My Magic+ and DVC stays

What' s to prevent us from making those reservations using the exchange vouchers as we do now?

The way I understood it was that they weren't sending out vouchers. I was given a confirmation number and told that plus my ID was required at Guest Services in order to get my passes. Thoughts?

Most likely you will not be able to tie that voucher to the MagicBand necessary to use FastPass+.

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

As Bcrook said, it truly is a wait and see.

If I hear anything additional that I feel is reliable I will share. But as of right now, everything shared by the VP over this and Tom Staggs is that it is a ticket that will allow you to book in advance.

Whether that will include vouchers is yet to be determined.

It seems you have to have the bar code from the actual tickets to book in advance.

Basically I think what it is going to do is cut down on the length one can use an Annual Pass and Fastpass+. One will have to decide. However the Press releases have said that guests will be able to book Fastpass+ after they check in and even in the park, so we will just have to wait and see.

Supposedly limiting testing is to begin very soon. For more info I suggest you read the Theme Park Forums.

Nope.. I called and a CM told me its just a glitch. Tne will continue to sell the no expiration option tickets.

Yes, but not online. There has to be under lying reason for this. As to what it really is, anyone's guess.

When I purchased our PAP's was also given a confirmation number and told no vouchers would be issued, just # and ID at guest services at time of pickup

Well, we will be activating our PAP' s in a couple of weeks from our vouchers and we are holding regular annual pass vouchers for use the next year. We had purchased them just prior to the announcement of the DVC special offer and we called and were told we had two years to use the regular AP vouchers. Sounds off topic but now I' m curious to see what I'll be told in two weeks. I'll ask, too, about making reservations with an inactive AP.

I think they are making up the rules as they go along. Thanks for the info.

Sounds like DVC members who buy APs or PAPs are gonna get screwed on this new system. So even if we plan our trips eleven months out it won't mean a thing. What happened to those old rumors the fastpasses were gonna be tied to the room reservation?!? We go at peak times - spring break, NYE, even this July 4th. I'm not happy thinking about this. :headache:

The FastPass+ system is not tied to room reservations. From the Disney Park Experience Terms and Conditions in the MyDisneyExperience app:
CONVERTING TO PAPERLESS TICKETS
  • Once available, you may convert certain paper tickets or passes to a paperless ticket or pass in the Site/App. Once converted, your ticket or pass park admission entitlements are stored in your account and fulfilled by an RF Device. The paper ticket or pass becomes void and is no longer valid for admission. However, you may want to keep your paper pass for validation in the event you do not receive your RF Device before your visit or if you are a passholder you should keep your paper pass for validation of other passholder benefits.
  • You are required to convert paper tickets and passes in order to make and use FastPass+ selections. Once you convert a ticket or pass you will no longer be able to participate in the standard FASTPASS service upon arrival at the parks.

By "RF Device", I believe they mean a MagicBand (wristband). There are many functions that a MagicBand may serve: Room Key, Room Charging, PhotoPass, FastPass+, Character Interaction.

And as far as scheduling FastPass+ times, I don't believe anyone will be able to do so before 60 days from arrival. This includes resort guests and day guests.

Concerning this new program, and what it all entails, we aren't feeling the magic. Especially as to privacy being questioned by a lawmaker.
As huge Disney fans, with a DVC membership, and recently expired Premier passes, we are just stunned by Iger's response. That is not at all what we would have expected from Disney. And I say Disney as opposed to just one executive.
Disney should have expressed concern about a politician wanting more information, and invited him to see for himself what Disney wants to implement into it's theme parks. But no, Disney did not respond in typical Disney fashion. Disney's response to a justifiable question from an elected official is unsettling, and suspect in our opinion.

I'm even more confused and perturbed at this point and we have multiple trips planned for the year.

We're forced into online check in and my better half has a chronic illness that requires a quiet area for our villa. Obviously no place to request that. I emailed guest services with that question...got stock answer which didn't address my question...as usual.

In addition, I added my credit card to My Disney Experience yesterday and a $1.00 charge from CRO at Disney showed up on that same credit card yesterday. I've sent a message to Disney asking what it's for and even if it's legitimate, why wasn't I notified of the charge?

I am fast becoming a disgruntled customer and it saddens me. I also find myself resentful of MDE and feel Disney is just pushing too hard for me to conform to what THEY want me to do on vacation.

Sorry...I've gotten OT, I'm afraid. Needed to vent.

They are doing away with No Exp. tickets.

From what I read they are not doing away with them they are just not available online--- you can add non-expiring in person or via phone for now.

That $1 is a pre-auth to verify the CC. It will not be processed and will not hit your CC.

I don't understand what you mean by being 'forced into online check-in?' It's not mandatory.

If you want to make a location request, just call MS, they'll be happy to add it to your reservation. You can also speak with the CM checking you in at the resort and ask them to find you a better location, if the one you're assigned isn't appropriate for your husband's needs.

That's a pre-authorization a common practice used world wide to confirm the CC is valid, etc. The actual charge won't stick.

Surely they will work it out for AP vouchers and will call numbers to be able to pre-book the fastpasses. If not, the angry villagers will be attacking the castle with emails. And really, since many DVCers have AP and AP vouchers, it is unlikely that DVC marketing would want to be seen as a whole lot "less than" compared to the standard occasional resort stay. Most new owners and potential buyers already cringe at the limited housekeeping from a sales standpoint, until they experience it.

We're using DVC for the first time this coming June (renting through Dave's) but were planning on buying our tickets through Undercover Tourist. I'm nervous how this will play out once we arrive as I expect the Magic+ program will be well underway...

If the savings were minimal, I'd go ahead and purchase through Disney for the convenience factor alone but it'll save us about $175 going through UT...

I am wondering the same thing about tickets purchased through AAA.

this coming June
With a June trip, I might be inclined to just wait and see what unfolds. If the current understanding is correct, you can't reserve any FP+ experiences until 60 days prior to your trip, so you have a little while yet before you have to decide on tickets.
