My Mom called me last might bubbling that she had won a trip to WDW! She knows how much effort I put into getting the best rate for our trips so she was thrilled . This was the "deal" left on her answering machine!!

You won a trip to WDW at the Ramada Plaza. Includes4days 3 nights at the Ramada Palza in Orlando, 3 days/2 nights in Fort Lauderdale FLorida and 2 complientary tickets to WDW all for 99/person.

It was heart breaking to tell her it was probably a timeshare gimic and a very crappy Hotel.

I told her the post card she got from the real WDW resort last year was worth it's weight in Gold and maybe she'll get one this year!!

If anyone is interested in this "deal" PM me and I can give you the details. MOm is mad at WDW because she thinks they "sold" her info to this place/

More than likely she entered a contest somewhere. The last thing Disney would want to do is sell her info to another party. They would want her in the DVC, not some outside resort. As for the card promo she got last year, call WDW and ask them to send her another. They may or may not oblige, but it will increase her odds of getting one. Was it a DVC promo?

I wonder if this is the same "deal" we had a phone call about. My dd answered the call and just told them no. It was $99. nitely for 3 days. She had never heard of the resort..

Herc.

We got one too. Sounds very simular to your moms. Bet WDW has nothing at all to do with this promotion. By mentioning the name and somehow providing "some sort" of disney ticket they get lots of people excited. Sad that it is most likely a gimmic and lots of people get disapointed.

It's funny, I just called home a few minutes ago to check my messages and on my machine I had a message for the very same thing! It must be some kind of mass marketing thing, and Iknow we get similar things faxed to us at work all the time. Personally I think it has to be some kind of scam, you know what they say about something that seems too good to be true - it probably is!

Its a timeshare thing. There are commmercials on TV around here with this same thing.

Not only is this a timeshare gimmick...it's a scam as best as I could tell while checking it out...search for Ramada Plaza Resorts in "Ask Jeeves" or similar search site...you'll find a lot of complaints out there & even some class action lawsuits...be careful with this one!!!

Last year I got a postcard about a similar "deal" from Ramada Plaza Resorts. I suspected the worst since these kind of "deals" are usually timeshare-related or an outright fraud. I did some research and confirmed my suspicions that this company is bad news. Stay far away!

I also do not know how they got my name for the mailing.

They advertise that deal ...all the time on Go2Orlando

i think i have seen it on Resbid as well.

Its heartbreaking true...but no deal

Must be mass marketing because ALL my relatives have gotten the same message. I think they got the list from AmEx my Mom never does contests, probably why she was so excited. Her postcard last year was the "Bring the Grandkids to WDW" with the rates being hte same as AP rates. She was pretty proud of her self that Disney was "begging "her and not me to come to WDW,lol! You have to realize that I brought my [arents to WDW for the first time kicking and screaming "we'll go only for the grandchildren". Now they are both closet WDW addicts, LOL!

Hey- I also got the phone call... we too have an Amex so maybe that is where they are getting their names???

As many have already said....stay away!!! My friends fell for this "deal 2 years ago. I told them it was a scam and they said..."But it's Ramada"! When they got there the hotel was nice BUT they were told that it was overbooked and were sent to a really shabby one. They had flown from CA to find that they had been duped. They called around and got a really good deal at a different hotel. Basically, they had to cut their losses and had a good time anyway.

My friend got a phone call to...she knew enough to call me to ask my advice.....whew.....steered her clear.....

Got a similar offer on my fax machine and so did my friend. I think it was the same deal except they were charging $149 (we're in Canada). My friend was gloating that he'd found a better deal than ... I pointed out even that you'd probably have to listen to a several hour sales pitch for a timeshare. Definately, not how I'd want to spend my vacation. But now that I hear about the lawsuit ... I will mention that to my friend.

I'm reminded of the old saying....."If it sounds to good to be true....it probably is!" It is a shame that ANYONE lets themselves get involved with such unscrupulous (sp?) business people. :(
