My mom & Her liver

Well...

Forty years ago today, my mom said hello to me for the first time, as she brought me into the world on 3/25/1970 at 2:17 AM (sorry it was so early!).

Today, on 3/25/2010 at 6:15 PM, I had to say goodbye to her for the last time as she passed away peacefully at MassGeneral Medical Center. Her liver was too deteriorated for me to be able to donate only a part, and she was too sick to have the operation to have a whole liver transplanted. My dad, husband, daughter and myself were all there to say goodbye, and they removed all of the tubes that attached her to this life, and she slowly faded away. They tell us she was in no pain, and that she went peacefully.

I'm so sorry I wasn't able to help you mom... I would have done anything. I wanted to; we were so close. I'm sorry I wasn't faster, or skinnier when all this began; I wish I had KNOWN.

Sorry to hear about your mom. I remember when you had posted a little while ago about wanting to donate and not being able to. I'm sure the helpless feeling was terrible but I'm sure your mom knew you did all you could.
