our salesman....i refuse to call him anything else.....was awful. He was new to
DVC when we bought....which wasn't an issue for us because both my wife and I know WDW frontwards and backwards from work experience, and we didn't really think much of his apparent lack of experience and shaky sales pitches.
It didn't matter - everybody is new at somepoint
But all experience after we signed on the line has since gone well south.
we placed both my wife's mother and father and her friend's parents on as a referral when we took the tour at Saratoga. Now they arbitrarily picked one of the two to give the referral credit too....of course not the inlaws. that was my mistake as i didn't really think (and still don't) that the system is "locked in" with a first click of the mouse as they tried to explain to me.
alright..lesson learned. They did also try the stupid line of misdirection that our inlaws did not qualify for referral because my wife worked for disney when they bought.....completely untrue and insulting.
Well, we had our wedding in WDW in 2004.....bought DVC in 06.....
My wife's friend had basically the same wedding in 07....and went ahead and bought DVC two months later.
We were listed as the referral. But apparently...it up and disappeared. We did not hear anything for months.... repeated phone calls and emails were not returned or answered with vague nothing statements.
Our guide once slipped and told me on the phone that the referral went to another name (random)....then quickly realized that it was a no-no and retreated from it.
but this went on....i did not anger, threaten, complain or take any action other than the occasional phone call.
But it continued...all the while we traveled back and forth to WDW on our regular frequency. Finally...about a year later....we cornered the guide at Saratoga to ask for an immediate resolution. We got alot of quips thrown at us about "the system"...."offices closed"...."some kind of computer error"....
Now....to many it all probably seems reasonable. To two who had worked in resort operations for several years at WDW.....basically as members of a two person crew who kept a 2000 room afloat on any given day...5 days a week....
that doesn't wash.
It was clear to us what had happened. He just wanted us to go away and attempted to ignore us until we did.
That's extremely offensive to us. We worked hard under poor conditions at WDW from 2000-2003.....we left and still decided to probably drop somewhere around 50,000 in revenue into WDW with our wedding from out of town.....we still decided to buy a timeshare that will cost somewhere around 60K in costs and dues alone over it's life......not to mention all the money spent on food, merchandise, and tickets over that span.
But our friends who we referred get regular calls and emails.....messages on their machine when they check in.....an occasional card or token gift.
We are never contacted.....except for for the occasion mass sales pitch at AKV mailed to us with pre-printed business cards in the front flap......which come every 3 weeks or so.
Sometimes life isn't all that fair.....i am usually the last to wring my hands...
but our dealer (agent...carsalesman...whatever) has just not been up to snuff. I won't say his name....as it's unfair to name people without their knowledge. I will say his initials are R.C.....incase anyone has had a similar experience.
