My LSS is having a scrapbooking/stamping/crafting yard sale that you pay to have a table at, but keep 100% of your profits.

Has anyone done this type of thing before? I've had yard sales at home with some of my crafting things I no longer use, sometimes it goes well and sometimes not.

I live in a really small town, and I know the LSS is struggling for business, so I don't know how many potential customers there may be.

Thanks for any info!

I know several stampers who have done this. It really depends on the cost of the table, and the location. I.e. is it an outdoor (weather dependant) event, or is it inside. Also, have they done this type of fundciton before? If a store does this on an annual basis, many people will know about it.

Also - another thing to consider is - again depending on the cost of the table - is sharing a table if you have any stmaping or scrapping friends.

And finally - know up front what is included. Are you getting "space" for a table and do you need to bring your own? Or does the fee include a table

Have fun...and don't spend more than you make!;)

I have participated in this kinda of thing many times, unfortunetly where I moved to the lss does not do this. The store where they had their "scrap yard sale" was a little different. It was soley for your store bought items that you no longer have use for.You could not sell handmade items. I loved it. I had made from $80-$200 selling things I no longer would use. One suggestion is to sell it cheap. Dont try to make a lot on an item or it will not sell. At my store you dropped your items off, had them marked, and they sold them for you over the weekend. In return you kept 100% of the money, but it was in the form of a gift card where you spent it in the store.

I have also done that, paying to participate, dropping off my stuff and returning for my $ and left-over items.

I have made over $100 twice, and $65 the first time.

I have really pared down, so for now, I will not participate.

Good luck!

Thanks so much for the feedback. I'm going to find out all the details, because I definately have stuff I no longer "need", and I'm trying to only keep what I know I'll use.

That being said, I probably won't participate if I'll be paid in gift cards to the store. Goodness knows I don't need more stuff!

Thanks again!

Twingle -- where in VA are you/the store you are talking about? I'm in VA too. I know a LSS store that sells your stuff, but gives you store credit to use, not cash.

Hey Soccerchick! I'm in Culpeper - near Fredericksburg. Still trying to get ahold of my LSS, so I'm eager to see what that leads to.
