Haiti halts flights into overburdened airport

Washington (CNN) -- The Haitian government has halted flights into the Port-au-Prince airport for now, because ramp space is too crowded, and there is no fuel, a spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration said Thursday.
Laura Brown said no flights from the United States will be taking off until clearance is given.
One military aircraft was circling the airport in a holding pattern, and 10 civilian aircraft were waiting to land, Brown said.
