My Husband is nervous about resale

Below are the number of dollar bills (5,000) we saved by buying resale in an incredibly smooth transaction. That should give him something to visualize. ;)

We went on a DVC tour this year with a wonderful Disney rep and would of loved to have purchased through Disney simply because the sales rep. was so great. The problem was the cost of points new vs. resales was a huge difference! We purchased OKW through the Timeschare Store (financed too) and spent the same amount for almost double the points than what we would of gotten new. The Timeshare store was top notch and we have no complaints. Our package came with points available that were already banked so we just got back from HHI and we're talking about buying more points! It was wonderful :)

We bought both ways, through Disney and TS. It's faster through Disney but that was really the only difference. We've bought and sold through TS and had only good experiences.

Bought two through Timeshare Store and one through Disney.

Excellent results both times. Second TSS purchase I requested that seller paid all closing costs, about $600.00 and they did. Just cost me the points.

Very happy here!

I just wanted to say we bought our Disney points via resale and it went very smooth. We used TSS and they were very helpful and quick to move along the process.

I would have no hesitation to buy resale again.

in my line of work, it is accepted that reality isn't always what
we think it is....and that making changes and adjustments are
effective coping skills.

i saw all the $ signs. didn't count them all but agree they are in
the ball park. however, buying something that one feels "stuck" with or
result in "headaches", or becomes a "money pit" can drain one resources.

and take the joy out of doing disney vacations.

the are other factors we used to guide our final choices. when we
decided on blt, we did not matched up with what i read here. however,
i didn't think it matter as long as we are happy with our choice.

as for resales, i really don't think they are a bad investments if one
follow a few, simple rules. as others [ more expert than me] , noted,
dvc is best for disney vacations. that make sense. we didn't buy for
our ego, but our future plans to continue our disney trends. another
factor i have seen repeated here by all groups, types , buyers, is
the theme of buying where you want your home resort to be. by doing
these 2 things, i think is the best protection of any changes disney
may do. [ & since changes are a naturally part of disney, one should
expect them.] besides what ben presented here, if one just looks
@ the profit margins as your crystal ball, there are all kind of changes
disney can/may do.

just read postings where a seller was disappointed with the tss.
i don't understand that expectation. they must follow the laws as written,
and they can't influence others by any action/s. also multiple & ongoing
guides ' problems. our guides has been terrible unreliable from the begining.
however, we know exactly what we agreed to & will continue to
seek corrective measures until solution is found. our resolve is based on
recognizing, learning & seeking the things we need to make our dvc
work for us. so if things go astray, instead of becoming frustrated, try
a lil' communicating & followup when your feeling not right.

setting up for disappointments. i can't believe how many times owners
post about hating their home resort and never staying there. they must
be daredevils in real life. it makes no sense to me, to take such
chances that things won't changed. no way, we would ever do this
just to save a few hundreds. however, i can see why some do own @
2 resorts. we just did animal k. s/p member cruise, & enjoyed it very
much. oh, just my observations, it pretty evident of those renting
points.

do people @ the tss only do sales or try to guide potential owners
toward making the best choice?

I just started the process of buying my third resale through Timeshare Store. I've had wonderful experiences with them each time so far - crossing fingers this one goes well too. Now, I've had issues to be resolved but they were either the fault of DVC (posting the contract to wrong account) or the seller being slower than a snail in getting their docs all in a row! Even with both of these problems, TTS or *** (title company they use) were very helpful in getting resolved.

Otherwise, I have no hesitation buying resale from them. I probably would never buy direct from Disney again. Just too expensive.

Of course, truth be known, I need to stop buying anymore DVC altogether! Pretty penny tied up in DVC.
;)

I have also bought direct through DVC and resale. You can get more through resale and if you use one of the brokers on the Disney sites you should have no problem.

One thing I would tell you is that you may want to buy small packages; they have a faster resale value.

We just closed on a resale today through TSS and from start to finish, it went smoothly. We sent the initial paperwork on Aug. 30th andclosed today. Woot! Woot!,,,:cheer2::flower::flower::banana::banana

We have purchased all 3 of our contracts via the resale route. There was never a problem or concern while using this process. There are only two differences that I can see. One is that you have a 2 month wait period by the time you agree to buy and closing date to get and be able to use your points. The second is you save a lot of money this way.Good Luck!

I bought my inital SSR points through DVC, bought a SSR resale through TSS, bought VGC through DVC, and just completed another SSR resale with TSS. Both experiences with TSS were great! No complaints. Obviously it was faster and a little easier to buy through DVC but resale was still a good experience (especially for the money I saved over my inital SSR contract!).

I would only buy direct again if it was a new resort and they had a great incentive. I'm planning to buy another resale for OKW as soon as I find the right contract!

I know a lot of people say to buy where you want to stay. SSR is probably lowest on our list of DVC resorts, but I've always had great luck booking other places at 7 months. I guess the biggest risk would be if they someday disallow staying at non-home resorts. I thought about it and decided I would be happy if I had to stay at SSR and it was worth the risk for the low resale price.
