Hello DISers!

I just got back from a jammed-pack 5 day trip to Disney and Universal. We spent the last two days of our trip in US and IoA. We stayed a Royal Pacific. What a change after spending 3 days in Disney, trying to get from FP to FP, fitting in rides in between, and making our ADRs!! We loved it. The Express Pass was well worth the price of the hotel room! It didn't matter that most stand-by times were under a half hour during both days. It was wonderful to just walk up. My hubby said he would go back to Universal anyday. Although, he only cared about Hogsmeade and Diagon Ally, He could spend all day in just those two areas! I still have a soft spot for Disney, though.

So I wanted to say that the Dark Side has another fan.

Wahooo! Yes, a relaxing vacation fan. Oh, and I like your screen name.

Glad to hear you all had such a wonderful time at the Darkside........Potter areas are quite amazing, so gad you liked them.

EP is fantastic, even if there`s a small queue....we still use it every ride!!

another member/philly, has just joined the family......

so nice to hear you loved the darkside!

We just returned and had a similar experience--except it was me who was loving the more laid-back pace of UO, while my husband, who to date has been quite the Disney curmudgeon, said it made him appreciate how much he actually does like Disney. We went mostly for WWOHP, but I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the rest of the parks. Although I loved Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade, I could also easily have spent half a day in the Marvel area of IOA. I would never have predicted that prior to the trip!

Hubby also loved how close the parks were to the hotel. We didn't believe it could actually be faster to walk to the parks until we did it and timed it (from RP). We probably won't be back for awhile though, unless another HP area or attraction is actually built (shrieking shack? forbidden forest?).

Yay for phillymummer's hubby! pixiedust:

Everything you said in the OP is how we felt five or so years ago during our first on-site stay.

At first hubby was like, "You paid how much for this room?!" But between the express pass and the close proximity to the parks, he felt the price was totally worth it!

I know where he's coming from! LOL We visited Universal instead of WDW for the first time this past summer. Now, somehow, we already have annual passes to US? :rolleyes1 It happened so fast! I don't know what hit me.
