I posted a few days ago about the guide assigned to me not offering me the AKL incentative that I had recieved in an email. I followed the advice given on here and called him back. I left him a voice mail and he still hasnt returned my call. I also called (on Thursday) the 1800 given in my email, the lady looked up my info and said everyone is on tour, someone will call you back. I still havent heard anything. Im really not wanting to stay with the guide assigned to me. BTY, He is the guide of the friend who referred me so thats how I got linked up with him. He seemed really short with me when we were on the phone together. I didnt ask that many questions but he made me feel like I was wasting his time. He said "bottom line you are looking at paying $300 a month" several times and I never asked how much a month because I had a general idea thanks to reading here on the DIS. Thanks for letting me vent. Im starting to think it isnt meant to be, Ive never had to work so hard to spend money:confused: I was so excited, my DH was even on board 100%. Now Im having second thoughts! Thanx again for letting me vent!

The guide I was assigned reminded me of the used car salesman in that movie "true Lies" with Arnold Schwartzeneger. :lmao: I did not like the way he treated me, and he made me feel the same as you.

I bought resell instead. If I do any add ons in the future, I will be asking for a different guide if I go through Disney.

It just sucks when you get a bad guide.

Famous last words, guides are on the tour! Heard that several times, the one and only time I called my guide for an add-on. She never called to tell me I got the add-on, and I wasn't sure of the total amount of pts. I wanted to purchase. I asked her to call me back, never did. Well, the only time she decided to call me back was at my DVC resort on my vacation when I didn't sign the papers to add-on! Needless to say, I cancelled and she didn't get a call back either.

try our guide, diane manuel at the doorway to dreams or our other person we talked to on the phone, tony diehl. Diane always called me back within an hour or so, and Tony was the same way. I have absolutely no complaints about either.
Good Luck!

We feel pretty much the same. I talked to our Guide last week and told him I wanted to see what was going on with BLT before bought in. He told me ALL points prices are going up on Sept. 20 so I should purchase AK right away, which is something we didn't want. He then became quite short and had to get off the phone - which was just fine. We have since decide to buy resale, made an offer which was accepted and now just waiting on ROFR.

After you buy in do you really need a Guide anymore? Are they not just Disney sales representatives?

Your guide is basically your salesman if you purchase through Disney. You may need your guide in th future, if you decide to do add-ons. Other than that, you'll deal with member services and member accounting.

Diane is my guide also and I think she is fantastic!! She is pleasant to speak with, she seems to really care about my questions/needs and promptly answers all of my emails. I did ask her to mail me a book that was provided from the Doorway to Dreams event (left mine there) and she said she would...haven't seen it yet 6 weeks later.
:confused3 Oh well.

Other than that I have no complaints and would highly recommend her.

You're from Osceola? Wow! I am near the dragstrip on the Elkhart side.
It's a small world! Wonder how many other Michiana people are here?
popcorn::

what a small world. live in shephards cove subdivision, couple miles from you. if you need the dream book, pm me, we have 2 copies.

I changed guides because mine was just mean and talked down to me. I'm paying alot of money for this and I'm not putting up with that for one second. Yours doesn't sound that bad but if you don't like them or don't want them as your guide you don't have to. Its as simple as that.

Tony is our "new" guide and he is amazing... We actually started with another guide who we had some issues with while purchasing, and Tony was in management when those problems arose. When we were getting a new guide, I was thrilled to get a call from him saying that he was going back to being a guide and that he was going to be ours. He handled everything in managment better than I ever expected, and his "guide style" is personal, attentive and responsive. I'd recommend him in a heartbeat!!!

