A few days ago I was asking about the Littermaid litterbox and received so many replies. You guys/gals are awesome. In the course of further research and Googling, I came across a very simple solutution...a tall cheap tub. My problem was our 7 lb. dog frequenting the cat's litterbox "cafe". We had a baby gate up to the laundry room but was getting very tired of looking at it. Last night I installed the tub and Sophie (cat) used it right away and Lucy (dog) is too little to jump in the tub. The baby gate is now gone! Now if I can just get Lucy (dog) to walk ALL the way into her potty box to pee. She has been very lazy and putting her front paws in the potty box but pees on the floor. Lucy...just take one more step, PLEASE. Kids!

My mom has a cat that apparently doesn't like the feel of litter under her feet, because she tries to use the box while balancing on the outer edge of it. I've seen her fall off of it in the middle of going... well, you know... and make a mess. She does this often. It's too funny.

I did not know that dogs would use a box!

Glad you found a soulution to the problem!

Yes they can and its great when its cold outside. We use wood pellets in her box because dogs don't bury their poo and pee like cats do. the pellets simply turn to sawdust and its cheap.

That's really interesting....thanks for telling me more about it!!

Enjoy you trip to CBR!! My family loves that resort.....lots of great memories!!

Cats are interesting creatures. :goodvibes

We've had a kitty "houseguest" for about a month and the litterbox is my biggest annoyance lately. I don't think she likes to step in the litter so she clears out an area to step on, throwing litter & poo all over the place. If she's here much longer I may try to potty train her, I've heard it's possible. :rotfl:

Mine are very picky about the type of litter I use. I tried Feline Pine and it did not go over well at all! We had outside of the box "deposits" in protest. So, back to Tidy Cats Small Spaces. I'd love to try the Crystal one that was posted on the other thread, but I'm afraid.

I have not changed little since day 1 because I am so afraid of ruining a good thing. I would love to try something new, but I won't risk it. They go in the box, it doesn't smell that bad, I can live with it. I have one cat that insists on peeing in the front corner of the box, which makes it hard to scoop, but other than that, no litter issues at my house. BTW - our dog used to eat the cat box "treats" too - gross!

My cat does the same thing sometimes. She doesn't seem to like the mat I put in front of the box because she never uses it. If I put it in front of the box, she'll use the side. If I put it on the side, she'll use the front. They sure are finicky.

I have a mat, maybe I will move it and see if it improves. Thanks for the idea.

I never saw a litter box like that ...mine just had the front open(with a lid).

I also never had a cat and dog at the same time....dogs eat the "deposits"????:scared1:
