My mother passed away Saturday.....

With the help from Hospice of the Bluegrass, and lots of morphine, she died peacefully at home as she wanted. I was holding her hand when she took her last breath. As some of you know, I bought DVC with the gift she gave me before she died. Although I love having DVC, of course I'd rather have my mother back.

On the up side, my first trip home on June 20th is a go. I'm glad I've gotten all the planning completed because my heart isn't into it now. The planning did serve as a great distraction/escape from what was going on in "real life", but I still feel a bit guilty planning/estimating the time of her death in order to make my ressies.....but, I guess that's the planner in me. I must say, I did a pretty good job of it. I've got just enough time to help my father prepare thier 4BR house to put on the market for sale before I go on the trip. (He wants a smaller house with NO STAIRS.)

Hopefully, I'll be able to talk Dad into taking a trip with me in October. Christmas is out this year as my new grandchild is due during the time I'd planned to go. I need to be here in order to begin my Disney brainwashing,,err, I mean help care for her/him.

Visitation is on Tuesday & the funeral Wednesday and much to do afterwards so I might not get to DIS until the weekend.

My mother passed away in December of last year just after her only Granddaughter was born. We used some of the money from the inheritance to add points at BWV. I like you would rather have my Mother than the money but mydaughter will grow up knowing that her trips to Disney every year are due in large part to the Grandmother she never knew but who loved her so much.

My sincere condolences on the loss of your mother. I think I know how you are feeling because we were able to buy DVC with the money my mom left me when she died.

Some of my best memories of my mom are at WDW so it just seemed natural. Now whenever I go to WDW or on DCL (she would have LOVED DCL) I say a little prayer of thanks to her.

My prayers are with you and your family this week. While on your June trip take a few minutes someplace your mom might enjoy (a guiet bench in one of the parks, your balcony, or a favorite resturant) and bring her there with you mentally.

Jennymouse - So sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. My Grandmother passed away about three months before my daughter was born. (My daughter was my Mom's first grandchild). I'll never forget what my Mom said to me after Kristin was born. She told me that that night was the first full night's sleep she had since her Mom had died. It felt like God was telling her that now she had someone new to love and to give her grief for her Mom to Him. I hope your new grandchild fills at least some of the hole in your heart.
