What I find entertaining is catching grammatical errors in posts where people are making fun of other people's errors (see page 1 of this thread).

Since someone brought it up.... I hate it when you see things on menus like "Nacho's"... "shrimps" also bothers me. The country is BelgiuM, but they are Belgian waffles..... The stupidest things bother me!

I'm really glad they changed the name of the restaurant to Cinderella's Royal Table.
I had issues with the place when it was named after Princess Aurora's dad.

There was a very good reason for that. It was quite common to name a major room in one's castle for a friend or ally. Therefore, naming the Banquet Hall for the father of a friend of Cinderella was a very fitting and proper thing to do.

I think it's just one of those quirks of the language. I really wish I'd taken etymology in college to understand how we decided on these things.

But if I'm missing your point, please let me know. I'm kind of curious.

actually who cares!! I believe that people are so fast typing their answers or beginning a new thread that they don't realize sometimes they are typing wrong- lord knows I have done it many of times, and I have 2 college degrees. Honestly I am too busy enjoying everyone's posts to notice anyways.

you don't type "wrong", you type incorrectly. You've done it many (no "of") times and its anyway not anyways. Also, "Hubby's and my", but how do 2 people take a solo trip?

and what kind of word is prolly? I assume the poster means probably. We all (myself included) need to check our posts for errors. How do we expect to raise a literate generation if we are not literate ourselves?

Well, I'm not the one that posted that but, I think that the poster meant that the waffles should be called Belgian waffles, but on some menus they are listed as Belgium waffles which is incorrect. At least that is what I agreed with.

So following your example if everyone did that with other terms it would be Mexico food, England peas, and Canada maple syrup. That is all that was meant...I think

Ach-so! Now I understand. I thought he was troubled by others calling them Belgian waffles. I've never seen Belgium waffles before. Greeeeat, not only will this cause me to scrutinizine menus left and right looking for the random Belgium, but now I'm craving a waffle.

Actually, it is in fact Citricos (no apostrophe). And Narcoossee's (but that's a tough one and not an apostrophe issue so no points deducted). Thank goodness I can use AP for Artist Point and no one is the wiser as to whether I am inappropriately adding s or 's where it doesn't belong

Ooh, you caught me. I am usually not terrible at the names. I do make a
point about Boma and Jiko being without the "s". I deserve the wrist slap for
that. I realize now I left Roaring Fork out of the "s" curve.

And I also thought the reasoning behind King Stephan's Banquet Hall was very
interesting. Thanks, Cheshire Figment!

I hate hearing two twins-twins indicate two people. Also, a two way tie. A tie is always between two groups. You add a number when it's 3 or more. ( Last example is from my favorite movie "Drumline", during the finale of a "drum-off"!!)

While we're at it, ACCOMMODATE - double c, double m. It's one of the most frequently misspelled words in the English language. One of my missions in life is to make sure it's always spelled correctly. I had a journalism professor in college who had a pet peeve about people spelling accommodate with only one c or one m. A couple of years after I graduated, he died at his desk while working at our local newspaper. I really liked him so I've decided to carry on his mission! So come on people, let's make sure everyone is accommodated! Let's all book our accommodations! Let's accommodate everyone and everything!!!!!

Roaring Fork (no s). By far the most misspelled restaurant in WDW.

Gee whiz. I am new here, so have a bit of difficulty determining a joke from seriousness. I do however hope that the majority of the 'complaints' about the grammar of others is meant in jest because it's a bit mean making fun of the way people speak. We all have different backgrounds, levels of education, etc. but that doesn't make us any better/worse than others. Yes, how one speaks does leave an impression, but I would hope that the majority of people would overlook one's speaking to focus instead on what type of person one is. I personally would think more highly of a good person who speaks less than perfectly than someone who speaks in accordance with each and every grammatical rule and is poor in character.

Eh, sorry if you all are just joking. But if you're not, from one who does say "Boma's" and "O'Hana's" and {gasp} "Cinderella's Castle" I apologize profusely for my errors

What do you call someone from Tampa, surely not a "Tampan"
