My Magical Quest for the Cupcake! 13 days of Craziness! Update 10/30 page 10

I really like the dress and skirt you made! I am just in the beginning stages of learning to sew. I've conquered a skirt, some purses, and this weekend am going to get fabric to make all of the things for the new nursery. I'm due Feb 3rd. We are considering going with a Disney theme but I'll see what I find at JoAnne's. I really like that you made the dress both grown up, and whimsical at the same time. Great idea!

Hi Shawna,
I loved the Chef Mickey's update!! It took me 2 days to get back on here, as my kids have been on Webkinz and hogging my PC> Time to get my own laptop I think  .

Anyway glad you liked Pop. We stayed there on Kaylee's 8th Bday for a long weekend. I agree the Cupcakes at Poly are delish. Unfortunately I stayed away from there this year :sad2: . Where else do they sell them now? Your vidoe and pics from Chef Mickey's are really cute. You had me crying with your stroy about Jake and Mickey :sad1: . Yeah Jake on the characters!! Love Morgan's Minnie dress, you did a great job on that! This is the first trip we went to Chef Mickey's and Kaylee didn't wear a minnie mouse outfit :guilty: because we all wore our matching shirts for the FW cruise. So happy to hear Morgans' ankle is doing better and she dance :dance3: , here I'll use your favorite smileys :rotfl2: .

I'm caught up!:woohoo: Am I going to need a box of tissues with me to read this TR? I cried when I read the Chef Mickey update when Jake gave Mickey a huge hug. :lmao: at your description of the great cupcake debate at the Poly.:rotfl: It may be best that you refrained and saved the children from expensive therapy latter...what a mother won't sacrifice for her children.:rotfl2:

Hi Shawna! I followed you over from my report and I'm glad I did - what a great report!

How cool that you and your husband met during the college program! What did you do there? You mentioned you worked at Epcot. I always regretted not trying to do the college program when I was younger. I can only imagine how it felt for you two to go back there with your kids!

Your kids are adorable! Morgan and my daughter Samantha would get along very well! :)

I'm impressed with your sewing as well - I can hardly sew a button. I just love Morgan's dress! The picture with Minnie is adorable!

Loved the videos too - what great memories!

Hey Sophia,

Did you finish your report when I was gone? It hasnt popped up on the screen when I log in lately. I need to hunt it down. As well as some others. This morning will be the morning to track down those reports I'm missing!!! I know you were not done when I left.

You must get a cupcake when you are there next year! They are delicious!!!

*****

Shawna,

Yep, it's finished but I have a link it my siggy. I get all geared up when we get home and zip through it like mad. Next year, I am going to take it slow!

I have already put the cupcake on my "must find" list for next trip!

Um, rhino butt? I can't wait for the update!!! :lmao:

I need to know the secrets of the cupcakes :scared: .........I dont have long before I am there and cannot afford to waste time on inferior food sources if cupcakes hold the key to life, the universe and everything in-between!

Shawna-

I leave in 5 days-- tell me where the cupcakes are!!!!:worship: Must have baked goods...

OK!! I'm here!!! Sorr it has taken so long, but life is throwing me some fun times.. and by that I mean not so fun at all, but it's putting money in my pocket for wdw fun times next year!! Love your TR so far, especially the part aboutthe feeling you get when you see the WDW sign and you just lose it.. yeah I lost it just reading your Tr, imagine how I felt on my own trip lol!! I'm all subscribed and looking forward to the rest of your TR!!

ps- again, did you just spit your kids out?? they look just like you. Also, tell that hubs of yours hes got some beautiful eyes!

Lots of Disney fans from AZ on here now. We thought about checking out Scottsdale, AZ before we decided to move to TN. Of course TN won in the end because of family being here already. So are anywhere near Scottsdale? It is so beautiful out there. I have to take the kids out there and also do Grand Canyon, San Diego, and a few other things when they get a bit older.

Loved Chef Mickey's and so fun to see Jake with Mickey!! What a fun first meal! Nothing like a preview of a Rhino's butt to build the anticipation for the next installment!

I followed the link to your TR from Kaysmommies TR. What a great report this is!:thumbsup2 I love the way you tell your story!! I love Will Ferrell too! Your kids are sooo cute and your DD looks just like you!:thumbsup2 I was crying when I read about your DS and Mickey at Chef Mickey's, that was so precious!:lovestruc Well I am so glad I found this TR and I am very much looking forward to more!
:welcome: and Thank you! Everyone says Morgan looks just like me but I of course think she is so much more beautiful.. Thanks though! :) I'm glad another Will Ferrell lover is on this thread. I tend to make references a lot! Thanks for joining in!

A rhino's hinney! hmmm.....

