My husband didn't believe me about FP+

We are booking FPs for October. The last time we went was 5 years ago, before FP+. It's very aggravating to have to plan our days 2 months in advance! We thought it was bad enough having to arrange ADRs so far ahead.

How can this possibly be a relaxing vacation?! What are our chances of getting same-day FPs? We generally hate stand-by lines. Are those as bad as they always were?

Same-day FPs will be available for most attractions, but unlikely for a number of headliners. Are there any specific attractions you want to know about?

It's not as bad as it seems. There will be no same day FP for Anna & Elsa, toy story midway mania, possibly Peter Pan, and probably none for 7dmt. You could rope drop these attractions if you want to ride them. The first time we did FP we didn't choose them until the day we arrived at our resort. We still had pretty good choices and times.

Same day FPs will indeed be available. But what we found was that times tended to be inconvenient, making it hard to set up a good flow to the day.

Book things now. There's no reason not to. Worst that can happen is that you have to make some changes. But you won't be any worse off than you would be if you just didn't book any at all.

Sorry, OP. I know it can be frustrating. But it's the new normal.

I agree with PPs. Book them now. You don't HAVE to use them if you don't feel like it, but it really is nice to walk on to busy attractions quickly.

It really isn't as bad as it seems.. I actually like FP+ and not having to run all over to get paper fps. Do them now and you can switch things around as you get closer to the trip. I always change our times and attractions leading up to the trip. It is nice having the 3 ready to go - especially for the real popular rides like Toy Story Mania, Soarin, 7DMT, Test Track, etc.

Sorry OP, I know exactly how you feel. Making ride reservations is not my idea of fun either. When we were there, SB lines for rides with FP+ were considerably longer. But I would book what you can now.

We want to book the 7dmride & there was nothing available. Do we just have to try every day? (We're Disneyland people and hope it never comes to this there!) I don't mind booking them, but there's nothing available? How can that be? You say you change when you get closer - can you get 7dmr one month out?

The truth is that you may never be able to get a 7DMT fastpass. That's the breaks, kid. They were all gone at 60+ days before your window opened, and you likely never had a chance at one.

That's one of the tough ones to get unless you jump on 60 days out. You may be able to find something if you check back regularly.

Sorry, I understand how you feel.

Are you going on a MNSSHP day? The problem in getting FP+ for 7DMT during that season is because there are far fewer available with the party starting.

That being said, yep, keep trying every once in a while. They become available. I have noticed a trend while reading through the boards that for 7DMT and A&E in particular, people book multiple fast passes during their trips, then tend to drop the, as their actual vacation days approach.

I definitely DO NOT consider Disney a relaxing vacation. A relaxing vacation is one that you have a hotel booked and a rough plan of stuff to do and can sleep when you want, etc. Disney is months in advance picking which parks on which days, planning where you'll eat and predicting what rides you'll feel like doing when, and making sure you're up early to get to parks for RD. If you don't do these things, you can't eat where you want, won't get fp for the times you want them and /or will wait in ridiculously long sB lines. Universal is SOOOOO easy in comparison. I just went to WDW in June with my son and we DID have a great time, but it could never be in the category of "relaxing vacation".

Yeah planned spontaneity isn't for everyone. As long as you don't want any flexibility and don't want to ride anything twice its a system that works for you. If you want to see where the day takes you then you'll find yourself in 45 min waits for Journey Into Imagination and no one deserves that. Just book what you can and think of how much more you'll appreciate DL when you return.

I think it's a heck of a lot easier to book FP+ from my own home, getting a chance to at least have a shot at the hard to get ones, than it is to take the time to wait in line every day during my vacation to get same day FP+, and probably have no shot at getting Mine Train, and the others that you usually cannot get day of. You can always make them and not use them, but it's better to have them, IMO.

Just got back from a WDW vacation and think this new system is horrible. If you cannot make your FP+ selections months in advance and actually try to get them on the same day, or even a few days in advance, your options for available attractions and open times are really limited. I MUCH preferred the old system where the FP's were issued to people actually in the park. Allowed for much more spontaneity and flexibility in vacation.
