My Journal to Me - Comments welcome!

I spent the day "spring cleaning"/reclaiming my office today. :crazy2: Doing this always makes me cranky, but I am happy to have a clean office when it is done - No, it is not done yet so I am still cranky. The paper, partially completed projects, etc just gets completely out of control and I can't stand it any more, so I clean. Cleaning with a DD2 as my "helper" is always interesting too. I drank almost no water today, not sure why. Just didn't refill my cup.

Food:
8:30a: granola bar
12:00p: 1c GoLean Cereal, 16 oz milk
2:15p: granola bar
3:30p: 1c GoLean Cereal, 16 oz milk
6:00p, turkey hot dog, 3/4c baked beans, beer (Dh working late so I am more cranky!)
Totals:
Cal: 1250, Fat: 19g, Carbs: 193g, Fiber: 31g, Protein: 77g

Water: 40 oz

Exercise: none? DH decided to work late tonight, so I don't think he will get home in time for me to walk today. I knew I should have walked this morning. (still more cranky!)

Thank you everyone for stopping by my journal. I am sorry I am so cranky today. Knowing that I have this journal to keep me accountable keeps me on track.

Jane & Jaime, Thanks. I am really happy to finally see a loss again. and Yosemite was a great getaway. I was really pleased with myself and my food choices over the weekend. I wish we could do stuff like that more often, but it doesn't seem to happen.

Amy, How I wish we were done with school! The elementary school is on a "modified traditional" calendar. We started August 14 and finish June 21. We get an 8 week summer, 2 weeks at the end of October, 2 weeks for Christmas and 2 weeks for spring break. I actually like the calendar most of the year (just not at the end of May and mid-August :rotfl2: ) We usually take our big family vacation in October. It is not crowded, prices are down, and generally the weather is still good. Of course, next year DD12 will be at the middle school and will be on a different (traditional) calendar. She will start a week later and finish a week earlier, no October break and only 1 week for Spring. Oh, well.

Regarding the 1/2 walnut :rotfl2: I was chopping everything for the waldorf salad and just kept eating celery sticks and apples until the end, then I snagged 1 lone walnut half before it got chopped up! :rotfl: If I hadn't had the "other" stuff readily available to snack on, there would have been many more walnuts eaten.

Definitely think about Yosemite. It is a great family vacation.

Scott & Tracy, We are so very glad that the state report is done. DD has been grounded off and on for the better part of the last three weeks in order to get it finished. I think there are two apples left still. :rotfl2: The timing for our Yosemite trip worked out great too. We had a fantastic time.

Wow, I eat WAY more than you when I am cranky! :rotfl: You did pretty good with your eating, at least you didn't go overboard.

That will be interesting next year when you have different kids on different schedules. I would love the modified schedule, especially for vacations! They tossed around the idea here, but decided against it... :confused3

You will get your walk in today!

Congrats on doing your spring cleaning. Don't you feel good when you get it finished and have your room back in order? It always amazes me how quickly it can all get disorganized again.

You'll have your hands full next year with the different schedules. Its a shame all the schools can't be on the same calendar.

Great food choices yesterday! (You can tell I'm not big on veggies.) I'll have to try those turkey hot dogs - I love hot dogs but don't dare get started on 'em. The turkey ones might be a good solution for me. Hang in there!:wizard:

Hi Anna,

Sorry to hear that you were a little cranky...but hey at least you are getting your spring cleaning done. And you didn't go overboard with your eating....You are doing okay!!!!

keep up the good work, you are doing a great job!!!

Have a wonderful weekend :)

The last two days have been nonstop busy. The "end of year" stuff has already started at school (even though there is still almost a month of school left!) Thursday was Open House and then a forum with the principal to discuss the GATE, or rather lack of GATE, program. I sent DH and the kids home after Open House, but I didn't get home until after 8. Then I had to finish the Pupil Information Form for DD10 for next year that was due the next day. "Tell us about your child to help determine class placement for next year ..." Friday was Grandparents Day. The kids all dressed hawaiian. DH's mom came (she lives about 40 minutes away.) Each grade did 1-2 musical numbers for a nice program. I had "snack" cravings all day (my MIL does that to me!) When DH came home from work he suggested dinner out to kick off the 3 day weekend and I caved! Here are the gory details...

