My Little Princess is Turning 8 trip report. Completed

Nichole,
I will keep Thomas in my prayers. Where in SI is your husbands family from? I have never met anyone on this board from SI. SO where do you like living better TN or NJ?

Nichole, so sorry I have been MIA. I'm so sorry to here about your little guy  please know that I am keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers

Oh Nichole. So sorry for the news not being what you expected and hoped. Just know that you have so many people praying for Thomas (and you!). A scarey time for a Mommy. We'll help you get your mind off things. Keep us updated.

Thanks so much Monica :goodvibes . Yes I guess it's obvious how scared I am.

Nichole,

Thanks.
I only know what streets they are on since I don't know alot about SI. His one cousin lives on Richmond and the only cousin and his family live on Benedict, in what I would call a mansion. They are very hard working people. I guess I would have to say I like a bit better NJ since I lived there 32 years of my 35 years. I love the beach, boardwalk, and how honest and blunt the people are in NJ. I have a long list of why I like it better but that opinion got me in trouble once ;) . My brother lived here in TN with his family and we came to visit and liked it here so my DH tranfered jobs and we moved. I do love the weather here, and the mountains are beautiful here too even though I'm more of a beach person. The friends I've made her are great too and we have a nicer house here than we did in NJ. I miss the really good pizza and right now I'm missing our Dr's up north. I guess there are good points and bad to any place. Maybe after we come up for a week I'll realize I'm happy here in TN but who knows :confused3 .

Hi Kimmy,
Thanks for your thought and prayers  .

Just catching up on your TR. We're doing a bday trip for my son's 8th birthday in Sept. I hope he gets all the magic Kaylee did.:cool1:

Sorry about Thomas.

Nichole, I don't get to post very often but I wanted to let you know that we will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers.

Last Evening at Epcot!! Finally we see IROE!!

I don't have any photos from this night :confused3 but we did take a little video. But on our departure day I took a ton so that will make up for it.

I had to share this picture with you. It was the day Thomas came home from the hospital. Kaylee looks so thrilled to have a little brother, her eyes are sparkling! She was and only child for 4 years. Notice how tan Thomas looks, he was very jaundice. Now he is so white he looks like milk and I have to put 50 sunscreen on him, LOL.

After we drove back to Pop , I could not wait to get the chlorine out of my hair :scared1: it was gross. We all took showers and we trying to figure out plans for the night. DH and I were MKed out since the night before was so packed and crazy. We decided on Epcot and it was already almost 7 PM so we needed to get a move on. We drove our car to Epcot and Thomas fell asleep on the ride. Here are a few pics in front of Pop I took before Tom brought the car around. My kids loved it here.

Tom wanted to let Thomas sleep for a half hour so Kaylee and I headed to Epcot and World Showcase. We walked quickly to China because I have never seen the Acrobats and really wanted to. I knew they always had a 7:50 show every single trip we went on so we had plenty of time to get there. When we got there I looked at the times guide and thier last show was at 6:30 :sad2: . I was dissapointed. So we walked over to France to see if maybe Marie was out but we didn't see her. Kaylee found a stand that sold painted umbrella's in France and really wanted one. I was mean and told her she had to buy it with her Bday money she got from Grandma. So she took a ton of time picking out a design and color. She choose a blue one with flowers and her name on it. We had to pick it up in a half hour.

I called Tom on my cell and they were on the way in so we went to meet up with them near Canada. Then we went over to UK to see the maze, the kids had fun running around in it. We thought about grabbing seats and watching British Invasion because I've never watched them. Decided to skip because I'm not into the Beatles at all, probably not a popular opinion but they are kind of corny :rolleyes1 IMO. So I asked the kids if they wanted to go into the shop there and see Pooh and Tigger but they were being grouchy and said no.

Everyone was hungry since it nearly 8 PM. We walked over to Morocco and DH said it smelled nasty so he refused to get CS there :headache: . Thomas of course said he wasn't eating anything. We found a nice bench in front of Morroco and DH went to America to get CS food for all of us with Kaylee. Thomas and I waited. I guess you can't go wrong with food from America.

This was a rather boring last night but it was relaxing at least. None of us wanted to go home tomorrow :sad2: . We were staying for Illuminations since we have never seen it in all our trips. We always end up leaving right before it starts. Seemed like a good place to sit and watch too. I went to pick up Kaylee's umbrella from France and then went inot Boulangerie Patisserie to check out the pastries. They looked yummy so I got one for DH and I since the kids had Chocolate chip cookies from America. I wanted to eat everything in there :rolleyes1 . DH got a Chocolate croissant whcih he said was alright and I got and Eclair and a cappucino which was yummy.

I made it back with a minute to spare but DH moved from our bench because the CM let him in the viewing area in front of Morroco which was nice but we had to stand now. I was ready to sit since it had been a long day and eat my pastry. It was also quite chilly this night. But oh well I didn't complain to them at least. We didn't take any pics of Illuminations but Tom and I loved it!! Don't know what it is about this show but it is great IMO. I like the music but fireworks is extra loud and Thomas was not thrilled. SO we tried to cover his ear a bit. Overall opinions of night time shows are Spectro and Wishes are still #1 for us. The kids like Fantasmic better than Illuminations. Tom and I don't like Fantasmic much but loved IROE second to Wishes. I also love Spectromagic but Tom is over it I guess.