I started with a purse or a tote bag. From there i just taught myself with many mistakes along the way. The nursery sounds cute. What theme did you find at Joann's? The dresses I altered from a pattern. I had a lot of help over the phone from Tinkermell! That lady can sew up a storm! :worship:

If you get your own laptop I want mine. We had a crazy busy weekend and whenever I was home Jeff was on the computer doing work. Work I tell ya!!! I wasnt home much to DIS but I could have been on here for a few minutes but he had the computer. Gee like he has to bring home the bacon or something! :lmao:

Morgans ankle is doing great. She has her first competition 2 weeks from Saturday. It will be the first time she performs her solo. I'll be the mom in the back biting my nails nervous the whole time. I dont care how she scores I just want her to have fun but I know those girls put a lot of pressure on themselves. :guilty: Dance fittings took up a good portion of this weekend too. :sad2:

Nope no box of tissues required I promise. Jake's moment was the most emotional. I think..... Yeah I'm pretty sure. Could you see me cocking my head to one side thinking that through. :rotfl2: Ah the cupcake decision still weighs on my mind.

Thanks for coming over. I worked in Merchandise in World Showcase. It was a lot of fun. I bet Morgan and Samantha would get along great as well! Oh, and I hate sewing buttons. :scared:

I just watched the video from Chef Mickey's. How cute Morgan was so cute looking for the characters.:cutie:

She had the cutest expression didnt she. Like it was contained excitement or something. :)

I found your links! Phew but you are fast. I'm slow. I need to kick it up a notch. I intended to have a couple days knocked out this weekend but we all know how that went. Oh well! :lmao:

Great now I'm hungry!

Hey! Glad you found me!

I have a friend from a small town in OK and she has an expression to say how much my kids look like me but I cant type it out on the DIS. Lets just say the first time I heard it I spit my food out I was eating at the time. :rotfl2:

I grew up in Scottsdale. I lived there until about 6 years ago actually and loved it. Its about 45 miutes away, another suburb of Phoenix. Everytime I leave AZ I'm reminded why I love it here and I always am happy to come home. Thats when you know you live in the right place I think.

Loved Chef Mickey's and so fun to see Jake with Mickey!! What a fun first meal! Nothing like a preview of a Rhino's butt to build the anticipation for the next installment!

The Rhino's butt picture was taken by Jeff. I handed him the camera when the rhinos crossed the road and that is the shot he gets me. :lmao:

I am typing up my AK update now! Sorry for the delay. Crazy weekend. Thought I would have all of this time but life gets in the way! :lmao: Anyway, It will be up shortly!

Hey Shawna! I don't know how I missed your Chef Mickey's update...it was such a great read! I could definitely sense the happiness of that Mickey moment! The clothes look great and I love the video snippets! Great job! Can't wait to hear about the AK! :woohoo:

Hey Sara! I'm waiting for photobucket to upload my videos. The Mickey moment was huge. We were even talking about it last night at dinner. He loved Chef Mickeys!

Shawna,

I love your TR so far. Your family is adorable and I am so glad that your ds finally got his first autograph from Mickey. I also live in the phoenix area, moved there almost 5 years ago and love it. My DH and I are going to be staying at POP in 10 days :yay: . I can not wait!!!! I am looking forward to reading the rest of your TR :goodvibes

Confusion and Pandemonium at AK. Will we EVER get into this park?

I woke up first and got ready. Then I started to wake the kids and Jeff up for our first day in the parks. It was 9:30am. I was trying not to let the fact that the park had been opened for a half an hour bother me. When we do DL we do it full force commando. I was not going to do this for 12 days. Plus it was just 6:30am our time. I had to relax. I will be the Angelic mom who calmly lets everything float off of her this trip. No freaking out.

:teacher: Jeff got ready and took his room key from my baggallini down to get some coffee and hot chocolate while I got Morgan ready. . Remember this. :teacher:

Morgan and I took a quick video of the hotel from right outside our door. I panned too quickly in this video over where you can see the Spaceship Earth from EPCOT but when we are looking at the bowling pin stairs that my kids were fascinated with the building across from it had another bowling pin and the ball was just beyond that. I have a picture somewhere. Anyway it has our little window decorated in it too.

Check It Out! I know you are all singing Fergie by now…..:rockband:

As soon as the boys were back we tried to drink the hot chocolate but it was way too hot! :scared1: Like burn the top of your mouth hot for days hot. I'm glad I tasted it first before the kids. Jeff was already done with his coffee and we didn’t want to bring our cups with us so we had to let the hot chocolate go to waste. :sad2: Next day we will get the drinks earlier! We skip down to the busses in front of the resort and grab a map. The perfect park day laid out in front of us. The weather was nice. We were even a little cool in the shade with the breeze. Not too humid as we had feared.

The kids were busy studying the map and anxiously awaiting the bus as it pulled up within 3 minutes. We barely had to wait for a bus unless it was to DTD then it took a long time. The park busses were so fast from POP. I was impressed. There were 2 other families on the bus. The time was 10:45am.

Ok the park had been open for 1 hour 45 minutes. Don’t panic Shawna. Take it easy. Breathe. No worries right.

At AK we scurried off the bus so eager to get inside our first park. I think the bluebirds were singing around us and possibly small deer, a few squirrels and a bunch of cute bunnies came out to greet us. Picture scenes from Snow White, Sleeping Beauty etc.

Oh yeah, I woke up. :lmao: About halfway to the AK sign from where the bus let us off Morgan realized she had forgotten her sunglasses on the bus. OH NO!!! :scared1: Jeff and her ran back to see if they could catch the bus.

