my guide makes me not want to buy anymore

Our "guide" was truly awful and considering how many others seem to have similar experiences, I'm very surprised that Disney doesn't have some sort of oversight on this. They have probably lost (and deserved to) a ton of sales over the years due to new buyers having bad guides & not knowing that they could get a new guide...or HOW to get a new guide, which I still don't know!

I go through DL, which is so small that I'd be afraid to switch without receiving negative repercussions for doing such.

I have to admit after my attempt to nicely ask for another guide to help me. The girl who answered the phone seemed to act like she didnt hear me... and just assured me that my guide " " would definetly get in touch with me soon. I even said "but it has not been easy to discuss the vacation club with him and if someone else is available to help me that would be great." I guess I was too polite and you really have to say"I dont like my guide, give me someone else please!" Maybe she gave him a heads up on my dissatisfaction tone because he was alot different when he called me back. It is sad that so many people have had bad experiences when this should be such a wonderful time!

While I haven't done it, I definitely wouldn't rely on the receptionist. She should have transferred you directly to management as soon as you mentioned such...yet one more sign of what I've seen to be incredibly bad training & oversight in the DVC facilities. I think Disney just gets lucky with getting good people most of the time, the structure to ensure proper service & remove the bad seeds definitely seems to be lacking.

I believe several people have switched guides, perhaps they will let us know how they accomplished it. At the very least, I presume one could call and ask for a manager.

Does anyone have any idea what their commission rate is?

Our experiance was just the opposite. Our guide was very knowledgeable always returned my calls and answered all of my questions regardless of how dumb they where. If anybody needs a good guide his name is Ron Brumbaugh. Hope he does not mind me throwing his name out.

Ron is our Guide too, and I am sure he would not mind you posting his name as an excellent Guide to work with! I know I do myself, LOL! Ron is the best...

My sales rep has been on top of every need and question we ever had. She even called me today when the dvc contemporary was first announced because I had expressed an interest in prior conversations. You should definitely try her. Her name is Theresa Seitz. Good luck.

We just bought in two Saturday's ago after visiting SSR preview rooms of AKL (we had no interest in the BLV that we knew were being built). Through the beginning stages we worked through our representative Lisa over the phone, but she was based in California. When we visited the resort we were assigned an assisting representative, Bill, who was very friendly, helpful and didn't pressure at all (nor did he need to, we knew we were buying in).

The one thing I think is funny is you can see how the credit market disruptions are starting to impact even Disney DVC sales. Bill was politely cautious about mentioning interest rates and did clarify what the average credit rating required to get the best rate (FICO for best financing rate is at least 740). He mentioned prior to a lot of the market turmoil the average rating for best rates was 700. We didn't have concerns about meeting this credit rating but wanted to know for our own information.

Sorry some people are having issues with their representatives.

Glad to hear things are working out, and I hope you like your new guide. I didn't really care for my guide on first impression, but now I think he is really hilarious and fun to work with. He really knows the ins and outs of his programs, and he keeps me in stitches with his anecdotes. Michael Johnson is his name.
That being said, I would say that AKV's current incentives make resale look much less attractive. I would also suggest locking in with disney because they are getting rid of the $500 gift card after 9/20.
If you rent your developer points the comparable price works out to about $81 a point, if you keep them its $91 a point. Plus, its done fast.
Most of the AKV resale contracts are stripped of 08 and 09 points so they are a terrible value IMHO.

We must have had the same guide. He told me I had to decide fast to get the incentives, but was awful at returning calls.
I ended up buying resale--saved a ton of money and had great service. **********.com

I had him too! Got rid of him when I told the head honcho point blank that as long as he was my guide we would NOT be buying any more DVC points from Disney nor would we be referring anyone. Period, end of story. I had a call from my new and lovely guide within an hour.

I have to say I have been extremely lucky with my guides. Two of them left the company, the last being Ken Bradshaw. I loved KEN and honestly mourned that he wouldn't be there anymore, but now I have Nick Cotton and I am so happy. Never met him, but he couldn't be any nicer on the phone. He is such a sweet southern man and is so quick to return calls or follow-up with any questions I ask. He even called me to ask what I thought about BLT even though he knew I was doing a BCV add-on he just wanted to check on me. Now I know some of you are saying he was just looking to get me to buy BLT, but honestly he really wasn't asking that at all.

So for those of you unhappy with your guides - call back and ask for Nick Cotton!

Ron is my guide as well, he has been very helpful and patient. I went to WDW after my initial call and while I was there I decided to go to the open house and I got to meet Ron.

theresa seitz?

I know her.....used to work with her. She's a very nice midwestern girl....and cute as a button.

Always thought she'd be really great selling DVC.....go figure:lmao:

If you have had a bad experience with a guide, I wouldn't be afraid to mention there name here. I don't want to do business with a "pushy timeshare salesperson" who has bad customer service. Put there names out there so others know......

that's not really an honorable thing to do though.....since this is an open site that can be viewed by millions and the person being accused of poor job performance will never know about it.....

it just seems a little bit over the line....

positive feedback should be named though...that's not really a bad thing

We will not be turning this thread into a "List the Bad Guides" thread. We are sharing experiences, good and bad but this is not going to be a witch hunt. When my girls were little I always told them there were no "Bad" children. There were children who may DO something bad on occasion, but nobody deserved to be labeled that. Not DVC Guides, not DIS Posters, nobody.

Someone may have a bad day, someone may perceive something as bad, yet they have no control over it - shoot the messenger kind of thing, perhaps. So let's keep everything above board here please

Off my soapbox now, lol... :surfweb:

I love my GUide - Patti Douglas. I have her on my speed dial - IM me if you want the number.

She is knowledgable, low key, and has helped me several time w/DVC and Disney issues in general. And she doesn't call you unless you ask her to.... (I just leave a message).

Patti is the best, GOldi

I had originally taken the DVC tour with DJ who was wonderful but he left the company so I was reassigned to a guide named Michael who just rubbed me the wrong way the one time I spoke to him on the phone. On our next visit to WDW I took DH to take the DVC tour again and asked for a "fun guide" and was assigned THE BEST guide ever - Maribella Quinones. She is very patient with our questions and is definitely a "no-pressure" type of sales person. We have purchased both of our contracts thru her and have been thrilled with her both times. :thumbsup2

If you don't like your guide then just ask for a new one.

I think everone just needs to relax. I dont believe alot of people understand sales at all do you realize how many different personalities these guides have to deal with. Not everyone gets along with everbody I dont even want to say there haveing a bad day. Alot of what i read on here to be as honest as I can most of the disney community has unrealistic expectations. When you read some of these posts i just shake my head at what some people expect for just spending a little bit of money. Give these guides a break. Oh no I have to use plastic cups oh my god the world is ending for example also i called my guide 5 minutes ago and he hasnt returned my call. get a grip let it go

We did the tour the other day on our last day of vacation. Cynthia was our guide, and i found her to be OK, but in the end, she had another appt. and sorta pushed us out. I dont know if i'm too thrilled with her. Am I allowed to just call and request a specific guide? We are seriously considering buying so, I really want someone who knows what's going on, and is patient. TIA =)