We had a great night even though we got there so late. After we went back to Pop and the kids went to sleep. Tom and I finished packing.

Next Up : Let the crying begin!! Final morning at Pop.

I know how you feel about eating American food in the world showcase! Last year we walked all over the world showcase to decide where we wanted to eat (DH and I love all the different food) and we wound up picking mexico. Of course DH had to run over to American to get ff and hot dogs for the kids!:confused3 Of course it was a nice change from all the buttered pasta they ate at all their other meals!:rotfl:

Of all my kids, only dd enjoys food like Dh and I! She loves to eat it all, and her favorite lunch is hummus and crackers! This year her dinner request for her birthday dinner was shrimp scampi! The two older boys always pick mcdonalds or pizza!

Oh, and I took your advice and booked the room only at the POP for the night before our disney package starts. I can't get over how reasonable the POP is! Of course, I won't be sad to move over to the Poly the next day, but I'm excited to see POP too. Thanks for the advice!

Great update Nichole! That picture of Kaylee with Thomas is so precious, she looks sooo excited to be a big sister! Last year the boys loved playing in front of POP like that too! I don't think your mean for making Kaylee use her b-day $ for the umbrella, we did the same thing, we had a set limit that we were willing to spend on them and anything above and beyond they had to buy with their own money! Funny,we LOVE Illuminations too but the boys think it's boring!:confused3 :goodvibes

Too funny about your DD being the adventurous eater. Mine is like that too! Thomas on the other hand is a picky eater. Mostly he eats pizza, pasta and once in a while McDonalds. I try not to feed them that much though :scared: . Pop will be fine for 1 night but you will glad to move to Poly the next day. My kids loved it there, but Tom and I like a little peace & Quiet on vacation after a long day at the parks. You won't find it here. There pools and store is great though.

Thanks, I love that picture. If I didn't make her spend her own money once in a while I'd be broke. Funny how she gets so cheap if she has to buy i though, ever notice that :lmao: . I was happy to finally see Illuminations, my kids were looking pretty bored too.

Nice update Nichole! I have to agree with you about Wishes and Spectro! I just love them! I haven't seen Illuminations in a few years, but I remember it being fantastic as well, I just feel like it is missing some "magic" for me as compared to the MK nightime events! And of course, the "message" is a little lost on the kids usually!

The eclair and cappucino sounds lovely! Sorry you missed the acrobats! Next time, right? :goodvibes

Looking forward to hearing about your last morning!

Sara

Another great chapter :) The parisol idea sounds great... I'll have to keep it in mind

Hi Sara,
I don't think Illuminations is on the kids list for next time, but I'm glad we finally got to see it. Acrobats is on the next time list.

Another great chapter :) The parisol idea sounds great... I'll have to keep it in mind
Thanks :goodvibes

I just found your trip report. I'm only on page 2, but had to post and tell you that I am loving it. Your kids sound like mine, a bit. I totally know what you meant about the after Disney depression! Got to get back to reading......

Just found your report and caught up to now. Your kids are just adorable and it looks like Kaylee certainly had an amazing birthday trip! Can't wait to read the finale (even though its your last day :sad1: )

Erin:cool2:

Hey Nicole! Glad you finally got to see Illuminations. We love it too, but missed it last time. It sounds like you had a good time considering the time of year. You've barely mentioned the crowds. I don't blame Tom, I don't think I'd like eating at Morocco either! I can't believe it's already your last day. I think you've written two trip reports in the time I've written my one!! Glad the kids liked it at Pop. I can't wait to stay there in December. Looking forward to your next installment.

I'm up to page 9 now, but just had to stop and post about that "severe bun" you mentioned at BBB. I am still laughing!!!!

DD9 had the makeover at BBB on her birthday, too. By the end of the day, the poor thing had such a headache. She even fell asleep at Chef Mickey's and didn't want her birthday cupcake. (We give it to the kid at the table next to us.) I SWEAR it was all from the tight bun. (We had a couple of cranky moments right after the BBB, too, almost at the same exact locations as you.) How funny!!!!!

Ok, back to your TR. I'm really interested. We have stayed at the POP many times. Have stayed at POFQ and CBR, and will be staying at POLY this July. We were supposed to stay at CSR once, but ended up switching it. Can't even remember why or to which other resort????

OK, one more post....I am all caught up.

I'm sorry about your little guy. Hugs and prayers to you. He will be ok. You have a lot of people here thinking positive thoughts......Keep us posted.:grouphug:

Don't worry about your unmagical moment. We all have them!!!! Disney is the greatest place, but I will admit, DH and I have had some of our biggest fights there. I think it just wears you out emotionally as well as physically. But it is so worth it...it's such a magical place and those "unmagical" moments are few and far between. The magical moments defintiely outweigh the not so great ones.

Drawing with the artist sounds great. DD9 would probably love that on our trip this summer.

Now I'm going to check out your POLY report.:)
