after it.

Woke up to absolutely perfect day to paint and was outside, brush in hand, by 9:30. First I had to drop the car off across the street at our local fix it place. I lost my breaks yesterday while I was out shopping!
I had tried to convince myself that the area I wanted to paint really wasn't THAT high. But standing on the ground and looking up at the highest peak of the house, that was pretty hard. I gritted my teeth, took a deep breath and climbed the ladder really slowly. Before long, I was as comfortable with this job as I felt I could be. At one point I was nearly 30 feet off the ground!
Two hours later, I had finished the trim on that entire side of the house. It's amazing how empowering doing something that really scares you can be.

The last three days have been a blur of painting activity with a rug replacement thrown in for good measure. There has been an unexpected benefit to all this exercise madness. Although I am ranging from tired to exhausted, overall I am finding that my back isn't bothering me any where near as much as I had thought it would. Wednesday, 8/25, my son and I removed all the furniture from my bedroom except for the bed. Thursday morning, I got the bed, mattresses and box springs out myself.
The new rug looks wonderful. I had to do some touch up painting to the bottom of the walls. There are no baseboards in that room. That will be an on going project for the next several days.
After the rug was installed and I had finished painting for the day, we got to move all the furniture back into the room. Then, just for the fun of it, I went out and mowed half the lawn last night. I think that bothered my back more than the moving.
After not hearing from the first realtor for nearly a week, in desperation, I called another one. This is the woman I used three years ago when we were just toying with the idea of moving to Florida. She is a manager now and doesn't do any selling so she had one of her associates talk to me. Initially he sent me 5 houses to look at, only one of which is what we were looking for. He said that was all he had in our price range. What I don't understand is when I look on the Orlando Sentinel website or Yahoo, there are a lot more. I sent him another Email yesterday expanding on what I had asked for in a house and location but I haven't heard anything back.
I'm not sure what is going on down there. Three years ago I had real estate people begging to show me houses. Now we can't get anyone to help us out. Very strange. Last night I contacted a third agency via email. I want to give them a call today.

Started painting at 8 a.m. and continued until 12:30 p.m. on what turned out to be the hottest day of the summer. The heat index (temperature and humidity) was 97! Painting is a funny thing. At first you think you're only going to touch up an area here and there. Then you see what a difference the new areas are and, before you know it, you're painting everything. So I'm not going to say I'm almost done with this project but I sure accomplished a lot today.
The grass I planted in the dead zone is actually coming up. The weather people are promising cooler temps for the beginning of next week so I'll try to fill in the rest of the bare areas.
Realtor number 2 sent us some more homes to look at. This was a better batch and I'm frantic to get to Florida to see them in person. I still don't see that happening until at least the 3rd week in September and maybe not until the 4th.
Started keeping a closer eye on Hurricane Frances. Good Grief!
