Just another positive post for the resale market. We used Jaki and **** because that's where we found a loaded contract with the right amount of points. He kept us informed the whole way through and it took about 5 weeks for everything to go through. The wait was well worth the savings and the larger contract we were able to buy.

We purchased direct from Disney in Dec 09 and it was quick and easy.

We just completed our first add-on (resale contract) last month via Shontell Crawford with http://www.dvcbyresale.com/. The whole process from start to finish took about 6 weeks. I would highly recommend both her business and The Timeshare Store. You will notice the staff from The Timeshare Store posts on the DVC Boards quite frequently.

All future add-ons will be resale - I saved about $3,000 on a 100 point contract!

We live in England and bought our first points through Shontell. Even living on this side of the pond it was easy to do and we had no problems. We did an add on direct from Disney because we only wanted a small contract and they had a good incentive at the time. Buying resale meant we could buy a lot more points for the same price and we had some banked points to use as well.

When we first bought into DVC we never heard about resale, until we were actually buying, we recently bought our second contract but went the resale route, this was very easy to do, but takes alot longer than buying direct.

The Timeshare store is safe and a great way to get discounted points. We bought from Disney for our first contract and added more points later from the Timeshare Store. Both transactions were perfect.

We bought into DVC through the Timeshare Store and it was very easy. Everyone we spoke to there was extremly nice and helpful. I suggest calling them and they can answer any questions you may have about resale.

So as long as time isn't a factor (waiting the 6-8 weeks for the resale process) I would suggest resale over going direct. You can save a lot of money. Just be sure not to buy a contract that is stripped of points!

You can run into some snags buying resale but you should feel safe using TSS or Jaki. We bought 2 contracts through TSS which went fine. We pulled out of one contract with TSS after the seller had a problem in bankruptcy court but got our money back no problem. We also experienced a rofr using Jaki and she was great through that experience. I did call the other resale agent that was mentioned in this thread a few times and she did return messages in a timely manner. I personally would not use that agent but that's only me. You must make your own decision.

The bottom line is if you are willing to be patient and want to save money buy resale.

As far as safety these boards would be all over any dishonest resale agent so fast it would make your head spin. The satisfaction expressed on these boards for these agents if proof a million times over for their honest business practices.

I've never used Jaki but I'm sure she does a great job. I have recently made my first DVC purchase, 100 pts at BLT, through the Timeshare Store and had absolutely no problems. They handled everything, all I had to do was write the checks. I highly reccommend them.

However, this is a lot of money and my husband is not at all thrilled with the thought of doing anything but buying direct from Disney. He wants me to prove that it's legitimate and that we wouldn't be losing all that money to some sort of scam.

My gut and research has me convinced that it's legit, but I don't know how to convince him..

Definitely not a scam. I bought 2 contacts resale. I went thru Jaki/**** for both because they happened to have what I needed at the time, but I wouldn't hesitate using TTS in the future. I contacted TTS when I was researching both contracts. They were extremely helpful, but just didn't have the contracts available I was looking for.

Is he serious enough to contact the Better Business Bureau, and do some inquiries about the company you want to deal with. I've bought from 2 of the mentioned companies, and am in the middle of a purchase through a 3rd company. There are ways of checking out businesses, and I would urge you to do so.

I agree. Definitely not a scam. I have purchased my first points from the Timeshare Store, then a small add-on from Disney direct, then more add-on points from the Timeshare Store. All transactions went smoothly. Disney is involved in the process through ROFR anyway. It is all legit.

I have used two of the resale companies. They were both professional and very prompt to answer any questions I had. I saved a lot of $$$ by purchasing resale and also got this years points. Just let the TSS or other dealers know what you want and chances are they can find it. Good luck! OKW rocks!!

If you use a co like the timeshare store it is as safe as Disney. We bought two packages from them and it is the same as buying a house through a real estate agent.

We purchased two separate contracts through TImeshare Store. It never even crossed our mind to purchase direct through disney; there really is nothing to fear buying resale. It's pretty much the same as buying a resale house in a development where the builder is still trying to sell new inventory. Both are legitimate, but you will save money buying resale.
