My Magic AP Discount Card...WHAT!?!?!

my question to go along with this thread...is if you are a new AP and have to redeem your voucher on your first trip, how do you park for free? I'm not going to pay $17 so I can pick up my AP. Or can I show my voucher at the lot and explain? I understand I can go to Boardwalk Quest and park free, but I'd rather go from the airport at 6pm and straight to MK to redeem there. I assume at 7-8pm the line at Guest Relations will be non-existant anyway.
You will prob have to pay the money for parking and take it to guest services to get refunded. Even when we renewed our annual passes we were required to pay for parking until we renewed them and they subtracted the cost of parking from our renewal price.

Thanks for the help everyone! Looking forward to the trip!

You don't have to. I bought my voucher and then just showed it to the security officer working at the tolls. He looked at it and let me though without the fee. I picked mine up at TTC.

I got an email from disney yesterday that said to discard the discount card & just show my pass for parking and discounts.

What? This is hilarious. They just mailed these out less than a month ago, and now they're telling people to discard them? Way to spend money, Disney.

As we can see with responses... It all depends who you get at the toll booths.

Technically, you are still required to pay for parking on the first day. Sometimes, like in my experience, they will let you through.

If you do have to pay for parking, hold onto your receipt. I believe that their policy is to reimburse you for parking on that day when you go and redeem your pass. If they don't, I would speak to a manager because you were promised free parking when you paid for your AP.

If you are very worried about it, you can always just have someone drop you off at the Guest Drop Off. You won't get charged to do that and its near the TTC. Then they could circle around and pick you up once you have the AP in hand.

My Discount Card is useless for parking since they sent the wrong one. We have regular APs (FL Resident Rate, but not Seasonal) and received the Black Discount Cards (No Parking) when we should have received Gold Discount Cards (includes Parking).

Ok, I understand now.

However, and this is not trying to be mean, but you should have kept your plastic tickets from your first trip with your magic bands. There is no linkage between the merchandise system, parking or anywhere else AP discounts are used. The only place it is linked is in ticketing for admission/FP+. Since you already had a trip with magic bands under you belt I can only assume that you never used the merchandise discount once on your trip to realize you still needed the card? While I agree it stinks that at this point you need both and that the systems aren't linked, it sounds like user error on your part (for getting rid of the actual cards) and its not surprising the CM's are not able to help you since the systems aren't linked.

I'm far more willing to believe that the OP simply wasn't told, by the people who are supposed to be helping us through this process, that she needed to keep those cards.

Don't listen to it. I think you got someone who doesn't understand. New people getting APs aren't even getting an AP card.

What a frustrating system. With things being rolled out bit by bit, they aren't realizing that there are going to be people in the middle of everything. Or who don't have things explained to them fully enough. etc. And then they come up with something where you need a card, when not everyone will HAVE that card yet. The OP just has to find a CM who can understand the whole timeline and understand that some won't have the cards, so they can find some other way to prove that the OP has APs.

It wasn't a reply from someone, I didn't inquire about it at all. It's just a standard mass email type message. I assumed everyone would have got it. I'll still bring the cards with us just in case.. But how confusing.

Did anyone else get this??

Can you copy/paste the email here? I did not receive one.

OMG! MM is driving me crazy. I'm trying to order my merchandise for the Vera Bradley Luncheon. It's asking me to send a photo of my AP. Uh, my AP is on MM band.

I call Disney. Oh, hold for a moment. Okay, I'm told, that I should've received a SEPARATE discount card. Why? I thought the purpose of MM was to have EVERYTHING on the band. Now, I have to haul a card anyways? My bands were sent with ressies BEFORE AP could receive them. Guessing...this is why I don't have a discount card?

I was transferred to the AP line...no help. CM said, hold on, you need to talk to "them". Who is them? And, I'm STILL holding.

I have two sets of bands, but need another set, PLUS a card? This is NUTS!

Our cards were with the AP bands, under the bands on the side there was a tab to pull up. ((It was very obvious unless they didn't have the tab pulled up with your box?)) When you pulled up the tab it exposed some documentation plus in our case 2 cards, one for each of our bands.

:rotfl: someone needs to send a memo. :thumbsup2

Oh, "they" decided, that I need ANOTHER set of MM bands.

BTW...I keep records of my tickets/pass numbers and All ressies. Nope, don't rely on "them" to keep my info safe. ;)

I don't have AP bands yet, but they're on the way! We received our bands with our resort reservations. Our APs were "linked", but not really.... I think, this may be the glitch, that some are discussing. :confused3

Also, the MDE app stinks. I can access way more information on the actual website.

Disney sent us the correct Discount Cards (Gold w/correct expiration date) by mail which we received a couple of days ago.

This is only for premier pass holders. Disneyland doesn't have magic bands, so you will need the actual pass there. Since you will need the pass anyway, they are just having you use that for discounts etc. doesn't sound like this applies for WDW ap holders. They still need the discount cards. Premier & WDW ap are different tickets.

I was told...no need for the card by the Passholder department, but to bring it anyways. I need to carry more paraphernalia, since MM has been implemented, that ever before.

That's because it's a Premier. You have a card. So you don't need the different card.

Bet you'll need the Premier card at WDW, rather than just use the AP band, to prove you're a Premier holder, if you want to use it for discounts etc....

Agreed.
