My Husky Killed My Cat

I see you edited this in after I read your original response.

I don't know what you mean, that I edited this in :confused3. The above was my original message.
I have no idea what I lost you on on the cat either.
Yes, I understand you meant my viewpoint, and again, I don't agree with you.

I've worked for a vet for years, and this happens AT LEAST once a month. Unfortunately, I've never heard of it happening with any dog other than huskies.

Even the slightest bit of preemptive research on the internet would point to this sort of pattern.

I love animals, I really do, but I'm agreeing with a lot of what Manhattan Princess is saying.

I am so very sorry for your loss, losing a pet is like losing a member of the family, and it's always hard. One of your animals needs to be rehomed, though.

Well it was not a Husky that killed our cat, it was a Pit Bull. A Pit Bull that we found out later had killed already and NOTHING had been done about it. So, now you've heard about another breed. ;) :thumbsup2

The OP brought the abandoned dog into her home that her DD had originally purchased..... She does not deserve the down right nasty comments posted in this thread.

I agree. There is no point in saying that homework should have been done, if the OP didn't even know there was a chance of a problem. It's what she does now that counts, and her posting may have helped others to know to search and talk to people before adding a dog to their home. I'm sure she is in enough pain losing her cat.

OP, I am sorry for the loss of your kitty and I feel really bad for the dog too.
People really should not give pets as gifts, especially to a boyfriend/girlfriend.
You did try and do the right thing.

There are lots of great mix breeds out there that need loving homes at you local humane society or shelter.

My mil's dog killed her cat and they lived together without any problems for 5 or 6 years before it happened. And her dog is not a husky, I can't remember what it is but it's a large, 120 lbs, short hair dog. She felt horrible her cat died that way. Still has the dog, but no cats.
