I did it!!

I'm going to cut and paste here because I've written the same thing in about 5 different places and I'm getting tired and need a shower!

I just finished my 5K and am sitting here extremely sweaty!

As most of you know, before today, my longest distance was barely 2 miles so running 3.1 was a big stretch for me. The most total running time I'd had during a workout was 9 minutes (if you add up all of my intervals) and I'm pretty sure I doubled that today.

I had decided to go with a 1:1 ratio throughout the 5K (1 minute of running/1 minute of walking). I did include my warm up in my 5K time because I knew I couldn't maintain a 1:1 ratio throughout the entire distance. The first mile was great. Lots of energy and feeling good. The second mile was the hardest. I started feeling tired from probably going too hard in the first mile. The third mile wasn't too bad because I slowed my pace a little and knew I was almost done. I even revved it up for the final couple of minutes. I was excited and surprised that I was able to continue with the run intervals until the very end. I did have to add in a few extra walks, but I'm really happy with how I did.

I kept all of my walks above a 3.5 pace, which is really good for me especially since most of my runs were at about 4.3.

So..........Drum roll, please!

My time was 48:32. I'm pretty happy with that. I set a goal and I followed through. My time can only get faster, right?
