I had this same experience 6 weeks ago when my 76 year old dad, who also had Alzheimers, didn't wake up. I was so thankful that he passed peacefully, and while he still knew us, and was having good days (I'd had my best day with him in a long time just the weekend before) But it's such a deeply felt loss.
