My mom's in Haiti... [UPDATE: One year later, pg 18!]

First thing my daughter asked when she got home from school was whether or not you had heard from your mother. Thoughts and prayers from Long Island.

There were so many Americans over there on mission trips-I heard about a couple this morning on the way to work and started praying. Didn't get on the boards until now, but your Mom and her group are on my prayer list now too.

Never give up hope or faith. God is watching over you all right now.
I will be praying for you and your mom.:lovestruc

Kathy, Lots of prayers from the Varley household. Hope she's ok! Can't imagine being there right now.

Even more prayers for you mom, her team and all the victims and survivors.

I will be making a donation through my local church to the United Methodist Committee on Relief to help the people of Haiti recover and rebuild.

Kathy, your mom and her team along with all of Haiti are in my thoughts and prayers.

Shannon

We've been thinking of you, your Mom, and the team the past couple of days too. I hope you hear from someone soon. While I'm not glad that this happened while they were there I am glad that they could help and comfort the people that they could while this was going on.

Many prayers and thoughts for them and their continued well being.

Hurry Home!

:grouphug:

our thoughts and prayers are with all of the people that are dealing with the after math of this horible time. it is so good to see so many people gathering together to get everything cleaned up and hopefully find everyone. :wizard:

I've gotten word that my mom's team has all made it to the airport in Haiti, apparently transported there by UN vehicles. Still not a lot of info on when they'll fly out, how (sounds like they've been cleared through the State Dept for military transport), or what destination, but this is very welcome progress. Also no real information on their physical condition.

Thank you to everyone for the continued prayers and support.

Thanks for the update. I am sure you feel a great deal of relief. I wish them safe travel. I will continue to send positive thoughts to the people of Haiti.

I do feel a great deal of relief. Not knowing her location or what the prospects were for evacuating her was very frustrating. I couldn't get there to help her, and didn't know who could. Started looking at maps to figure out if I should fly to Jamaica and try to charter a boat to sail to Haiti and play "pirate rescue"! pirate:

There are still a LOT of unknowns, and I won't really feel better until I can talk to her, but this is very good news.

Kathy, things are sounding positive and while I know that there are still unknowns, they are in a place of safekeeping and that is wonderful.

Still sending out as many good vibes as I can!

Great news on the progress of the evacuation!!!! Can't wait to read that she is back home, safe and sound.

(Although I am glad you aren't having to play "pirate rescue" - it would have made for a great TV movie of the week.) ;)