Thursday
Food:
b: whole wheat toast w/ PB&J, 1c OJ
s: 1 serving graham crackers, 2 strawberries (Toddler Class)
l: chicken salad on wholewheat toast, sliced tomato
s: smoothie w/ FF yogurt, OJ, strawberries
d: granola bar (it was too late to eat anything else)
Totals:
Cal: 1261, Fat: 38g, Carbs: 162g, Fiber: 14g, Protein: 75g

Water: 96 oz

Exercise: 60 minute walk w/ jogger stroller (to/from Toddler Class!) :yay:

Friday
9:00: whole wheat toast w/ PB&J, 1c OJ

12:00p: 6 triscuits, 2 slices provolone cheese, apple
2:00p: 15 almonds, then another 15 almonds
4:00p: 100 cal pack peanutbutter cookie crisps
5:45p: Buca di Beppo - 1pc garlic bread, 3 pcs pizza Margherita, 1/2 pc chicken parmigiana, 1 small serving fettuccine alfredo, 2 large glasses chianti :sad2:

Water: 80 oz

Exercise: lifting fork & glass to mouth way too many times!

Jaime & Amy: As my kids keep saying "there is nothing good to eat" in the house. This kept me from going too overboard while cranky. :rotfl2: Actually, I don't eat that much when cranky, but way more when stressed (like anything to do with my MIL).

Amy: the different schedules will be interesting. Nothing to be done except make the best of it though.

Jane: I got the turkey hot dog idea from Jaime (thanks Jaime! :thumbsup2 ) They are a pretty good substitute. I have even slipped them on the kids a couple of times and they haven't noticed. :lmao:

Hi Anna,
Just stopped by to read some of journal. You are a busy lady! Sounds like you are doing great with food and exercise, good for you! And I also will have a child starting middle school next year and therefore being on a completely different schedule than his younger, year round, sister. Its going to be fun isn't it? Hope you have a great weekend!

Hi Amy, Thanks for stopping by my journal. Middle school is going to be a big step definitely. I'll actually have three schedules since youngest DD will be starting preschool, but that one is way more flexible about missing days, etc. Our middle school really does not allow missing class for ANY reason. I have been told kids go to school sick rather than miss a day (dumb, huh? Let's get everyone else sick too! :confused3 )

Anna, I am in the same boat as you - eating out too much, drinking too much, etc etc. I figure once I get back to work on Tuesday I will get back into a more healthy routine. You will get back into a routine, don't get frustrated! It is really important to understand that there will ALWAYS be bad days thrown in the mix. Just knowing that you are off track is a big start, because you know you have to do something to get back to living that healthy lifestyle.

YOU CAN DO IT!!! :cheer2:

Thank goodness for the exercise challenge or I never would have gotten out to walk this evening. It was really nice and it de-stressed me from the in-law visit this afternoon. When I am stressed, I eat and my in-laws definitely stress me. The in-laws came over for the afternoon and they like to eat! I did really pretty good until dessert. DH's aunt makes the most amazing pies. I had a small slice of peach pecan and another small slice of banana cream, and then I went back and had a sliver of strawberry rhubarb. I did skip the ice cream and the whipped cream. That was bad enough, but then I just had another big slice of the peach pecan with a glass of milk after my walk. :sad2: So maybe the walk didn't completely destress me from the in-laws.

Food:
8:30a: 4 pancakes w/ 2T peach sauce, egg, 12 oz skim milk
12:30 - 2p: lots of grape tomatoes, pea pods, some carrots & broccoli
2p: 2 turkey hot dogs (no bun), 1c potato salad, small handful of BBQ chips, 2 margaritas
4:30p: PIE! small slice peach pecan, banana cream, sliver strawberry rhubarb
8:00p: big slice peach pecan, 12 oz skim milk
Totals: (kinda a guess?)
Cal:2845, Fat: 113g, Carbs: 331g, Fiber: 14g, Protein: 76

Water: 108 oz

Exercise: 55 minute walk! :yay:

The scale this morning still said 173 so hopefully there will be at least a little loss tomorrow. See how much damage the PIE fest did. :sad2: I did spend almost an hour in the spa after my walk to "sweat" out any more excess water weight I could. :rotfl2: Of course I drank 20 oz of water at the same time so I am not sure that theory makes sense. :confused3

Thanks Amy & Tracy for your support. WISH really helps keep me from just throwing in the towel right now. I think part of my problem may be my own complacency. At 173 I am back to where I was a year ago and so all the clothes I bought for our cruise last summer fit. It is great to be back here, but I really have a long way to go and need to get beyond this. I have to remind myself how bummed I was last spring when I was buying those clothes because nothing else fit.

Amy, thank you so much for doing the exercise challenge this month. Without it I KNOW I would not be getting in my exercise.

I'm so glad the exercise challenge is working for you! :woohoo: And I'm glad that you have found the support here that you need to keep going. :grouphug: Don't settle for 173, keep working hard until you get to your goal, whatever that may be! You can do it. :cheer2: And so what if you had pie, that is over and done with and now you can get back to eating healthy. Because in the long run, there will always be pie and margaritas and cheesecake, etc - the key is to enjoy those things in moderation and eat healthy at least 80% of the time. You are forming some healthy habits, give yourself a big pat on the back! :thumbsup2

WI this morning was 174 whick means I get to change my clippie! :cool1: down 1.5 lbs for the week and only up 1 lb for the weekend - amazing! Ate way too many fatty, high cal foods today though. I started to get back on track by dinner, so hopefully I'll be totally back together tomorrow.

