Well, don't know if this is the proper place to post this, but I thought that many us us take our pets with us camping, so I figure you all are in tune with your animals too. Here's the story:

I have a 3lb female chihuahua. I've had her a year, she's 15 months old. I'm her original owner. She went from the breeder to our home. She's a great dog, well behaved, very interactive. Tells us what she needs, when she needs it, and so easy to take care of. She is extremely attached to me. She follows me from room to room, walks into the bathroom when I go in, goes everywhere with me when I leave the house. Does all the yard work right along side me. She'll whine/wimper a little if she cannot be right with me. Often, I put her inside my fleece, so my hands are free and we go off and do things. But...she shows me absolutely no affection. No kisses, no licking, no hugs or snuggles. When my DH sits down, she's all over his face, licking him, hugging his head, her leg twitching with excitement. She cannot love him enough. He has to try to get her to stop loving him so much.

I don't get it. How can she be so attached to me, without ever showing me any affection at all. Any dog lovers out there that know why this is, and what may be done? Thanks.

Just the opposite in our case. Buddy, is my best furry friend, see sig, but has imprinted and just adores my wife. So being second is fine in this case.

Bailey is the same way with Frank and I, I wonder if it's a male female thing ?

Welcome to my world!!!

Ok, not quite, but close.

Generally I am the one that does all the feeding, training, and until just recently was home with the dogs all day every day.

They are perfectly lovely with me, but when DH comes home

PARTY TIME!!!!

OMG OMG Daddy's home! We missed him SOOOOOOO much!

mom, where's dinner

DADDY!!!!!!!! :dance3:

Beats the bijinkies out of me! :confused3
The girls in particular are all about DH. If he had 2 pockets and could carry one in each all day long, I'm convinced they'd be in heaven. (mind you they're 35 lbs a piece!)

Well, I did say "not quite"

Gotta say Brady has definitely become a momma's boy as he's gotten older. In fact he's currently at work with me keeping my feet warm...

But then he's the leader of the "Daddy is Home!!" party, so go figure???

With all the dogs I've seen in rescue over the years there's never been any rhyme or reason I can figure out as to why any particular dog bonds more closely or differently with one person vs another.

I decided long ago not to sweat it. I know my dogs love and appreciate me, each in their own way. :goodvibes

Based on an average life span of 11 years, the cost of owning a dog is $13,350.

That's probably low in our case.
Buddy had major, major, surgery a few years ago. He was given a 50/50 chance of making it. As some of you have witnessed, he made it and is a fiesty little guy that makes us smile every day. Of course because he's missing a vital organ, it's special food, medication, and blood work, for the rest of his life. Our Vet thanks us by sending us to the Bahamas every year, just kidding.

Disney is funny, he loves to play with Mom. When I'm around he wants to be on me or under my legs or on my feet. He will play with me as well, just prefers to play with mom.

When we are training for agility, he usually only pays attention to me (I'm the one with the treats and that's what he is trained to do, so I guess that doesn't really play into it does it ). In the morning when she's up and I'm not, if she isn't playing with him, he comes up with me. At night he stays down with me until I go to bed.

Chihuahua are funny lil dogs, she looks up to you as her caretaker and he meet all of her needs. My lil doxie does the samething to my husband and kids. I would not take it to heart. I think she does love you that is why she wants to be with you all of the time.:goodvibes