Jake and I played around the AK sign while they went in search for the busses. We had just taught Jake what species meant on the bus so here is a video of us goofing off. You’ll see why I mention species. I say it like 10 times!!! Just so you also know I love to embarrass and monkey around with my kids. Luckily Jake is still game with this kind of play. Morgan takes a little coaxing anymore as she gets more embarrassed easier as she gets older. : Just means I have more chances to mess with her in my opinion!

Morgan gets really emotional over things especially when she is tired so I knew leaving $8 sunglasses on the bus was going to be a huge deal to her. We tried to make it as though it was no big deal, which it wasn't, and we would buy another pair as soon as we found a stand selling them. She was devastated. :sad1:

Here is our first picture. I think she is still crying poor girl. I’m a mean mom and forced a photo anyway! Hey, its still a vacation!

P1010153.jpg

After the sign we hit the gift shop just before the entrance to the park because we found sunglasses there. WOOHOO! I have to say the sunglasses she lost I didn’t like. They were getting old and she got a much cuter pair here. They were Hannah Montana but didn’t have a guitar plastered all over them Actually Jeff kept calling us twins all the vacation. She rarely took them off! Good things come out of bad.:cool2:

As we paid for the sunglasses we spotted a pressed penny machine. YEAH! I had also brought our M&M containers full of pennies and quarters today. So the kids did those and we purchased the Sorcerer Mickey pressed penny book. WOW those hold a lot of pennies. Would we even get half? Guess what? The books were on SALE! :woohoo: Bonus right? What is on sale at WDW? They were only $3.99 each!!! I couldn’t believe it. So after trying on glasses and doing the pressed pennies and general souvenir looking we must have spent 20 minutes in that shop. tick tock, tick tock.

As we enter the plaza before the gates we notice characters. What a better way to shake off the bad bus vibe than characters!!! There were 5 of them all lined up before we even got inside the park! SCORE!

Up first was Flik! He’s so cute! Jake was not convinced. An ant on TV is cute but a blue ant in real life is just freaky. I went up with him to get the autograph but he would not take the picture.

P1010154.jpg

P1010155.jpg

Next was Rafiki. Now I think he’s adorable too. Jake, not so much. Ok fine he was going to be picky about his characters. That’s cool. Whatever, its his choice! I was a little worried he wasn’t going to do any of them or they appeared larger today for some reason. Anyway, here is Morgan’s picture with daddy. Jeff took Jake’s book up because he ran as soon as he saw Rafiki. During this picture he was squeezed in between my legs like a 1 year old!

P1010156.jpg

I spotted Brer Bear next. Splash Mountain is Jake’s favorite ride. Hands down winner above all favorite ride. Well, maybe Big Thunder wins when Jake gets completely soaked but anyway I was worried about Brer Bear because he is HUGE. I think he makes Goofy look like a wimp. Probably because he’s rather large around the middle and not skinny like Goofy. Well, guess what? Size Doesn’t seem to matter when it comes to your favorite ride or to characters because look whose all brave now.

P1010157.jpg

P1010158.jpg

P1010159.jpg

I was jumping up and down when he told Brer Bear how much he loved Splash Mountain! Morgan ran over to tell us to make sure we knew he said that too. She thought it was cute.

Morgan was smiling again. All was well with the world!

Scared no more Jake faces Timon

Now that is what I call a character Home Run wouldn’t you?

At this point I’m really itching to get on a ride. We head up to the gates to enter. Its noon. Yep NOON. The park closes in 5 hours! I could not believe it. I wanted to sprint through the gate knock down people and make up for time lost. I could push my way to the front of the EE line and knock over small children trying to get on Kali River Rapids. Reality set in that I would get thrown in Disney Jail and so I settled in to politely entering with everyone else.

See how I have my own little dangerous Disney world in my head? First the Poly Cupcake incident, then the almost dash through the park trying to make up 3 hours. Tsk Tsk. As Ricky Bobby would say "This is borderline Reckless!"

Let me take a second to explain my ticket media for our vacation. We had a package with a 1 day basic ticket on it to get the dining plan. Then I had purchased separate tickets from Undercover Tourist that could not be put on the KTTW card because we already had 1 ticket on there. So today at AK we were going to use up the 1 day basic ticket since I knew we would not be park hopping. I left the main tickets in the safe along with the MNSSHP tickets too. We were good with the KTTW card for today.

I grab the KTTW cards out of my bag. Jake’s, Morgans and mine. Jeff had his from this mornings run to get the drinks. RIGHT? Anybody remember that? Well, apparently He DIDN’T!!! Yep We are 2 people from FINALLY entering the park a little past NOON and Jeff does not have his ticket. :furious:

Deep Breath Shawna

Breathe

Continued below........

You have left me hanging here Shawna, notwithstanding the withholding of vital cupcake info, does Shawna get into AK, is Jeff still alive???????????

I too have your "must get going" mentality. Di said on our first day we can sleep in a relax a bit, I replied "thats fine honey, you just find me at Magic Kingdom whenever you wake your lazy head!"

Anyway back to the cliffhanger!