Food:
9:00a: (DH cooked) scrambled egg, sausage, hash browns, 12 oz skim milk
12:00p: 1/2c FF cottage cheese, sliced tomato
3:10p: slice peach pecan pie, 12 oz skim milk (I told the family they have to eat the rest of the pie tonight for dessert so it will be all gone!)
6:00p: baked chicken, ceasar salad, sliced tomato, 10 oz skim milk
Resisted:
toast w/ breakfast, more pie, potato salad w/ dinner

Water: 112 oz

Exercise: none yet, might still try and get a walk in tonight, but it is not looking too likely. I am going to have to do some serious walking tomorrow and Wednesday to meet my exercise challenge!

Pie was not quite done unfortunately. Clearly, Aunt S's pie is on the "can't have in the house" list for me. It was as taunting as the darn cookie dough! Thanks for the pep talk. I appreciate it. I know I won't settle. Ulitimately I would love to get to 135, but I truly don't know if my body can do that at this point. I haven't been there in more than 20 years! I'll be happy in the 140's. I just have to keep going after every mini goal. Next will be to break 170....

Congrats on the weighloss! I hear ya on this weekend. It was brutal - way too much time on my hands and food on my hips! I don't know which pie sounds better - the peach pean or banana cream - YOu can keep the strawberry rhubarb. (My mom used to make homemade rhubarb and its turned me against strawberry rhubarb forever!)

Its great to get back to a normal week - I won't be missing these long weekends. They're way too much trouble!

Hey Jane, no strawberry rhubarb bashing! I love that stuff! And peach pecan sounds heavenly too. No wonder you indulged!

You will be in the 160's before you know it! :cool1:

Hi Anna~

Way to go on a wonderful weigh-in! :thumbsup2 Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday! :sunny:

(Boy... I sure had a lot of W's in there! :rotfl: )

Today was a good day if I don't count the "my children driving me crazy" part. The scale was back down to 173 this morning, I ate well, I drank tons of water, and I walked for 95 minutes tonight! :cool1:

The walk was thanks to Amy's exercise challenge. I am competitive enough that I WILL meet my goal even if it means mega walks at the end of the month. It was also thanks to "my children are driving me crazy" and I needed to get out of the house by myself! They are so done with school, but unfortunately school is not done for another +3 weeks! Ugh! Luckily the homework load is minimal (finally!), but they are just fussin' at each other constantly. I told DH I was taking a long walk and he would have to get all 3 in to bed tonight. Came home a little after 9 to a quiet house.

Food:
9a: 1/2c GoLean Cereal + 1/2c Rice Krispies, 12 oz skim milk (DD2 wanted mommy's cereal to "talk" too :rotfl2: )
12p: 1c LF Split Pea soup, 1.5c salad w/ 3/4c chicken, 2T salsa
3p: smoothie w/ banana, strawberry, FF yogurt
6:30p: roast chicken breast, 1c green beans, 2c salad w/ avocado & spinkle parmesan cheese, 12 oz skim milk
Totals:
Cal: 1428, Fat: 18g, Carbs: 189g, Fiber: 34g, Protein: 140g
Resisted: more soup, bread & olive oil w/ dinner

Water: 132 oz

Exercise: 95 minute on hillls! :cool1:

Amy & Jane, I was a little skeptical of the Strawberry Rhubarb initially, but it was GOOD! What is Rhubarb anyway? The Peach Pecan is a peach pie with a pecan top crust - definitely Heaven!

Thanks Tracy, I definitely had a Terrific Tuesday and hope to have a Wonderful Wednesday! I hope the same for all of you too. :cheer2:

Never had peach pecan pie but it sounds delicious!!!
Congrats on the weigh in :)
The exercise challenge sounds good, i may have to take a look at that :)

Hi Anna~

You are doing a great job getting your exercise in this month! :yay: Keep up the good work! :cheer2:

Have a great day! :sunny:

Yay for you making time for yourself and getting that walk in! :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :cool1: :thumbsup2

My kids always fight , no matter what time of year it is... :confused3

Rhubarb is a vegetable (or maybe a fruit - I have no idea) - it is shaped like flat celery, it is a reddish purple and it is SOUR. I've made rhubarb bran muffins before - I need to look up that recipe, they were really good!

Have you signed up for the June Challenge yet?

I love GoLean Crunch. I also tried the Grape Nuts Trail Mix Crunch - it's pretty good, you might want to check it out.
