Done? No you're not!

Jiko is not a person's name either (Jiko's)

'Ohana is not an Irish name (O'Hanas)

The restaurant at the Yacht Club is the Galley, not Gallery

The restaurant at the Living Seas is called the Coral Reef, not Coral Seas

Any others?

I actually must have forgotten that an object doesn't have possession with an apostrophe s. It's been 20 years since high school, so that piece fell into the "never accessed" portion of my brain.

Thanks for pointing it out. Now that you have, it will drive me crazy when I see it. I have the same issue when people write "alot" instead of using a space in between.

Just one to add:

The Irish pub is Raglan Road, not Ragland Road.

And the restaurant in the Grand Floridian is "Victoria and Albert's"

An it is "Cinderella Castle"

Note that V&A is possessive while the Castle is not.

I get frustrated when people don't know how the use "they're, there, their, there's and theirs". Also "to" and "too" are often mixed up.

Anyway...

And speaking of Cinderella Castle...

I'm really glad they changed the name of the restaurant to Cinderella's Royal Table.
I had issues with the place when it was named after Princess Aurora's dad. ;)

I can understand why people tend to add the possessive to the end of the
restaurant names. Citrico's and Narcoosee's (not just V&A's!) have it there.
Maybe it's a Grand Floridian thing.

Here's one someone hadn't mentioned yet:

Artists Point

I "could care less." No, actually you mean "you couldn't care less." If you could care less it implies that you do care somewhat..

"This is just so flustrating." No, it is frustrating. I think people have put the word flustered and frustrated together to make this one. (My Mom says this one, but you don't correct your mother.)

The traffic was backed up because someone wrecked their car in the medium. No, they wrecked in the median.(My Mom calls this one "media".)

Well we had went to the store. No, you had gone to the store.(Hey, I'm from Alabama I could go on and on.)

It is very unique. No it is unique. Unique means one of a kind, it cannot be very one of a kind. It either is or isn't, there are not varying degrees of uniqueness.

All for now..Bob

actually who cares!! I believe that people are so fast typing their answers or beginning a new thread that they don't realize sometimes they are typing wrong- lord knows I have done it many of times, and I have 2 college degrees. Honestly I am too busy enjoying everyone's posts to notice anyways.

i was talking more about speaking than typing..

right you are. Like you said you talk different because you live in Alabama. My dialect, being from the north probably sounds strange to you as well. I don't think people intentionally type or speak wrong, it is just something that happens.

But what if you're writing "Boma's servers are wonderful" or "'Ohana's atmosphere is chaotic"....

Either way, be nice people. ;) I just about curl up and die when I read a double negative or a misused nothing. But who doesn't have some variety of grammar monkey on his/her back? A comma is my little demon. "Wait, is that restrictive or nonrestrictive, a coordinating or a subordinating conjunction? I don't know, AGHHHHHH!!!" Suddenly, I'm splicing and fusing everything in sight!

Though I do know the difference, I also type so quickly I sometimes type phonetically what I hear in my head - to becomes too, their becomes there, etc. We shouldn't confuse error with ignorance.

Which explains why there is an editorial notation at the bottom of most of my posts ;)

Actually, it is in fact Citricos (no apostrophe). And Narcoossee's (but that's a tough one and not an apostrophe issue so no points deducted). Thank goodness I can use AP for Artist Point and no one is the wiser as to whether I am inappropriately adding s or 's where it doesn't belong ;)