We must have had the same guide. He told me I had to decide fast to get the incentives, but was awful at returning calls.
I ended up buying resale--saved a ton of money and had great service. **********.com

Thanks so much for the overwhelming support from you disers!. Well, My guide called me back on Monday. I had tried asking for a different guide to help me through disney on Sunday but after the girl looked up my info she said everybody is on tour but your guide will definetly get in touch with you asap. Maybe she felt my disstress because he called back with a completly different attitude. He was VERY informative, cheerful, and easy to talk to. Maybe I just had him on a "bad day" when I first spoke to him. I hope his new attitude adjustment stays! I guess Ill give him a second chance. You guys are awesome! Thanks again for letting me vent. I feel much better now!

I'm glad to hear everything has worked itsself out. I was beginning to get worried as a newbie. By the way, I've had nothing but good luck with my guide. I feel very lucky.

When we origianly bought DVC back in 1999 our guide was Doug Rapp, he was great and when we decided to buy more points, it was kindof a last minute decision and he was out of the office for 2 days so we dealt with Larry Hope ... he was awesome. We have added on twice since our original purchase both times with Larry and he was more then accomodating to us! We have not had a bad encounter with a DVC representative ... other cast members, well I could tell a few UnDisney stories but won't waste your time!

our salesman....i refuse to call him anything else.....was awful. He was new to DVC when we bought....which wasn't an issue for us because both my wife and I know WDW frontwards and backwards from work experience, and we didn't really think much of his apparent lack of experience and shaky sales pitches.

It didn't matter - everybody is new at somepoint

But all experience after we signed on the line has since gone well south.

we placed both my wife's mother and father and her friend's parents on as a referral when we took the tour at Saratoga. Now they arbitrarily picked one of the two to give the referral credit too....of course not the inlaws. that was my mistake as i didn't really think (and still don't) that the system is "locked in" with a first click of the mouse as they tried to explain to me.

alright..lesson learned. They did also try the stupid line of misdirection that our inlaws did not qualify for referral because my wife worked for disney when they bought.....completely untrue and insulting.

Well, we had our wedding in WDW in 2004.....bought DVC in 06.....
My wife's friend had basically the same wedding in 07....and went ahead and bought DVC two months later.

We were listed as the referral. But apparently...it up and disappeared. We did not hear anything for months.... repeated phone calls and emails were not returned or answered with vague nothing statements.
Our guide once slipped and told me on the phone that the referral went to another name (random)....then quickly realized that it was a no-no and retreated from it.

but this went on....i did not anger, threaten, complain or take any action other than the occasional phone call.

But it continued...all the while we traveled back and forth to WDW on our regular frequency. Finally...about a year later....we cornered the guide at Saratoga to ask for an immediate resolution. We got alot of quips thrown at us about "the system"...."offices closed"...."some kind of computer error"....

Now....to many it all probably seems reasonable. To two who had worked in resort operations for several years at WDW.....basically as members of a two person crew who kept a 2000 room afloat on any given day...5 days a week....
that doesn't wash.

It was clear to us what had happened. He just wanted us to go away and attempted to ignore us until we did.

That's extremely offensive to us. We worked hard under poor conditions at WDW from 2000-2003.....we left and still decided to probably drop somewhere around 50,000 in revenue into WDW with our wedding from out of town.....we still decided to buy a timeshare that will cost somewhere around 60K in costs and dues alone over it's life......not to mention all the money spent on food, merchandise, and tickets over that span.

But our friends who we referred get regular calls and emails.....messages on their machine when they check in.....an occasional card or token gift.

We are never contacted.....except for for the occasion mass sales pitch at AKV mailed to us with pre-printed business cards in the front flap......which come every 3 weeks or so.

Sometimes life isn't all that fair.....i am usually the last to wring my hands...

but our dealer (agent...carsalesman...whatever) has just not been up to snuff. I won't say his name....as it's unfair to name people without their knowledge. I will say his initials are R.C.....incase anyone has had a similar experience.

Our experiance was just the opposite. Our guide was very knowledgeable always returned my calls and answered all of my questions regardless of how dumb they where. If anybody needs a good guide his name is Ron Brumbaugh. Hope he does not mind me throwing his name out.
