We took the cats to the vet last night for their annual exam and my sweet lovable Oliver turned Cujo! He was growling and making noises I've never heard before. They were unable to do the exam even with a vet tech wrapping him in a towel. Poor guy even bit me (Oliver not vet tech). So I had to drop him off at the vet this morning to be sedated for his exam. We're also getting him a lion cut since he has some mats. I'm going to try hard not to laugh at him.

Abigail is the more skittish cat and she handled the exam really well. She has to go on a diet though. She weighs 13.5#

Here is a picture of Abigail and Oliver. Oliver is in the back.

Tink (in my sig) went ballistic the last time she had to have her allergy shot. Before the vet even came into the room a vet tech looked in the door and started talking to her- Tink just growled at her. I had never see her like that. Growling, hissing, trying to bite anyone that tried to touch her . The vet had to put a towel over her head to be able to give her the shot. She is going back Thurs and DH is taking her this time. :rolleyes1

As silly as this sounds, that really makes me miss my old job. :sad1: Before becoming a medical transcriptionist I was a vet tech at an all cat clinic. I would still be there but after I had DD it was just too hard to find child care for the weekends as DH worked weekends too.
I really loved the grouchy kitties, since I know they were just really scared. I enjoyed the challenge of trying to soothe them and calm them down. Usually you could just cover thier eyes with your hand or a towel and they would calm down but some you just had to sedate.
I always thought they looked kind of cute with their 'lion cuts" too :thumbsup2

I love the lion cut! We had a tortuous shell long hair and she got this cut once per year! (she hated being brushed) They even put a bow her tail. I think she looked great! She, on the other hand, always acted embarrassed :rotfl:

when we take our cat Lestat to get his shots each year, we have to take him in a pillowcase(vet's suggestion) and in a soft carrier and they can just give him his shots through there...he goes BALLISTIC at the vet...he's had to be sedated before as well....:confused3 He was fine at the vet's when we was a little kitten and then just one time he decided he didn't like and it's been a disaster every time since...

Aww...poor kitty. I think I would act up if someone brought me to the vet too~how terrifying.
Hope all goes well!
