My life may turn upside down tomorrow! Okay with that!

Today my hubby called up there to let them know he would be out of town starting on Friday and wanted to be sure they could contact him if need be. Well, they said they will be doing another interview next week. He asked if he was competing against locals. They told him yes, 2 others. Lots of politics locally. We just keep waiting. Not sure if it is good or bad. My job prospects are extremely good. I may end up with the job first if this doesn't work out. Either way, we are seriously considering the move. And we're waiting, and waiting!!:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

And we're waiting, and waiting and waiting!! Decided to let it run its course. Hubby is doing fine so far. Tomorrow we are having the adult children out for dinner and update them on the latest. I put in my application officially, so we are off and running. Waiting to hear about my position interview. Put in my extended leave of absence for up to 5 years. Feels strange. Did tell 2 references and 1 good friend. Too much work to do in my present job to think much about the move and all. Maybe next week we will have a clearer picture. Thanks for following my adventure.

I'm glad you up dated us. I was thinking about this earlier today and wondered if I'd missed the big announcement! We're all still pulling for you!:cool1:

decaff38, good luck to you! And smidgy, you have me singing "I will follow him" now, can't get it out of my head.

decaff, can you tell me where in Alaska the opportunity is? I'm in the Mat su valley, between Palmer and Wasilla, which is about an hour's drive from Anchorage. This is a great time of year to come up, the days are getting longer and longer, we have so much daylight and the sun is warming up and everything is melting! Yippee!! I can't wait until summer....good luck to your husband! FYI, I'm a born and raised Alaskan. There aren't many of us left it seems!!

Yupikgal - It is on the North Slope. My youngest was born in Barrow, AKin 1989. We lived off of Trunk Hwy from 1990-92. I taught at Sherrod in Palmer those years.

Well, the long awaited update!!
I interviewed for a Middle School Special Ed. position by Skype at 5:00 today and my hubby is on the phone right now (8:00) doing his last interview. We should really know by the end of the week.

We told the kids last Thursday. THey came out for dinner and stayed until midnight. We laughed and had such a good time . We talked about everything. THey are going to move into our 4 bedroom house and take care of our two cats. it will be nice to know this is being taken care of. THere will be some big fights between the girls (20 &22) but they will work it all out. We even talked about them coming to Alaska when they finish their schooling. We'll see.
Thanks for watching our saga!!!

It sounds promising for the two of you!

I am glad your kids are on board with the plan - that will just make it so much nicer for your family. Thanks for the update. Now, I will keep watch to see what develops further!:thumbsup2

All the Best to You Both

Oooooh! So exciting for you two! DD has done 2 teaching interviews by Skype in the past 8 weeks. Fingers crossed for you two! WISHing you success!

Best of luck and hoorah that your children are supporting your move and willing to move in to the house!

Hubby still waiting. They emailed me and asked me for a list of my reverences that are on my electronic application. They are not able to read their own formatting. At least I got a contact. Better than no news. They stated they will be calling those references on Tues, after the Easter break. More waiting. I think I am too old for all this waiting!!! We are going to do a bunch of stuff around the house to keep our minds off the prospects.

Best of luck to both of you. So will it be warmer up there than MN or not? My son was stationed in Anchorage while in the Air Force and I think it was a little bit of both, depending. Anyway, best wishes and hope it all works out for you. Sounds like a grand adventure! :thumbsup2

Keep us posted.....I think all of us reading this post are as excited about this as you are!

To MomB
yes it will be colder on the NorthSlope than Mn. Anchorage is more like Mpls. weather. It often is very temperate in ANchorage. Fairbanks(the interior) is the coldest. It gets brutally cold there in the winter and HOT in the summer. Runs from -50 to +90. The Slope is on the Arctic Ocean so it never gets really warm. About 70 is the tops and only for a few days. It gets -50 but not as much as Fairbanks. The problem in the winter is the cold and the wind. That really makes it brutal. We lived there 20 years ago and I was born and raise on the Canadian border of MN, so the weather is pretty similar.
No news for hubby so far today but their offices have only been open for an hour. I keep searching and planning. Every thought brings another. Wow, thousands of details.
