Whenever we go on vacation where we are walking a lot DS always gets chafed between his legs. I can't figure it out, he's really thin, I'm overweight and it never happens to me. I think he's so thin that his jeans are sagging and the seam is rubbing him too low.

Has this happened to anyone else and what can I do to prevent it. Would some smoother type of pant, like basketball pants, be better? I saw something about Body Glide lubricant, does anyone use this and where can it be bought?

Last time at WDW I had to buy him a pair of athletic pants at EPCOT that he then had to wear the rest of the week:scared1:

Is he old enough for boxer briefs? they come down a little lower and may help protect his skin. Butt paste should help cure the rash, but obviously better to prevent it in the first place - never heard of body glide.

Oddly enough my bro-in-law were just discussing this a few days ago..on our last family trip to DLR he had an issue with chafing and was in a lot of pain..What he ended up doing was driving down Harbour to Dick's Sporting Goods and getting a pair of biker shorts (that Cyclists use), they are spandex and he wore them under his regular shorts. he said that cured the problem right away!!! Hope that helps!!)

My husband has this problem and he uses Body Glide and works very well. I've used it too when I feel a sore spot on my feet to prevent blisters. He buys it in sporting goods stores like Academy and Sports Authority.

I am a "pooh sized" woman and would not have survived at WDW in Sept without Body Glide!

If you find it online, using your favorite search engine, they have a place to search for the nearest retailer that carries it. Most around me seemed to be bike shops. You can also order it online. Its a bit pricy, but worth every penny. It goes *wherever* you have a rub point [let me tell you it was great at the neck/shouler for my baggalini!] just like a stick deodarant would. Then it stays in place all day, even if you sweat. No clumping like baby powder or Goldbond.

I will never do another trip there without it.:goodvibes
Good Luck!

Are most of his jeans the same brand? My daughter had that issue with one or two brands of jeans that the seams were real rough. I think it was the thread actually. If you think the jean seams are the problem maybe this could work. To still be able to use those pairs of jeans, I cut a piece of fleece material and used washable fabric glue to adhere it to the rough seem. It worked great.

I just use antipersperant (sp?) deoderant and use it on my leg, where the chafing occurs. Both my husband and I do this whenever we know we are going to do a lot of walking and it works really well.

Wow

At last a solution - DH suffers badly in hot weather from chafing and DD has trouble with blisters on her feet - I've found this online and gonna pre-order for our California vacation this coming summer.

Thanks for everyone's advice. I found Body Glide on Amazon and with a free trial membership could have it here by Wed (we're leaving sat). It was only 8$ for 1.3 oz, I hope that's enough. He's thin so it's not much area to cover.:)

We had the "body glide party" each moring...hit everyone's feet, and any places there were going to be straps, the back of the neck for lanyards, etc. [I bought more than one stick, cause I'm a bit freaky about what parts of bods could use the same stick...] It worked really well everywhere. If you know DD has a specific spot for blisters, I'd do a preemptive mole skin application....

We were at DL in may and my youngest dd had REALLY bad chaffing:sad2:..on the trip she was 13, and her legs were absolutely raw...i think it was from getting wet on the rides and then walking around...the weird thing is she was wearing those really thin short shorts...her leg was so bad i had to buy the big gauze and tape it on...it was pretty open so we wanted to make sure it didnt get infected...all i say is i felt so bad for her, and she was pretty tough, but by the end of the day, you could see their was a lot of effort in her walking...good luck!!!

Yep, this is what I used on my son to prevent chafing between his legs. Just grab the antiperspirant/deoderant solid and rub it on. I use it on my toes to prevent blisters from forming too. Works awesome! :thumbsup2

Another vote for BODY GLIDE! Its expensive but worth it. We do any areas that 'rub' and also our feet - no blisters or anything for us!

I would second the buying of some lycra bike shorts.....or some performance undies. I buy these for my DH to wear on race days.....they wick any moisture and prevent chafing. obviously you can buy them in sporting goods stores. The other obvious solution is ditch the jeans. Shorts, sweats, it's all good!

Ditching the jeans is what I originally suggested, but DS is 11 and very self conscience about what he wears and looking "like a dork" (his words, not mine). Just a year ago I could dress him in just about anything and he could care less. Now he won't wear character Tshirts, pants other than jeans and "cool" tshirts, no collared shirts, he's become as fussy over his clothes as a girl!:)

I didn't know boys went through this too.:confused3

We found Body Glide locally at our Sports Authority (in small and larger sizes). DH said it made all the difference in the world on our last trip!

Yea... ditch the Jeans... Get him some Scottish kilts  J/K... Look for "boxer briefs". The ones that are like briefs but they come down over your thighs. That's what all the "cool" kids are wearing nowadays anyways. :thumbsup2 You don't want him getting picked on for wearing tighty whities do ya?
